what game were you watching ?
it was very average.
Because if you actually look at the laws of the game it was a fair call.

Why? We dominated a team we haven't beat before most of the game and should've won. I swear some people watch different games. It was disappointing not to win but we certainly improved about 100x from last week.

Besides the obvious disappointment of not shooting on target to keep their GK busy, everything else you said is so off the mark it's not funny.

Yeah that actually doesnt sound like a bad idea!

The way we started I thought we were going to run over them - and should have but for some poor shooting. Second half we were flat until the last 10 minutes - I thought we would have come out from the half time team talk with a real urgency but ......
Normo's coming home
WTF was everyone?!! 7500 on a clear Friday night is f**king piss poor effort, considering we got 10,000 to the first home game on a cold wet miserable Sunday afternoon.
Disappointed on the offside call, but regardless of that, I think the Ref made some other poor calls towards the end of the match.
And the Phoenix look much better in the game when they're actively trying to create chances. Tonight they played like they did against Perth, and complete opposite of how they played against Sydney.
Ricki needs to take whatever he put in the water bottles, and keep adding it for the rest of the season.Ard Righ2009-09-04 22:49:26

In general, I agree with your comments, apart from some of the criticism that you make really that pisses me off at times (every so often). Secondly, while I was sat the game, I didn't quite have the time to pull out my rule book, sorry about that one, I'll remember to bring it in future. Lack of the voice to prove it. Way I see it, had we scored that goal, I dont think there would have been complaints from the Reds forum that there may very well be on here later (but need to see a replay again myself).
Good opening 30 minutes and then they seemed to lose their way.Just how they expect Greenacre to compete in the air against some of the defenders has me stuffed. We look much better when they keep it on the floor.
GET YOUR SHIRTS OFF FOR THE BOYS
again, Greenacre was not trying to attack the ball................. thus play should have continued.
and quite frankly - that my friend is END OF !
i can't tell you how much you are wrong.
because he's actually saying something intelligent?
f**k me it's like youtube comments...

While there were some kids there tonight, people never seem to really factor just how many come on a Sunday. I know of at least one soccer tournament up the coast tomorrow morning and getting into bed at 11 wasn't going to be great preparation.
A player in an offside position is only penalised if, at the moment the
ball touches or is played by one of his team, he is, in the opinion of
the referee, involved in active play by:
 interfering with play or
 interfering with an opponent or
gaining an advantage by being in that position
Normo's coming home
well, it could easily be argued that Greenacre was interfering with an opponent
i'll tell you why this is - it's because NO ONE CAN PASS THE f**kING BALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
brown ? - HAHAHAHAHAHAH. NO. NO HE CAN'T. he passes back. again, again and again.
an elephant has a better pass on him than Brown.
there is only 3 players that can pass accurately (Bertos, Ifill, Greenacre)
the rest are embarrassing.

Of those I can only think that possible b) greenacre was interfering with an opponent. From the replays I saw at the RoF - it didnt look like it too me. Unless someone can post otherwise (i.e. youtube) I disagree that it was offside.
And for all the anst... wtf seriously? It was a far more accomplished game both on and off the ball that we played against Sydney. I don't expect the nix to win every game but with a bit of consistency, we should be up there with the best teams in the league. Our front two (Ifill/Greenacre) have better credentials together than every other team in the league, and we showed a lot more in defense than we have so far. Owusu and Christiano are not to be laughed at, the fact that they missed easy chances I think were attirbuted as much to close marking/defending as to lack of clinical finishing from Adelaide's 'highly fancied' front pairing.
You can move towards the ball in an offside position and still be considered not to be interfering in play (see explanatory notes). Interfering with play does have quite a high threshold these days
Djtim, I think we're on the same page. Ignore idiots like whoooooo who really have no idea james dean2009-09-04 23:08:47Normo's coming home
maybe after next weeks AW exertions we wil get to see some fresh faces and ideas...
