tbh i'm at the moment more frustrated with our poor discipline..how stupid was Siggy? so as Manny last week?

If Manny was on the park tonight we would have won the game...trust me.

We need a goal scorer.  Discipline is a problem but if we had a goal scorer this match would have been won by half time

Even D-Mac has looked liked something akin to a professional footballer this season.

If we can't score we can't defend. Can't expect our defence to soak the pressure up every week as games tick by with nothing happening up the other end. What is our actual plan? Hope for miracle goals from Greenacre every week? Without a danger man up front we just seem to lack any penetration, we get good service out wide, but then we just end up knocking in crosses and hoping our midget strikers can get on the end of one.

The only other striker we'l be seeing this season will be in the form of an ASB Prem player in as injury cover ...

From 442 forum on the GC vs Jets match...."Rigters...what a phenominal talent, it was a real coup finding him".
You didn't find him you twats, the Nix did(and Mehmet) then we handed them over.FFS!!!!

One of those straw-clutching questions I know, but how far away is Ifill from a return? At least the man knows how to put the ball in the net.

doesnt look like we are signing anyone.... ricki's final comments were "we're going to have to get on with what we have."

Does every other side other than Brisbane need a goal scorer? They all seem to have scored as many goals as we have.

I think the frustration is after two games where we should have won and with stats listing chances vs completion people feel we should be second to Brisbane, not where we are.

Particularly galling when you have to watch smug c**ts lke Archie and co. Dance around.

It would be awesome to have one.

But I don't think the need is as great as is being made out.

We can't rely on Brown and Greenacre getting us goals we need something else.

as soon as lia is back, Brown should be demoted to at least the bench.

If Ricki can't see this, he needs to be sacked. Every week we play with 10; yesterday we finished with nine.

Existing players to step up and suddenly score enough goals to make top 6...I dont think so.  Maybe if 1-0 becomes the norm but that aint going to happen either.

Can someone please remind me: do the Nix have their full quota of foreign players, meaning any new squad member would have to be Australasian?

Why? Hes one of only a few so far whos looked like scoring, and has scored, this season. Far more potent in front of goal than Lia ever has or ever will be. And this is fact.

probably finished with less than that if effort and usefullness counted....Bertos was a bit of a passenger for a lot of the time also.....I also agree with the Brown comment..he has his moments in front of goal  but generally missing in action...A LOT

correction if our current attackers had taken their chances, Brown, Snachez etc we'd have been up by 2/3.

I'm just wondering, given we won't sign any new striker...

Can we play Smith up front with Greeny...as he is an actual striker.

Given Satellite is doing OK at RB and Ricki keeps playing Brown regardless of how bad he performs...

This would allow Manny to play as his (and our) prefered holding mid, and give Greeny some support upfront?

Sack Welnix. Those clowns won't spring for a goalscorer.

Welnix are too focused on the marketing, they want to market the player to sell memberships etc etc, but surely from a football perspective, a new striker than can win games for us would pull higher crowds, and help our run to the playoffs immensly, and therefore sell memberships indrectly next year. Sack Welnix.

Seriously. Wasn't this what people like T_X and myself were saying all along - that the financial solvency of new owners was only part of the puzzle, the other part being having Clue One about how to run a football team? To put it in terms Gareth Morgan might understand: you don't run a succesful, solvent business by refusing a budget for staff who can get the job done.

Pulling the European striker contracts might well be the original sin which dooms the Welnix tenure, and we'll have to wait for Peter Jackson to decide he wants a football team.

To be fair, after what had transpired in the last 6-8 months, this was always going to be a transitional season regardless of who was running the club.

And also to be fair, we are playing pretty well, much better than I thought we would, and if we can back this up with some shrewd recruitment next year, we could be a force to be reckoned with next season.

Or we could of course rush out and buy a lemon like kewell. I think it is good that something of a conservative approach is being taken. New Owners barely have their feet under the table. I am happy enough that we have a long term future at this point. We are creating plenty of chances and while disappointing we are not scoring I would be a lot more worried if the chances were not being created. We also do have Ifill to come back into the mix over the next couple of weeks

I really think we should do OK with our current squad, yes, even without an additional striker we can make the playoffs, as long as:

1 We keep playing good football as we did in the past month;
2 We are able to field our top 11...

Last night's result would be totally different if Ifill and Manny were on the field, and by now we wouldn't have so much angst...

We have to admit that Ricki has done a superb job so far, the Nix is playing way better football than previous years, creating way more chances, yet we've never fielded our first XI.

Although the results are not going our way at the moment, sooner or later it will. Especially when Ifill comes back. (let's hope this way guys, stay positive)
