Bloody Fox Sports, must have had the first 55mins as part of a 'viewer's choice' thingy, which stuffed up my recording

I wasn't impressed with Bily  up until he Scored that scorcher. thought we were in for a long day the first 20mins but after that well the game was ours by half time.

Gutted for Ryan Nelsen but kinda stoked he isn't playing this weekend.

Another good win. I think our great form has partly been down to Osman stepping up in the absence of Cahill and Arteta etc. He has been playing very well

Should be an easy game against Wigan tomorrow.

Baines should have taken that penalty, not Arteta

A point is a point but we should have beaten Wigan comfortably. Baines is our number 1 pen man so not sure what Arteta was doing taking it. Top save though. Howard awesome as always. At least one player is consistent.Toffeeman2011-05-01 10:07:40

I thought Arteta was banned from taking penalties and free kicks.it was always going to be a hard game with Wigan trying to stay up but we never looked like winning that game

Hopefully we keep on with the good form and beat Man City tonight

Top result overnight:have to say though, that Anichebe is a total donkey...

Anichebe is very frustrating. It highlights the fact of the lack of quality of striking options we have when we only really have him and Beckford + Vellios (and Saha who is always injured)

But it was a good result against City, who we have an excellent record against. Lescott got a friendly reception!

I don't understand why David Moyes choose him over Beckford, should of been beckford as striker and Osman, Arteta as attacking midfielders. It still was a great result though.

I agree:Beckford is "green" in a premiership sense, but has still scored 9 times. He makes good runs off the ball and is willing to have a pop:Anichebe is a lumbering oaf who offers little except physical strength;a poor man's Heskey(take that any way you want...)

All I can say is "Please buy a genuine, proven striker in the summer". We haven't had one for about 8 years (since Rooney left and Big Dunc retired). I genuinely thing that that is the missing link in the squad. Saha is good when fit, Beckford will be good in a few seasons time but the rest are average and not top Premier League level. I'd happily take Crouch, Arshavin, Pavlyachenko etc but they'd have to fit the squad mentality which I think is part of the problem. Most strikers have HUGE egos and that just doesn't work at Everton.

What did we do with the money from Pienaar?
Permalink Permalink
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Probably paid off some debt
Permalink Permalink
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
We're skint the club used the 2.5 mil to cover debt and this summer aint looking to flash neither
So it'll be sell to buy and that means Jack Rodwell and more than likely John Heitinga  go to allow us to get someone in, actually selling Bily would work to send him off out the door
Two new strikers and  creative midfielder would be nice but we'll end up getting a couple of 16-18 year olds in for the academy instead

TV money should help a bit. 40 mill quid approx but every team gets a decent payout. Higher you are the more you get. We are in a better position financially than most clubs. Some will clear debt with that but I think we're close to even so maybe a decent chunk will buy a few players without the need to sell too many.
We can but hope.

Who do think guys, is leaving at the end of the season?

For me definity

Vaughan
Yobo
Yakubu

High Probability

Heitinga
Bily
Mucha

Off Chance

Jags
Fellaini
Baines
Rodwell

We should get roughly 20 million quid however I doubt moyes will see any of it

For me i reckon All Your definitely and high probability.Plus if we believe the trash rumours, two of the off chance.Maybe  Jags and Rodwell to the Arse and Scum for 20 mil each

To be honest, I wouldn't mind if Billy or Rodwell to left, I know Rodwell is young and has a lot of potential but I really haven't seen anything amazing from himin the last 3 or so years.

Any of those Off Chance players would be worth 20mil by themselves. The High Probability would be 5-10 mill each. Sell the lot and theres 100 mill.
I'd like to keep Baines, Jag and Rodwell. The rest can go.

Its no longer a problem.

Yeah, but we have too replace them. what worries me is we wont. well not all of them anyway.

I'm sure lots of clubs will be looking at Baines in this off season
Permalink Permalink

Baines is pretty loyal to Everton and is very grounded. He rejected the idea of moving to Bayern so he would have to get a pretty good offer to leave

Really sh*t result. What you guys think of Billy's red card?
Permalink Permalink
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Was a definite red card, thought some of the West Brom Tackles were pretty full on at times as well
Permalink Permalink
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
I thought the red card was harsh TBH. Deserved a yellow.
Didn't see all the first half but from what I've read it proves we need a decent striker. Still, finish the season on a high with a win over Chelsea, recruit well, don't loose decent players and start next season well.
Oh, and our new away kit is horrid! Hopefully the new home and 3rd kits are as nice as this season. I've got them both and they're all class.

Beckford finally comes good. Just a week too late to get goal of the season. Hopefully we can get off to a decent start next season and look towards Europe. Moyes comment about 7th being good was a shock but I think he's just playing his cards close to his chest and not raising expectation (assuming he's there next season).

so in ancelotti's 2 seasons at chelsea he never managed to beat your lot
Permalink Permalink

I've got time for Beckford as a player:he's got good pace and movement, and will always have a pop.He may miss a few,but he never hides and seems to have the belief that he belongs in the premiership:also,he cost us 1 million and scored 10 goals;a reasonable debut season I'd say.Having said that,we do need to invest in some forwards, and in doing so,I'd sell the Yak,Anichebe and maybe Vaughan.
