During the WaiBop game last night they mentioned Ben Harris was on 4 yellow cards - does that mean he is stood down for the Team Wellington vs Dragons game?

Or has he already stood down in the past?

Will tee dubs beat Hawkes Bay?

What is the word on the street?

Harris too good at finishing possession?

Or will the new combo of Ifill and Blake make a difference?

Just got back from the game.

2-0 Hawkes Bay and a well deserved win. By far the better of the two teams and TW are lucky the scoreline wasn't more.

Too busy arguing with the ref and trying to kick the shark out of the HB team trying to play football. Peverleys second yellow card was probably one of the stupidest things I've seen in a long time and showed absolutely zero responsibility from a captain.

I couldn't understand TWs style of play - they were continually knocking the ball into their strikers feet, but had nobody running off either of their strikers to try and get in behind the defenders.

Thought Taye, Blake, Chettleburg and Martin were the outstanding players for HB.

Agreed.  Since Musa left they have been defensively frail and Bale isn't a Centre back... like Feneridis isn't an ASB Premiership footballer.  Villa and Barcia both a country mile ahead of him, no idea how he starts with them on the bench.  Likewise Halpin.

Hawkes Bay could/should have won by 5.

HB were whining at the ref much more than TeeDubs were.

Reports are that Matt Calcott has lost the dressing room in recent weeks.

Can only see one winner today - HBU by at least 2 goals.

Permalink Permalink

rumour also has it that Matt has lost his job no matter what the result of this season and o-league are, and team wellington are in a huge amount of financial trouble, far worse than anyone from the organisation is willing to admit

Well done Team Welly. Thought Hawkes Bay looked good. What does losing the dressing room mean? I'm sure people would never play half heartedly because they were angry at the coach

so they beat Auckland, any question marks about their finance and paying players?

Or is it all on the Wellington straight and narrow

With nothing dodgy going on?

WTF was with giving Auckland that penalty? was he from Mt Eden? other than the pens, the rest of the goals from both sides were quite good. DeVries, certainly looks the goods yet again and I think Ernie and the coaches really need to have a look at this guy.

Had one of his poorest games for ACFC I thought (headed goal attempt apart). Whole forward line lacked spark.

Haven't seen too many, Fijian teams aren't allowed overseas players because overseas players aren't allowed in their national league.

Samoa's Kiwi F.C haven't had some of their players who are at NZ winter clubs released.

Waiting on squad lists tbh, most had to file them last month.

some squad lists here

Also heard on Trackside radio this morning that Adam Dickinson is playing for Amicale

Pretty poor communications from Oceania - they could have made so much more of this competition

They looked like they were going to with original announcement of a group in Wellington, but then changed their mind and decided to play all the games at the Albanian Sandpit in Auckland. The obvious reason is money, but Oceania isn't that short of money is it? or did the bizarre President's Cup competition last year cost them a lot more than they expected?

Was it really that difficult to schedule this tournament with the Samoan team playing in Porirua or Lower Hutt, The Fijian teams in South Auckland, Solomon Warriors in Nelson?

We all know the crowds wouldn't have been massive, but with some decent marketing could have been between high hundreds to a few thousand, much more than the couple of hundred usual football fans, people like me, who will always turn up no matter who is playing.

Oceania Champions League - an opportunity missed!

I've seen adverts in the local paper about the tournament, but that's pretty much it.

Unless they're going to blitz schools next week - koha entry and a day out for the kids on weekends, yeah - this has been properly fumbled.

Are we really that surprised though? OFC do the tough job of making NZF look competent very well.
