I have 3 category one tickets for all 3 group matches (ie 9 tickets in total) spare... I have put them up for resale on the FIFA site...so tickets are still available... you can contact me if you want them. face value of course!

Just received a package from FIFA with ticket confirmation documents for extra games and also some other stuff in it. It includes a prepaid sim card for MTN SA which is pretty cool.
It's all getting pretty real now. I've never received 'official' mail from FIFA before :-)

Its no longer a problem.

Ha...just got a text from my old flatties that a had a letter from Switzerland turn up at their place.

I got mine too!!  Very cool.  Have guest passes for a couple of you lads.

Will have to look into that sim card telco - something about calls for 2c a second...  Maybe if it's 2 south african cents a second it will be pretty cheap to use.

Damn good time to be buying Rand too, people, almost 6 per dollar earlier in the week.

mine arrived yesterday, bloody excited and over the moon getting a letter from FIFA head quarters all the way from Zurich, Switzerland

Addicks I have 2 of your guest tickets and 2 others for someone else but they will go under your name as they decide not to change it as they maxed out of their ticket allocation/numbers/limit?

really looking forward to this!

Of course you 1) need to be eligible for such a card and 2) need to actually pay your tickets using it (or some variant of this).

Check out www.flybuys.co.nz as they do cheap insurance but covering the important stuff, or www.state.co.nz has the same travel insurance slightly more expensive if you are not a Fly Buys member and can't be stuffed joining FBs (for free).

Does anyone have any tips on what to do about carrying money. I talked to some lady at the bank and she suggested using my credit card at $7.50 per transaction?!?! I DON'T THINK SO!!!!

I'm taking a certain amount of cash and a prepaid credit card that isn't linked to our bank accounts. Its a Loaded card. Don't intend spending a huge amount in SA other than food and the occasional beverage and maybe a few souvenirs. Hoping to spend a bit in Honk Kong and send it home (geek stuff and clothes mainly).

Its no longer a problem.

Which airline are you flying?

I've never seen above 8-bit gaming inflight, so the only football you'll probably encounter is NES Soccer:

Cash.

I'm assuming they have safes in the hotel rooms so as long as you can get from the airport to the hotel without being mugged, raped, murdered or hijacked then I reckon cash is the way to go and just use your plastic for those out of the ordinary things you might buy at reputable outlets.
If your credit card does get stolen, cloned whatever then you're covered anyway.

Funnily enough hitch hiking doesnt appeal to me in Jozi........

the Gautrain was supposed to be up and running but won't be in time it seems. THey have only completed the Airport to Sandton leg of the track.

Looks like it will be a cab then......

Looks like South Africa uses different power plugs to NZ, so you will need a converter to be able to use appliances/phones/cameras etc. there.

Everywhere uses different plugs to us.  Take one adapter, and an NZ powerboard if you have several things electronic.

There might be busses to Pretoria from O.R Tambo.

Isn't this how kids speak these days?  Everytime I see James Dean this is the sort of thing that he says to me so I assumed that it was widespread.

To put it in honkey then - Bevan and I are going to drink a large number of alcolohic drinks in our room while having sex with young ladies.  If anyone wants to join us they are more than welcome.  Peace out.

Though often amusing, nevertheless this man does not speak for me ...

Trust me on this one Bev - I cannot see any reason why having unprotected sex with african prostitutes can lead to problems.
