Will be interesting how we target this game. If we go all out and try to go for the win or hold out for a scrappy win/draw. This is the one game we probably can afford to lose so I would like to see us go all out and build some attacking confidence going into the last 3 games.

I think some mild optimism is warranted here. Greenies helped up bounce back after the derby slump and we're still in range for finals all things considered. Vuck are 3rd on the ladder though so not gonna be an easy game

Are we staying in Melbourne for the week? Makes sense if budget allows.
If we get four points from these two games Greenie has the job. Not saying though less than that and he does not

We've stayed over previously so it makes sense.
3 must win games to go, surely you'd think Greenies continuation in the job lng term requires top 6 minimum, which means 3 wins!

I hope everyone is fit and ready to go.
9 years is too long to wait for a win in Victoria. To appease the football gods I am making a donation to a Melbourne charity. COYN

Unless you don’t count the FFA cup win against City in 2021. 9 years without a win at Allianz though

One of Wellington Phoenix’s most iconic duos have reunited to help the team’s late push for a spot in the A-League Men finals.
One of Wellington Phoenix’s most iconic duos have reunited to help the team’s late push for a spot in the A-League Men finals.
Club legend Paul Ifill was invited by coach Chris Greenacre to help run training on Thursday, with Greenacre hoping his former strike partner’s presence would give the players some inspiration ahead of a potential season-defining fortnight.
The Phoenix traditionally struggle at AAMI Park but play Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City in back-to-back weekends.
Other notable inclusions at training on Thursday were injured Japanese import Hideki Ishige and All Whites midfielder Sarpreet Singh.
Other notable inclusions at training on Thursday were injured Japanese import Hideki Ishige and All Whites midfielder Sarpreet Singh.
Ishige suffered a season-ending ACL injury early into the campaign and was released from his contract so the Phoenix could bring in a replacement during the January window; Sander Kartum.
The return of Singh was also set to provide the Phoenix with extra creativity in Ishige’s absence, only for him to sustain a knee injury of his own in his first game back.
After undergoing surgery in Japan, Ishige has returned to Wellington to complete his rehabilitation. While he cannot play, Greenacre said it gave the rest of his team a big lift to see him back on the training pitch.
Singh won’t travel to Melbourne but remains on track to return in the final two rounds – which could be the extra boost the Phoenix need to secure a top-six finish if they can navigate the two Melbourne matches.

Finally we are seeing from the club an attempt to reestablish some sort of culture back in the Nix. Lots of club use ex legends as ambassadors to help guide the newer players. Siggy, Ifill and Greenacre are exactly the sort of people you need. I would like to see Greenie as coach next year and Ifill or someone like Durante or Elliot as director of football. Gill has not done a great job in the last couple of years IMO.

I hadn't considered the FFA cup win to be fair. Allianz we managed to win at this season in January, who can forget the 2 nil win over Sydney and ruining their home coming lol. But AAMI park has been where Phoenix dreams go to die.

Ah yes i meant AAMI park, it is bizarre how bad our record is there with 2 teams playing there you'd think we'd sneak a win every now and then.
