I'll be there.  I hope they have trimmed down those trees on the far side they cut off half the viewing!  Either that or I'll bring a hacksaw down.

The ACFC game result shows the lack of a strong set of warm up games.

You can't call beating a poor Otago team on a crap pitch in your only warm up game a great way to start an ASB prem season.

How many junior club teams play only one pre season warm up game?

With the coaching staff having been involved with several clubs, it wouldn't have been hard to get a group of players down for a few workouts.

Squad games don't cut the mustard as pre season warm up games.

agree, look at youngheart's result today too, they had played several warm up games

team wellington, had just the one hitout and did as badly as canterbury against auckland opposition

we say the same things every year, that the teams out of auckland need to step up a couple of notches, not just in terms of playing standard, but also preparation. but nothing changes

Hardly trees.

Not sure how you'd describe them if they aren't trees, but after being there today, the foliage from stick-like life-forms on the front of the bank cuts off half the viewing area from the pitch.  Bad form.  Hacksaw it is.

4-0 I think.  Otago didn't look too good, especially in a horrible maroon and blue stripey shirt. We guessed it was a combo of Otago and Southland colours.

Could have and should have been more but with Capital and Central playing out a scoreless draw the Pride go to the top of the Southern Conference.

Looks like that the Canterbury United game against Team Wellington in the Cake Tin is going to be shown live on Sky TV before the 'Nixs' game, on Sky Sport 2 coverage starting at 1:45pm.

I was just coming here to say that. This is a great win for football and the NZFC. Is this the first game to be televised live and are Sky going to continue this? Hopefully it's not just because it's a curtain raiser for the Nix.

Auckland City v Canterbury in 06 before the NZ v Malaysia game.

Three for me, and two for them.

Pretty average display of football  from Canterbury with a less than average display from Wellington.  So in the football stakes the average football beats the less than average from Wellington.

Fair Result.

Will have to watch Fifi may become a liability with some of his options.

2-1 win over Otago today. I thought we could've scored a couple more in the first half as Otago were happy to let us pass it around and they weren't very good at defending either.

Clapham missed that penalty in the second half, he didn't hit it with much conviction. Still, a very solid save by the Otago keeper (he seemed very hot and cold). If Clapham converted, I think the game would've been sealed then and there. Otago did launch a comeback late in the game, their number 4 was running around like a wrecking ball up front.

We had so much space on the left, but we kept firing it at or past the left winger, he wasn't utilised well at all I thought.

Thought that Clapham started the game well, getting some early touches and providing a short option for passing. But he started making a few mistakes later in the game and became somewhat less effective.

I think Clapham suffered from the odd knock or three. Not a great 2nd half from the Dragons but three points and first home win in the bag. Need to get a result over Waikato - away,  now to consolidate our place in the top half of the table.

3 points in the bag sums it up really.  Canterbury certainly could have made more from their opportunities in the first half....

Otago coach concentrated on coaching instead of abusing spectators which was great to see.  Certainly seems to have produced a better Otago team than I have seen in the past decade.  Full credit to him with the limited resources he probably has.

If he starts presenting himself in a manner expected of his players it may fall in place ie take your hoody off......  Good stuff Richard Murray....

Yes if Canterbury pick up 3 points every time they play that poorly then should make the top top again.

So Canterbury played piss poor football last week vs Welly and looked average yesterday vs Otago.

OK, we picked up 4 points, but do we think we're on the right path to challenge the big 2?

6 points bro

for me the team doesn't quite look good enough (to challenge) and there doesn't seem to be too much depth

but i like how braithewaite tries to play a settled XI, allowing the team to become a lot more cohesive.  with that the attacking bayrev should improve a lot

how was he yesterday btw?

Average. Welbourn was better.
