Ticketmaster says there are no away seats left. Did we sellout our zone??
Yes but I'm not sure how many actual Nix fans there. I had to get tickets behind the plonkers (port) for that reason. Will still wear yellow.
Nix fans are very accommodating, come squeeze in with us
Absolutely.
Last time our bay seemed to be a standing area by default, and nobody was too precious about precise seat numbers. Safe to assume it’s the same this time round, even with AFC’s antics around releasing away tickets?
Hopefully someone has told Auckland Transport to add extra carriages on the 3:31pm Southern Line. Everyone was packed in like sardines last time.
Phoenix don't have a players mum on the board of Auckland Transport any more, but yes it was silly that that was a 3 carriage and not a 6 carriage train last time out. Perhaps also move a bit quicker or slower so that the parade does not get cut in half by the next train at the level crossing again.

Our train gets to Penrose at 3:50, and the northbound Onehunga Line service that broke us up last time is due through about 3:59 - so depending on how much faith we have in AT’s punctuality we should be able to avoid it.
"The best game of the season so far was (the) Sydney derby. We want to match that. We want to give our fans something to be proud of as well. Auckland are deservedly first at the moment, but we're going to go there and try to spoil the party"
Interesting how he says "try" and not "will" at the end there. Like, eh, they'll try but we all know that probably won't happen lmao
Chiefy talked big before the second derby and got humbled big time. If he couldn't even be brave enough to say the recent Brisbane game was a must win and that we would win that game, why would he say that about this one?

If he's fit, and been training with the squad close to 2 weeks by this Saturday, might as well start him.
With expectations so low, Nix have absolutely nothing to lose. 0-0 draws ain't much use from now on, so might as well get Chico involved as much as possible, if he's to lead the Nix to finals football.
One bonus is that AFC won't know much about Geraldes at all.

True. They crossed paths at Rio Ave in season 2020/21.
Geraldes playing for the 1st team, with Pjinaker playing mostly for the 2nd team. But Nando also had 8 bench appearances (zero mins) for the senior side in the Primeira Liga.
I would start with Piper just because of the energy he brings and his physicality. The physical battle is something that Auckland usually win in their games, so we need to combat that and keep some mystery (Chico) up our sleeves.
He is hoping he will be able to play as much as 60 minutes this Saturday, when they head north to face league leaders Auckland FC in the third and final New Zealand derby of the season.

This next game is the moment for chief to prove his style and the players to show what they can do and I'm hyped for it. We have chico now who both can play number 10 and is apparently really class, we have Rufer and Payne back for the full 90 (Rufer said he could play 60 atm but I feel he will play 90 unless we are getting thrashed), and it's the final derby against top of the table in front of a sell out crowd with big away support to save our playoff chances/the season so you know they lads will be up for it (especially because the other derby games we played well, but lost out due to silly errors so they will want revenge). I think every other game so far you can give chief and the players the benefit of the doubt (to a degree) for performance as it's either been huge errors, relying on inexperienced/new players to step up when they aren't ready, or missing key players for many games that has caused us to be where we are now on the table.
I hope we play 4-3-3 with chico and rufer starting and try to surprise them with a proactive and attacking first half as Auckland are usually pretty slow getting into games and they won't expect it from us. I feel we are more likely to play defensively for the first half with 5 at the back or double 6 (hopefully with rufer) to hold them off and then second half sub on chico and rufer if not already on and try to snatch a late victory which is less ideal, but I will take that sort of win.
Auckland do look really good now and it will be tough especially without Sutts, but we are a lot better than what the table suggests with a full squad and we have far more to play for so I do believe we will show up and have a good game.
I'm pretty sure Rufs will start and see how long he can go for. I doubt that Chico will start, but you never know. I hope Piper starts, which would help match their physicality, but sure what position I'd play him. Payne's work down the right flank means he's got to start there. LKH needs the game of his life. Time for Ishige to shine again.

I get that Chico probably won't start, but I really want him on the pitch at the same time as Rufs - as Rufs is really the only player we have that can get the ball and turn our defence into attack, and without him on the pitch I'm not sure how much service we can get to Chico in attacking midfield

If Rufs does 60 and Chico is up for a half then he may come on at the break for Retre.
Im just worried that AFC will choke us out of the game like they did last time. They are so tight at the back and leave very little space in midfield. We are struggling in attack so its hard to see us regularly threatening their goal. I hope we can nick a goal and just hold them out. I would settle for a draw.

I can't see how we win this game at all. We struggle to score against teams far less well organised at the back. Auckland won't give us the air to breath and will exploit our poor defense. I just hope its not a blow out.
The way we play is so boring, its almost a win for football every time we lose. Maybe we do something different/better with a new number 10.
