Maybe too late in the piece for organising this, but what about a mass walk-up to the stadium through the city? I realise that the YF/WN faithful are probably planning to do this from the Backbencher, but what about a student march-style parade down Willis St and Lambton Quay, all dressed in white, and chanting. (Giving newbies plenty of practise before they get to the ground)

Even in 1 out of every 5 fans attending turns up, that's still 7000 or so. Will certainly get the attention of the weekend shoppers, and in turn raise the profile of the event and the team, especially if we get through.
I'd come if it was organised.

from stuff.co.nz

Five hundred more football fans will get to watch the All Whites play Bahrain live in Wellington later this month after Football New Zealand announced extra seating today.

The All Whites play Bahrain at Westpac Stadium in a World Cup qualifier on November 14, with 34,500 tickets already sold a month out from the fixture.

Football New Zealand communications manager Jamie Scott said chairman Frank van Hattum had met with FIFA representatives in Zurich last week and had convinced them the proposal should go ahead.

There had been initial suggestions that up to 3000 extra seats could be added but Mr Scott said this was never a real possibility.

"I think 500 is manageable in terms of the security needs and access to toilets and all those sort of things as well."

The seats will be located at pitchside on the western side of the stadium.

He said FIFA rules meant having seats in front of the grandstand had to be okayed as the rules applied to all football fixtures worldwide.

"In a place like Germany or Spain or England it just wouldn't be a goer," he said.

"But we're not those countries so we just needed to convince FIFA that the security we've got in place and will go in place for the extra seats will be sufficient to mitigate any possible trouble."

The $39 seats will go on sale on Friday morning through Ticketek.

The last lot of extra seating, sold in September, sold out in 10 minutes, Mr Scott said.

"We always thought we were going to sell it out, with the size of the event, but we were surprised that it sold out a month in advance."

NZF Chief Executive Michael Glading said they were pleased to offer more affordable tickets as scalpers attempted to cash in.

"We're extremely disappointed that some people are scalping tickets and therefore profiteering through an event that we intentionally priced accessibly for football fans from all over the country," he said.

"But we can now offer 500 fans who missed out the chance to get their wish without having to be taken to the cleaners."

Are the Phoenix aiding the AWs in any way? I mean will non-AWs Phoenix players have a game vs AWs or help at training?

Excited by Tim Brown's form, good to see him getting up and into the box. Often people give him a bit of stick but he grafts pretty hard.

Hoping he doesn't go missing on the 14th, because as Ricki said in the interview with SBS, winning the midfield and possession will be very important.

have waited a long time for this moment after following the 1982 campaign i think we can make it . maybe either 2-0 or 2-1.   it will be vital for us to score first and hopefully  get a really unusual wellington  day by having a freezing cold night with a fair bit of rain to help us on the night.

All Whites qualify for 2010 World Cup and every age group FIFA tournament from here on....Phoenix become a force in A-league with big crowds.....
All Blacks don't win 2011 Rugby World Cup (an obscure contest)  , All Whites qualify for 2014 World Cup = seismic shift in national perception ....

im glad it was daniel and greenacre who missed the penalties. would hate it to have been two of the AW players especially if it goes to penalties and they have memories of missing their last penalty

Now that I am not going, shall we wish for rain and wind? The Bahrainis' would not be used to those conditions, whilst the majority of our players play in the UK/Wellington. Could it work to our advantage?

They'll be getting a work out on Sunday and then there will be 6 days to recover.   Slight problem if the nix play like they have for the last two home games (my voice took ages to recover after the 6-0 game).

I had an awesome idea....

the all whites should play aganst the nix non aw's in a "friendly" match

even if it's a training run just to try a few things. think it'd be good as they would be against Ifill, Greenie, Dura, Lia etc.....
