Edit: too much yap for the Match Fred. Put it in the squad speculation thread.

Big game, want to see first steps to redemption!

Fire it up! Technically game day in NZ!🔥 🔥

I am sure Italiano knows more about the Ball situation than we do.  But by not saying anything, he leaves some of us (well, me) with a sour taste thinking we could no worse than bringing Ball on halfway through second half last week (against Melbourne City B).

We keep saying City B , but a back line with Behich and Trewen and an experienced midfield, behind a bunch of young forwards keen to break through into professional football is still not a weak lineup by the standards of the league. And they’re second on the table.

Not to be pedantic, but they’d only be 6/7th if Phoenix had beaten them.

ETA.
…and Phoenix would be 8th

I want to hear some Ball we love you chants today or similar.

I want to see some football from the Nix with positive intent.
Those old cliché's
A week is a long time in sport
Your only as good as your last game.
Hopefully the football leads to a more positive forum this coming week.

Good luck with Piper, Al Taay, Retre, Sheridan and Kelly Heald all starting. I'd say the WeeNix would give this team a run for their money. The only one of these possibly starting for another A-League team (aside from Brisbane/Perth/Newcastle) is  Retre.

Huge indictment for Nagasawa that he's on the bench with this sorry lot starting

I can't believe Piper is getting more game time. He must be the best trainer in the world because he genuinely looks like one of the worst players to ever put on a Nix shirt so far

At least the starting XI has been shaken up a bit. Piper up front somewhere?

Edit: With this lineup I'd put him as the 9 and the rest of the team sorts itself into a 5-2-3 formation

It's been 'shaken up' because we have injuries

Guess I was meaning it is good to see people like LKH and al-Taay come in, who were both decent last season. I'm sick of the sight of Walker and Nagasawa and LBS

Still no Conchie is a bit weird - started the first three and now just on the outer.

Both of these players aren't good enough, which is why they didn't play.

Also wondering what happened to Conchie who imo started much better this year than last year?

Back 5 with Piper or Sheridan at RWB?
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.
Nix fan since day 1, but I'm not sure that even I can take it if we start with a back 5, sit back, concede possession, and pass the ball sideways under a full court press from Adelaide.

Will try be optimistic, but looks like we are playing 5 at the back again.

Predicting an Adelaide win. Let's hope I'm proven wrong.

Lineup looks like a 4-4-2.
Backline
LKH Wootton Hughes Sheridan
Piper midfield + Sutts pushed further forward on the left.

How it plays out may look entirely different however...

Initially I thought it was a farken back 6!

These constant YF Forum outages are doing my head in.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Was really not happy with the booing in the crowd. I was frustrated too but that felt yuk.

Need to see more attacking intent from us this 2nd half

We can't expect to turn this result around if we aren't taking shots

Need to see more attacking intent from us this 2nd half

My god yes.  So many passes forward and nobody moving to be on the end of them.

Breaks down the wing and nobody running up the center.

She's pretty rough.  I hope the locker room is ok and we are just shark.

LBS for LKH second half, wIth Sutton to LB?
Better all round IMO, and a big improvement from Piper.

Why does the forum keep shutting down??? Sort it out ffs.

Sutton looks like he's injured himself

Walker on for Sutton.

LKH is diabolical tbh.

Okay guys let's get inspired. Let's get the fire back. Adelaide have been hopeless in the final third. Let's make them rue their missed chances!
Sums it up really when we are chasing the game and sub the guy who actually scored a goal.

And was looking pretty dangerous.

Especially considering we started going long in the last 10 mins.
Much better second half from us, so frustrating how we conceded that second goal, Josh had collected the ball, Wootton got in his way, Josh dropped it, and it fell to Jovanovic.

God damn this forum being down.

Anyways.

Despite the result today, there are more than a few people on here who are in need of rescinding/eating their words re: Corban Piper.

That is all.

Even the yellow fever site has had enough of this current side

Disagree, apart from the goal he lost the ball countless times and has a pretty poor touch, Brooke Smith offers far more

Memo to Phoenix players....Could you please stop kicking the ball into your own net.....thanks
Today was a better effort, against a good team. Ruined by an own goal and a goal from a keeper error. Its going to be a long season but hopefully some of the youngsters will develop.

If you can't see that he was the best on show in a yellow shirt today then you must be Stevie Wonder...

it seems quite fitting though - the functionality of our website reflecting the current state of our team!  (Well the men's one ...)
