Having looked at a couple of threads on todays game im know convinced that i wasnt there at all and must have just thought i attended. On another matter i wish Leo could add some variety to his free kicks insted of trying to repeat his earlier effort everytime as thats just not working.

That's an echo of my thoughts after Ferrante's header straight at he keeper.

Greenache?

Sorry I mean Greenacre. Hey I am Dyslexic which is why for most of my posts, I have to edit to save my embarrassment. It's my problem with phonetic analysis.

Yes, I did, and I understand what he is saying, fairly in depth thinking about what some people are talking about the way we are playing, or possibly should be playing at the moment.

I still think that we need to get the players forward to support Greenacre quicker, or play Ifill just off him with licence to get forward, as he seemed to be doign for a bit of the first half today, which seemed to work.

Playing Leo in the middle on the otherhand doesn't seem to be working...

I have asked the question a couple of times and some people have response with yes.

I tend to forget to bold any highlighted points while I struggle with the dyslexic corrections. But I try when I remember to bold the points as it would be helpful. But I do forget. So forgive and bear with me.

ten mins of highlights for those with strong control not to punch the screen.

Jeezus, I thought Daniel was maybe a bit unfortunate when I seen that chance at the game but that was a shocking miss, no two ways about it.

Ferrante's header late on was bad as well, GOT to hit the target with those!

Lochhead culpable for the goal for me, should have got a block in rather than pulling the shirt of the scorer!

Same!

No point blaming the referee, Herbert, Ferante or anyone else for this one. All 11 men on the paddock are professional footballers who have been playing the game for probably all of their lives.

If I was Laurie McKinna or Miron the Moron I would be sh*tting myself right now if i'd watched that match because, call me an optomist if you like,  I think that we are not too far away from dishing out an absolute belting of a team or two and for every game that we play is one closer to that day. At to be perfectly honest I can't fecking wait!!!

that's the way I look at it too, I mean with each week that goes by I'm sure all the players and management get more and more rarked up. Its a matter of time before we do some damage on a consistant basis

hopefully against ccm and gcu!!!!!!

we play better when we're the underdogs.

but in saying all this NO MORE GIVING MONEY TO THE TAB!!!!!!!!!

I was annoyed at the number of off-the-ball body checks in the game which the referee did not blow up for us. Maybe with the extra officials that FIFA is trying out at the Europa League will help here.

But thats football for ya.
The only real positive out of this week is that we are only 6 points adrift from the top two.I believe if we just hang in there, everything will hopefully fall into place and we will start winning sooner rather than later.

pretty dissapointed. Especially looking back at our chances. Especially Daniels and Ferrante's. Think we could have easily been 3 or 4 up before the end. But thats what has happening each week.

Think it calls for perhaps making the hard calls when it comes to that bench. We need impact players and Ferrante for me isnt it. Caceres YES. him and Daniel are beginning a new rivalry for a start I feel. I would be happy for Daniel to have competition because every time he gets complacent his workrates start dropping. Either one could start for me and both offer impact if coming off a bench. Ferrante could be given the cut, especially when McKain is back.

I would look at a bench with Rojas/ Chen/ Costa instead of Michael next week. And Hearfield really needs to step it up for me too. He hasn't under achieved for me but when you are coming off a bench every week, you really need to be putting your hand up and I don't think he has proven himself for all the time he has been given. With so many players wanting a chance who don't make the bench, I want to see more pressure on these guys to step it up or lose their spot

Agreed -  to those saying we're not going to be in the top 6, remember that in both of the previous seasons we've gone into the last month or so within reach of a top 4 spot. This was when we were merely "competitive" (read "hanging in there and not getting belted")

In both seasons, we weren't completely out of our depth, but neither did we really look as though we were a finals team.

So far, we've dominated for large parts of games and been a little unlucky not to get more than a draw. However, for once I think we've shown there's no team that's a class above us (so far), as there has been in the past (Melb, Adelaide last season).

There's enough games left for us to stay in the playoff hunt (currently a win off 6th). Having said that, if we don't make the playoffs for the 3rd time running (the top 6 of a 10 team competition), then serious questions will have to be asked.

You can play the most attractive football in the world but at the end of the day someone has to stick the ball in the back of the net. The big problem for the Phoenix is that we have got loads of players who just are not natural goal scorers. Bertos, Ferrante, Daniel, Hearfield, Lia, Muscat, Lochy etc have NEVER scored goals on a regular basis.

Our only natural scorers....i.e those that have scored a heapof goals are Greenacre and to a lesser extent Ifill. So how about the coaching staff working out how they are going to get Greenacre into a position where he gets 3 or 4 chances a game.....coz if they do there is a high probability he will bury more than 50% of them.

Ferrante missed a sitter against the Roar, he missed a sitter today. There is no point having an attack that ends up with the guy putting in the final shot not having any shooting ability....its just plain STUPID.

I don't believe its worth bagging individual players coz they are all trying but you should not adopt a game plan that puts none finishers in a finishing role.

We have too many journeyman midfielders, honest hardworking etc but the first seven rounds have shown that unless we get the right balls into the right players we will be stuck at the arse end of the table.

I think Ricki sees that too....thats why the surprise signing of Caceras. For someone out of the game for a while he showed some promising signs. Forget the likes of Ferrante and Hearfield as impact subs....its just not working. Our "A" team is good....we need more off the bench

Although I am sure many of you are already aware of this...

1. The Fury goal went in at 93:35 in what was supposed to have been 3 minutes of stoppage time.

2. Phoenix are now unbeaten in last 9 home games.

Think he did it so that he could stack the midfield and protect the lead, ie one less attacking midfielder, one more central midfielder

Well, since we missed more sitters again this week, does that mean the midfield rotation policy will see Diego back for the next game against CCM?

I do think Ferrante is very much a journeyman player, he has never really struck any decent shots at goal.

And Tim Brown, while he provides some good work in midfield, I wish he would leave the goal scoring chances to someone with a better than 25% chance of getting one in the net.

Which means people need to get into the box. We definitely lost a lot of our go-forward when Ifill came off, and that's why it's crap we don't have a striker warming the woodwork, instead of another over-supply of journeymen midfielders.Ard Righ2009-09-21 07:48:45

I agreed with much of the reset of it Zidane, but Caceras is the DEFINITION of a journeyman midfielder.  He has had 12 clubs in the last 10 years.

That's right TWELVE IN TEN.  And he's never stayed more than a one and a bit seasons, anywhere, ever.

So I hope you're right and he's a cut above Ferrante (or Christie, or Lia) but evidence would suggest that's doubtful.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

The injury sub for Ifill, the injury sub for Muscat or the like for like sub of Caceras on for Daniel.
