How many representatives of the Peoples Republik of Zealand's Aucklandia are likely to rise from their stupor and get the game next week?

Should be quite a few from the sounds of things - Ric Le Roc has been emailing the crew and I've been talking to quite a few at the club today who are coming

Good result from the lads in the end. Brilliant 3rd goal from Smeltz i have to say. Looked a bit dicey there early on in the 2nd half but they did well to absorb any pressure and deliver the knockout punch.

Three for me, and two for them.

What I find interesting is that there has been no comment about this making us Oceanian champions.

91' - New Zealand players are cramping up all over the pitch, suffering from the heat.

The internet says 26 with 54% humidity. Not overly bad, actually.

Nice work boys. A 3-1 victory away from home sounds like a decent enough result to me. Any analysis from those who actually watched the match instead of relying on Oceania's comments 10-15 minutes after events happened?

Smeltz was brilliant, I thought Brockie looked sharp too. Moss seemed to be caught out of position once or twice. Lochhead mixed woeful crosses with the sublime.

shocking and unacceptable performance. look at ricki's lineup. no uniformity in the way laces were tied up. some of the kicking the ball back to the trainer (pre-match) was sloppy. ricki's hair was untidy. this won't do at all.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

3-1 away is good result.

Thought we controlled things pretty well but lacked urgency at times, but finished strong

I think we're comparing apples with oranges if we think Asia's 5th placed team will be as easy as playing pacific island 'nations'....

In the end, the three points did seem to be ripe for the picking

Very poor performance.

Our movement is pathetic and non existant.
I only give credit to the build up for the second goal...the only move they did all match.

Sadly, not a chance against anyone from Asia.

Pretty disappointing really

Ill take a win but i have doubts now about the AW's ability to play through the middle, they like the Nix seemed to lack that ability.

I did enjoy the half-time show, especially the wise words of the Wellington coach.

completely inept performance.  the opposition were poor and we spent a lot of the game looking much the same.

over the next two games the emphasis needs to be put on ensuring that this team is well drilled and cohesive.  the potential is there and there are some good players on board, but they don't look like a team and some of the execution would leave a school kid ashamed.

I think we well be asking for some sort of double fluke for us to beat the 5th placed Asian side. Looked pretty average against a very soft New Caledonian team.

against the 5th Asian team we'll get well beat over two legs, the only difference in this route and the previous is that we're making in one step closer with Oz in Asia (but still one step away), but the end result is the same, we get nowhere, time to admit we're not that good, some of the play today was laughable against these amateurs, harsh it may seem but let's admit it will take something special for NZ to make a world cup again...

agree w ins a win but u so right re the midfield  whats it  going to be like in the confeds  why arent we playing  chris james in the midfield ,  cant even get on but playing fulltime central midfield at tampere champions league , has pace creativity in midfield  whcih seen in previous games  for AW thats what well need at the next stage, but whats going on that we dont kn about long way to fly , costs if u not going to use him whats the news

You really are a miserable bunch of bastards. I thought it was an effective performance against a team who were always going to be tough at home. We did all we needed to. For those of you using "inept" and "awful" you are so wrong, a loss would have been inept, not a win. Look up the word in the dictionary. It means "inappropriate" and "not what was required" and this result was quite the opposite.
Pack of misery-mongers.
