This is horrific to watch and shows that Chiefy's comments last week were all talk no show.

It genuinely looks like our team are still on the plane coming over from Welly.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Well this is just soulless and depressing to watch.
Why can’t we try to WIN games and ATTACK opposition ??

Chiefy has a lot to answer for. This is diabolical.

On this occasion I agree 100% with nufc_nz.
No sensible coach should advise persisting with playing out from the goalkeeper and ignore long passes.

I'm not able to watch the game. I know the scoreline but how is it looking? Are we in it at least?

Absolutely. City are panicking. They’ve already pulled Kuen and brought on Schreiber.

I was left unsupervised with fireworks a lot as a child, and even I can count the number of touches we've had in their half on one hand

Al-Taay and Walker on for Sheridan and Nagasawa at half time pls

You have to woinder WTF the team is being asked to do, and if we even have the players to do it.
Cheif's plan is to absorb pressure and cpontrol the game wthout the ball (whatever that looks like).
But right now we cant even defend with 5 at the back!
Nothing in attack today, no shots, no sorners nothing in the attacking third of the pitch - so horrid. All this with the 3rd oldest starting lineup in the league (experienced apparently).
Retre has been dead average today, offering nothing, same with Nagaswawa. LBS is the only one really moving. Not that the defensive 5 would pass him the ball cos they are too busy knocking it back to the keeper who doesnt want it!

We just dpont have the players to hit a team on the fast break - why? - we sold them all last season.

We've managed to make it to our own half, but are receding quickly from it

Chief's got a big plan lads. He will see out that 1-0 loss with a solid back 5. Only losing 1-0 is a great result away in Melbourne.

We surely come out in the second half with a completely difference tactical approach???

First half over. The only conclusion I can draw is that WelNix need to extend Rufer's contract by ten years. Otherwise we play like a motherless child.

We'll keep defending deep and playing on the counter, except we'll bring on some physicality and pace in Zawada and Sotirio in the second half....oh wait

Rufer out but his current form wasn't great anyway imo. A chance for Al-Taay to shine? City are missing some good players but have enough quality.

I'd like us to go there and play an aggressive attacking style, heap pressure on them early on, although I don't think we will. We'll pass backwards and defend with 11 players around our box, playing hopeful balls to Kosta... Hopefully not.
Rufer apparently has Glandular Fever and seems he has been playing with it any wonder his performances have been down. pity some others in the squad dont show his dedication to the cause.
Really do wonder about all of Chiefs talk sadly  seems to be just that because the team certainly arnt showing they understand how to deliver what he says.

Apart from the goal they didn’t really get a good look. Loved to see a crap shot from distance from Ugarkovic just like the one we used to know.

Loved that crunching tackle from Brooke-Smith.

It’s not that bad tbh, considering no Rufer. Certainly could be worse after the early goal.

We are a one trick pony - sit back the entire game, give up possession to the opposition, TRY and hit on the counter and get lucky.

So defensive, so negative, SO boring.

Let's be real, this is just terrible to watch.

I would hope so. Otherwise it is time to start a "Chiefy out" thread.  We are losing to a side that is not even trying very hard.

We need to have a couple of more Senior pros throughout the squad. Rufer seems to carry the team and with him out today none of the other experienced players are putting their hands up - I was hoping Payne stand up - hopefully he can lead us in the second half

I'm glad the forum has been down for me that first half.

That was one of the worst 45 minutes of football I've seen us play ever. Followed closely by the first half against Newcastle last week.

I reckon we should play around with the ball at the back and after stringing 4 or 5 passes, we should hoof upfield to the City plays as a new tactic. Oh Hang on, we've been doing that for 46 minutes.

Realize you jest but dont get why people keep banging on about Zawada he barely played last season. When fit good but wasnt fit often enough

I think we’ll see at half time Al-Taay for one of the CBs and go to a back 4 and Walker/OVH for LBS but I feel like instead of 3 CMs we should only have the 2 and have Ishige drop to a 10 role and then LBS and Walker/OVH out wide we need more creative and attack focused players on the field.

While our dropping deep and inviting pressure was innovative last season, everyone has clocked on to how to beat it this season. I counted 3 times that we made it past half way following dropping it back to Josh. Time for a change in approach and fast.

We are losing to a side that is virtually a reserve team - not acceptable

Not a single touch in the opposition goal box... absolute dross.

I have never watched a worse half of football at any level.

No urgency, no imagination, nothing to be happy about.

Disgraceful!!

OVH and LKH on account of them having 3 letter abbreviations for their names.

I think City are nervous. We gave them one for free and sat in our box and they could scarcely manage another shot on. What’s guna happen if we choose to play? 😼

We are also losing to a side that has like 8 first 11 players out injured.

Tbf- I am deliciously drunk and in the middle of an all day New Year’s party. Lol lolol

I put my headphones on and the party was much noisier than City at home !

I thought it was going to be worse after that first goal. Now I’m just waiting to see…
