we need a goalscorer

so Tx your saying you want knee jerk spending just to bring the staffing and squad numbers up? how is that going to help, even witha full staff bought too quickly we'd be wooden spooners. Currently we have a good squad that can put us in the top 6. That is possibly the best we can expect this season. Morrison has send he was feeder teams for next year, but a full staff by the mid season this year. That says to me that the club is in good hands, the fact that he wants to make smart decisions like the roar over players is also promising, the victory and sydney must be struggling to justify Kewell and Emerton decisions as far as impact on the firled.

Queenslander 3x a year.

No, I assume that when Morrsion says "footballing and administration" staff he means coaching and administration staff. That's what needs to be brought up to speed asap, and there's no reason why it shouldn't be.

As far as the squad goes the only knee-jerk spending I'm advocating is another striker of at least moderate ability. Just to give us more options.

Just for the record. I agree with you on all of this.

To be fair, there isn't exactly a lot of players fitting this mould that we could actually sign right now.

You're certainly not dumb enough to think you can shut me up that way. You got your wish and things are still in the toilet. Your move.

hardly, you pinned your hopes on Terry pulling through. I don't see why your opinion is even relevant any more.

Will probably get lambasted on this one, but beginning to think Iffy's time is drawing near and I would not want to spend large wads of cash to keep him beyond the end of this year. Keep him by all means but I would not put the house on him. Clealry his first year was the best for us with 13 Goals (2 pens) and 9 assists from 30 matches. Last year he managed 7 Goals (2pens) and 2 assists from 20 games. He spent the last third of the season injured and the remainder of the season he was a shadow of what he was the year before.

He looked a lot fitter at the beginning of this year but injury has struck again and at 32, it is only ever going to get tougher to get over injuries and an injured groin is a very difficult one to get over.

I hope he burns up the rest of the year once he gets fit again (2 more weeks seems to be the indication) but at the moment if I had to spend a good chunk of our salary cap on him, I would be somewhat hesitant.

He is a top bloke, a legend, and close to the best ever A league import in his first season but everyones time comes to an end eventually.

Well, I am a football expert.

Seriously though, my vote would go to Tony Pignata. Well worth flying over from Aussie for Board meetings. Or Skype, if the budget won't stretch!

That's a completely unnecessary post JD, just a straight up personal attack.

Hardly fair. Doloras contributes a lot on here. her opinion is welcome. Some things I agree with, others I dont. Backing Terry to the hilt showed tremedous loyalty, something I am happy to extend to her on the forum. So, back off....

Well, in any case, although I do hope I have the strength to admit when I'm wrong, I am not going to stop speaking my mind on these forums no matter no many people think that I have lost my right to do so.

Glad to see that you haven't given up on hyperbole.   While JD (and others) think that your opinion is so detached from reality as to be irrelevant, nobody is even suggesting that you should be censored, let alone muzzled.

The long-term goal is to base the club's entire operation at Newtown Park and improve the currently modest training facilities.

Clearly designed to retain our promising youngsters.

Also while I like to have an open mind about things, it's limited by my one eye that sees a need to sign someone up in January to be the fast midget up front (or whatever Ricki said).  I like our first choice starting XI - but we won't have that for a while with the injuries and suspensions we've got.

So in summary, I want to have my cake and eat it too.

With ice cream.

Please.

What is this - censorship in the name of free speech?  Nobody, except for you, has explicitly asked for anyone or anything to be barred from discussion.

"anyone or anything" has a different meaning to "anyone".   Saying that the discussion has gotten too (anything) and asking for moderation seems like the equivalent of asking for that line of argument to be banned.

'Mods take control' is an in-joke. He said that everyone is entitled to their opinion, which is exactly the opposite of the censorship you are accusing.

That would mean 98% of the posters would have got warnings.
