Not sure why he wasn't been playing for the reserves in central league, definitely needs the minutes since he didn't get any during the season.

Timmy deserves all the South American fame he can get. There are worse places to play football than Paraguay, Chile or Uruguay.
Not sure I would wish upon him playing in Argentina though.
Paraguay, Uruguay or Chile are footballing countries, but (with utmost respect) Argentina is both a country and a state of mind.

Never been to Paraguay but I've heard it described as uncomfortably humid, a bit boring and Asunción a touch dodgy.
I enjoyed my few days in Santiago, but it's a big city. Well organised by Latin American standards.
If you want somewhere slower paced, similar climate and very safe like NZ (remembering Timmy has a kid now) 100% it's Montevideo & Uruguay.
My brother lives there now and enjoys it. His young girls are learning to horse ride there, like little gauchos. When in Rome. Bilingual school.
Mrs Payne is a native Latino so yeah why not try somewhere different.
Great chance for Payne junior to quickly be proficient in his mother's language. So much easier when totally away from an English speaking environment. You only live once.

Agreed that Uruguay would be my choice too. Top place in Southern Sth America.
I only commented on Paraguay because of the club interest, but agree that Asuncion is not Montevideo, let alone Santiago or Bs.As.

Seeing interest from overseas (outside the A-League) makes it really hit home how hard it will be for us to keep him this off season

Spelling mistake by me there - meant to be Olimpia - I would edit it but that usually stops the tweet showing in the message when I do

Hopefully we hear what sort of transfer fee the club gets at some point - He still had 2 years on his contract with us right?

Happy for him if it’s true.
Hopefully the nix get a fee for him and haven’t just let him go for free.
Sheridan and Loke need to step up if he has gone
Two years left on his contract. We would be bonkers if we let him go on a free.
Some much needed money for the club, but I'm also a bit sad if true because he's been a great servant for the club too.

Fee will not be significant, doubt itd be north of 100k, may even be nothing. Nix will be comfortable just getting one of their highest earning player's wages off the books, as he has been very injury prone in the last two years, and won't be standing in the way of an adventure (and a probable big pay bump) for Tim when they have Sheridan & Loke waiting in the wings, so they wont be demanding much.
Besides, Payney is 32, a Paraguayan team isnt going to be paying anything even remotely close to what wealthy European & American sides have paid for our young guns who had massive potential resale value when we sold them.
Somewhat gutting when we had on paper a title-winning back 4 when McGarry signed. But I believe one of Shez and Xuan can rise to the occasion.

Felt Loke was on the rise at the end of last year and looked the goods. Hopefully he gets a chance for more minutes next season and take the opportunity. Having said that Sheridan also made some progress as well so perhaps that was a factor in letting Payne go.

Olyimpa have paid fees for a few players every transfer window, the highest I saw was 2 mil euros. A few fees for players in their late 20's between the 300-500k euros range. I could see them paying 150-300k euros for Payne tbh which would be very decent converted to NZD. If we somehow get something 300k> it'll be a very good bit of business.

No mention of Scholarship here, so must be a Senior deal.
https://wellingtonphoenix.com/news/nix-sign-towering-young-keeper-to-his-first-pro-contract/
So that is two Senior Keepers, so don't hold your breath for a 3rd Keeper being signed unless there is one that is too good to pass on (eg like what happened with Vukovic back in the day)

Having looked back at the press releases from when they were signed, those that are listed as being scholarship players are now on full deals going into the 26/27 season.

I agree, the club really needs to stop going for over the hill ex players too.
just because you played for the club previously doesn't mean you should be able to walk straight back in as a player/coach.
