It's not their choice I imagine. It'll be a tv thing. Game has to be televised and Davey F isn't up to snuff for that

They're both televised games?

Apparently due to the camera not being able to fully see the near side corner flag at the school end renders DFP as not a good venue.

Plenty of parking on the side of the road, just gotta make sure they turn up with the OBS truck early enough before the parks fill up.

Don't get me started. Could have had televised Tee dubs games all season. Just need some vision. Even fever Zone. (Sorry forgot they use THE TRACY HODGE STAND)

That sucks was keen to watch a game at Davey, much closer to the action than  Westpac. I'll still go and watch the game, I find Team Wellington a joy to watch rather than the other over paid Wellington team. Its like the value of going to watch football is lost as soon as you see how far away the field is at Westpac especially for a Ssprem team.

Team Wellington has drawn AS Magenta in the OCL semi-finals.

The first leg will be played in Noumea on Saturday April 8, with kick-off at 8pm (9pm NZ), and the second at David Farrington Park on Sunday April 16 at 2pm.

Personally think it's a little petty & DFP would be a great venue for a semi-final under cameras.

Didn't seem to be a problem when Saturn used to broadcast games from there

On the SSP semi, as far as I'm aware we're still talking to the relevant people about where it will be played. Westpac isn't a 100% certainty yet.

Logistically for NZF, it makes sense to have it at Westpac as they piggyback the expense on top of the FFA paying ticket.

Longer term games at smaller venues with better atmosphere are the future for the league.  I was a bit dubious about whether getting the game son TV was the be all and end all, but in fact it's been a really positive development I think

If there are logistical complications/stresses for the skeleton crew that does these games, a one off is different to 2 or 3 during the season.

That's only an extra game or two...I'm sure they could have coped, TW paid them good money after all.

I can vouch from my personal experience that the TV / YouTube coverage has massively improved my interest in the SSP prem.

This year they've been light years ahead of where they were last year - first in terms of where matches have been played - no schlepping up to the QBE until the final (and the final isn't on a Thursday night, but a Sunday afternoon).

Smaller grounds are better, it's simple ain't it?

I wonder whether it has helped to attract players as well - TV coverage = potential youtube compilations to show scouts?

The amount of work that will go into getting Davey F 'compliant' with what Sky, the council & NZF want is phenomenal. I can tell you for certain that TW officials have & are working around the clock to have got the game on TV & to execute it smoothly. A team of three or four volunteers can only do so much. Either way, it will be great to be down there to watch & Inhope Wellington backs them in both comps!
