It may have already mentioned, but I reckon it would be great to play Barbados or Malta, and bill it as Team Ifill/Manny vs New Zealand to drum up some publicity

I always smile when I see these two guys mentioned as playing for Malta and Barbados.
One is a pom and the other an aussie. One born in England the other in Australia.

I know what you mean, but that wasn't quite my point, I was more meaning the opportunity for marketing / a bit of banter would be great

Sounds like two home games in March against world cup nations.

I'm gonna guess Chile or Uruguay.

Not sure they'll be at home...I think NZF were aiming for the match(es) in the March international window to be away.

Yeah I got the impression of away games.

Then Chile/Uruguay would make sense, as would Japan/Korea [in terms of proximity to each other].

Yeah my bad.  Forgot about this quote from a while ago. "On top of that he confirmed the All Whites are set to play an away friendly in March."

Think it is likely to be an Asian team (Japan or Korea).

Can't see it being an European team because the article mentions a team that performed well but was on par with Paraguay/Honduras.  So the only team falling into that category would be Slovakia.

Chile or Uruguay as an outside chance.

In fact I know it is Russian as I used to buy it from Moscow taxi drivers in the late 80s.

Can't see it happening.  Its pretty much down to four choices: Swiss, Japan, Korea, North Korea. Hoping it is one of the Asian teams, as I will probably go to it.

A pedant notes: the DPRK don't actually call Kim Jong-Il "Dear Leader" any more. It's just "The Leader" or "General KJI" these days.

I'd go to Japan or South Korea. I'm not sure North Korea would be such a good idea.

I duuno.  But maybe fp is slightly uncomfortable at going to one of the most expensive countries on the planet (for foreign visitors), whereby 100% of what tourists spend goes straight to the coffers of the brutal North Korean leadership.  A leadership whose number one goal is regime survial not matter at what price and by any means possible.

If you do get to go Buff, make sure you you give us all a run down on tourist attractions, restaurants, bars, night clubs etc.
I'm sure you would enjoy it, but to most it would be boring.

Firstly, they're not fond of journalists - I'd hate to end up in jail. Secondly, I have an uneasy feeling with going to countries where your money effectively helps prop up a regime which oppresses its people. Sure there are several countries with questionable human rights records, but with North Korea there is no question. I'm sure it is an amazing country, but I'd prefer to visit Japan or South Korea.
