Looking at the match thread it's also clear that a lot more people are now getting worried about where this is going.
The Welnix long-term strategy is a good one, but what about the short term? Dropping 1,000 - 2,000 off your average crowd over the course of a season will have a serious impact on revenue, as well as doing further damage to an already tarnished brand.
Surely there is a strong business case for doing something about it this season? And if a striker isn't the answer what is?

New Zealand's own Harry Kewell, Mr Ryan Nelsen.

True, I didn't mean to insult Ryan that way.
I meant it in terms of crowds alone.

I support this move! Export 33 isn't the greatest beer in the world but it does accurately represent some views about the state of the football club that we love on this forum* (local product is the way forward etc)
As for Harper Seven. Haven't had that before. Is is a good drop?

Clearly the model to follow is an ex-Perennial Strugglers Liverpool player.
Ray Clemence? That would free up Warner to play his natural striker's position.

I'm not really sure what the answer is, but maybe we need to look more at low driven crosses and balls cut back to our midfielders at the top of the penalty box. Greenacre can draw the defence away from the that sort of area while Ifil and Daniel/Bertos/Ward try to pull the ball back for Sanchez and Brown to run on to. Thoughts?

Aside from my sparkling wit, you didn't really miss anything from the last few pages.
But I assure you, Ricki is reading this thread for tactical and scouting insights.Aside from my sparkling wit, you didn't really miss anything from the last few pages.

Into his 3rd season and still they cant deliver it to him where he can be most affective.
Shame some of the others and younger ones dont put the effort in EVERY game that he does.

that goal was interesting because it was nothing like the way we had been playing the rest of the game and it caught ccm napping. the through balls have got potential against teams playing the offside trap like ccm were attempting on that instance but if the opposition are sitting deeper it might not work so well. With the exception of the last game I thought I wing play has been excellent this season up until the point where we try to cross and then it all just falls down. That's why I was thinking of the driven cross or the ball cut back would be a way to utilise that wide attacking play instead of crossing high into the box for our ghost target man. Its like no one told our wingers we didn't actually sign Chris Killen

Actually, they're crossing for the windmill.
Given the nix ability to generally turn sh*t player into good.. could this be an option?

I don't know about this, there were a couple of moments on Friday and plenty more in the preceeding games where the midfield were passing very well. I don't think its a lack of skill, more a lack of confidence.

I hear there is a young, up and coming playmaker in Melbourne, who has been dropped to the bench and isn't getting game time anymore, sign him up Ricki?

I suspect Warner might have something to say about that.

yeah no sh*t. its an interesting one, as if Paston wasnt injury prone we could rely on him and have a domestic bench warmer (a bit like crowther, great untill he plays). We have been lucky getting quality keepers in the past who have been australian (reddy and Vukovic) who are level or better than paston, but if we get a bench warmer to free up a international spot and paston gets injured then we're all alone with a crowther play-a-like. if only paston wasnt made of glass. Therefore we have to spend an international spot on goal keeper, and warner is a good one, just a shame as we need help outfield.WellingtonPFC2011-11-07 10:53:52

He might do, but i doubt anyone will understand him
