The meet and greet in Wellington is an informal one in the Welsh pub from when the game ends until they get on the plane…
The Dragon’s cosy at the best of times, it’s going to be a mosh pit on the 19th (saying that, crowd-surfing to the bar to get your beer does sound entertaining).
Good news is no bus replacements for the trains. Forecast might change by Saturday but looking like a bit of sun at least. Good weather and we might get past 20k. With more buzz building next week. Wonder what fun activities they have on their agenda here? 🤔
Fin Conchie Hideki Ishige (V) Kazuki Nagasawa (V) Josh Oluwayemi (V) Paulo Retre Alex Rufer Luke Supyk Corban Piper Luke Brooke-Smith Alby Kelly-Heald Lukas Kelly-Heald Xuan Loke Gabriel Sloane-Rodrigues Jayden Smith Isaac Hughes Tim Payne Matt Sheridan Nathan Walker Will be these guys without Alby and maybe any trialists and some from the reserve team.
Don't forget Gill said they will basically change the whole team at HT, so you'd expect it will be a very young team play the 2nd half.
With The Championship not far away from starting Wrexham are likely taking this match a bit more seriously than the Nix. Certainly their players will be more match fit.

Piper mentioned on ZB with Piney that he's been rehabing a groin niggle since the Australia Cup game, says he'll be good for the start of the season but will miss the Wrexham friendly
Edit: Also obviously means he won't be available for the Aus Cup game vs Glory either
Well this is terrible news. When will our injury woes end???? Was Corbin was our second highest goal scorer last season?
As much as I'm looking forward to this match, it could end up being our worst defeat at home ever! Hardly the competitive game Phil Parkin will be wanting.
Looking at some of the footage from OZ there was a replica of the famous Turf Pub set up for fans. That maybe the marquee that is being talked about. The publican of the Turf is on tour with Wrexham and there appeared to be a fair bit of Wrexham Lager available
Who wears the captains armband? Surely we need to pull more players from the reserve team.
It's an add on exhibition game, where probably half the crowd or more are there to watch Wrexham. The captaincy ain't that important, but maybe a tossup between Hughes & Retre? You want someone with good English to lead the team
10-11 players on the bench who will mostly be subbed on at HT/early 2nd half. Dylan Gardiner, Anaru Cassidy, Fergus Gillion, Luke Mitchell, Ryan Watson, Nick Murphy, Luke Flowerdew all candidates from the Weenix to also be in the match day squad.
Is Piper not fit? I'd start him somewhere.
The trip to Perth for the FA Cup, is the more important match. That's when you'd really want a stronger side available.
For some context in the Sydney v Wrexham game, both sides made wholesale changes at the 60 min mark, and Sydney basically fielded their NPL (Sydney II) team for the last 30+ mins.

No Piper has a groin niggle and will be out for this match and the Aus Cup match
Watched the Sydney v Wrexham game on the Duke channel last night and their game vs. Victory last week. They look about the level of an A-League side. Which is what Paul Ifill has said in the past: according to him, A-League is about bottom half Championship, top half League One level. Wrexham will definitely struggle in the Championship with their current modest squad, unless they make some decent signings before the transfer window closes.

I read that his Mum and family is in Wrexham visiting relatives. So, they watched the game from there. And his Aunt is a paramedic at Wrexham home games. Quite something!

I only watched the first half and thought Wrexham were a step up from SFC and also their own performance against MV. The pitch was better and Wrexham were definitely moving the ball better than SFC and able cut out SFC attacks pretty quick.
