The defence question is interesting as Eager is pretty key in midfield and for me Musa, Schaeffers and Branch all offer about the same at centre back so you could play any of them there.

Oly Under23`s   Eager Centre Back ??

This.

Talk about a players' centre back.  Eags is a ball player not a larry long ball man.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

No mention of the long ball. Advocating that he is a composed ball player and may well suit the defensive role at U23 level
I would suspect the Olies will play a totally different game to U20`s

That chance around the 38th minute.  I couldn't see how Fenton was offisde and that suggests I was right.  It never went in but he's always on.

Completely off ASB topic but related- Late in the saeson just gone , Jr had recovered from his health issues enough to play ( 10th grade , JPL promo grade).PLayed quite well in midfield (although he really wanted to play winger). We went to the Taupo tournament , slightly scratchy start. The coaches put him at sweeper after the second game  , much to my horror ( he's not defensively that good). But their view was that he's the best ball player in the team.End result-no more goals conceded day 1 , semi final finish which we were all thrilled with.
My point-players like Eager who are good ball players are  , IMO , well suited for a CB/sweeper role.Doesn't mean they should be there of course , just that's it's a viable option , depending on how the coach wants to build from the back.

AUCKLAND New Zealand Football advises that due to a breach of player eligibility regulations, the match between Team Wellington and Otago United on 23 October originally a 2-2 draw has been awarded as a 2-0 win to Team Wellington.

Following an investigation into the status of Otago United player Donnie McGregor, fielded as a substitute in that match, it was confirmed that McGregor was ineligible at the time to play in the ASB Premiership.

Subsequently, the league standings have been updated to reflect the changed result and the goals scored by Otago in the match have been expunged.

McGregor has since been cleared to play in the ASB Premiership.

[QUOTE=Hard News] Well last Sunday he played against Peverley and Clapham who are touted as being A-League quality by many and he was clearly better than both of them.

This reply comes a bit late but to add to your comments. I think from what I've seen this year of Clapham and Peverley that they are playing anyway near A-League level. AC was on his game before the WC and just after but has not hit that form since.
This pick shows Bill Robinson of H Bay scoring V Canterbury and not one of the four of Peverley, Highfield [gk] or Clapham and Smith [thought only juniors closed their eyes when going to head a ball.] on the line getting their feet off the ground, to be fare to AC the ball was not going his side. but All Whites in an ASB team should be capable of marking and winning headers at a corner.

2-0 to TW.
Goals to Cheriton ( awful keeping from Manawatu , Cheriton left with completely open goal , keeper nowhere) and Lucas. Both goals in first half.
Score could  really have been 5 or 6 to TW.Dreadful finishing in second half; Galbraith couldn't score in a knocking shop if it was happy hour and free.Lucas could have had a hattrick but second half  his scoring touch deserted him.
2 guys really impressed me today- I liked Fenton's energy and no little skill;Patrick Flemming looks like a very good little player as well.Eager played CB again , did OK; very calm distribution.
Manawatu were pretty ordinary really although they did force some good saves out of Imray in the second half.Too inconsistent , too often second to the ball.

Golden boot for QSL.. but QSL is a rubbish league. Sunshine coast would get eaten alive in Northern Prems, let alone NZFC

They might start calling for Fenton to get a trial at the nix yet after today. After all they did that with Lucas...

That is quite a shellacking.

Jan 29th with TW (Newtown park) at 1300 then Phoenix (RoF) at 1630

How many are going to watch both games?
Any chance of a bus or van from park back to stadium?

ACFC playing yet another curtain raiser for Phoenix :D

Jr and I defo going to Nix , almost certainly going to TW.If it helps , I'm happy to take people to ROF and back to Newtown after if needed.  Can squeeze 5 or 6 in my wagon depending on a) how fat you are and b) how amenable you are to transport cuddles
Dunno if it helps but the offer's there.
