I think it's the white kit I posted a page back.

One of the reasons, I began to support Liverpool is on the verge of joining the Manc scum , but he's a shell of the player he was. Desperation from both parties.

I really hope he doesn't, but then again he's off contract, a free agent and will probably take anything he can get. Would be a sad, sad day for sure to see Owen kitted up in Scum gears.

Rumours are also circling about the Toffs being interested as well, so if he signs for either, some stick will definately be coming his way...

Always felt a bit sorry for the guy though, after the debacles he had at Real and Newcastle...

True, thanks Linds! Minor mind blank there...

Owen would be daft to go to United, he'll be there to warm the bench if he does. I thought both Hull and Everton would be the ticket for him. If he stays healthy at least he's a good chance of playing each week. That's should be his priority at the moment if he's serious about playing for England again. Given Everton are playing in Europe he should seriously consider the blue. It'll be weird though if he puts that hideous blue shirt on...

He always scores goals wherever he goes if he is fit. But to go to one of our enemies either Everton or Man U..dangerous.

Kenny's back

Kenny Dalglish has returned to Liverpool to take up a senior role at the club's academy.
The Anfield legend, who won eight League titles in 14 years with the Reds as a player and manager, will also act as a club ambassador.
"We are delighted he has agreed to join us," recently appointed Liverpool managing director Christian Purslow told the club's website.
"I am sure he will be very successful in his new role back at the club."
Dalglish's arrival back at Anfield has been mooted for some time and comes during a summer in which manager Rafael Benitez has conducted sweeping changes behind the scenes.

I wonder how much United fans will be fleeced to watch him make his ten appearances this season. I wonder what his pay if you play wages are??
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

What about this to end the doom and gloom?

Not for the first time this summer, Real Madrid look set to give up in their chase for a player, namely Xabi Alonso.

According to Sport, Los Merengues are unwilling to pay the 50 million that Liverpool are demanding for the midfielder. Though money is seemingly in plentiful supply at the Bernabeu, Florentino Perez refuses to pay over the odds for any player.

You will be feeling even worse when he sticks a couple past your lot.
I wonder if you felt the same when Kenny left you?
Grow up.

It actually sounds like Masch could be the one to go now. I'd like to think that Xabi really wants to stay but entertained the thought of offers to Real etc. With the Masch talks increasing it wouldn't surprise me if LFC upped Alonso's price in order to protect losing both.

Liverpool youngsters Jay Spearing and Stephen Darby are set to sign new contracts with the club, according to Sky Sports.

It is understood that both Merseyside born players are part of Rafa Benitezs future plans and the Spanish manager is offering them both new three year contracts, with one year remaining on the current deals.

Good news for a couple of the youngsters coming through.

-----------
Back on the Owen debate (just briefly):

I just read that he was trying to come back to Anfield when he got the call from Fergie. Straight after that he was back on the phone to LFC offering his 'cut-price' services. With this in mind, I think we've missed out... Understandably from Rafa's point of view he stood firm and said no after their previous encounters but if we take a step back for a second and consider our current situation; We don't have a lot of cash to spend, we need a backup striker and someone who's prepared to take a bit of bench time. Doesn't Owen fit that bill? Besides, he was cheaper than a scoop of chips...

{Apologies for the early morning, pre-coffee bitter rant - I guess I never really got over him leaving for Madrid}

It said on BBC that Masch had a bust up with Rafa last year? I didn't know that or is that just tabloid crap.Who would you prefer to go? I think I would prefer Masch to leave as we have failry solid defence and it would be harder to replace Alonso. Hopefully if masch leaves we will get a  decent amount of cash.

Yeah that was news to me too. I'd say that was tabloid gossip. If I had to pick one it would be Masch. Xabi just has too much quality to lose in what will be a pretty important season for the team.

Michael Owen is a slimey little Twit. I can't stand him. EvenTevez had the respect for United to turn down us- Owen grew up in Liverpool! What a horrible little sh*t. Still, it could be a sign. Remember Real Madrid and "European glory"...

Doesn't sound too great on either of our midfielders to be honest. Real are talking so much, and they change their mind every day, so I'm thinking Xabi isn't safe until the window ends. And Masch, well, who knows? He seemed to me to be one of the few who would leave us, behind the usual Gerrard, Carra, Torres, Reina etc. He always talks about how Rafa "is the most important man" in his life and that.

Great about Kenny though. Welcome home!

Until the next window. Latest replacement links Gokhan Inler, Gaetano D'Agostino, Esteban Cambiasso.

I would have thought we could have just about offered Owen anything in terms of a pay as you play contract and it would have been of benefit to Liverpool and (if what the kop says) he would have jumped at the chance. Surely that is a better option than risking $ on an unproven or second rate striker....If we lose Xabi or Masch it feels like we will be rebuilding again! Are you Tottenham is disguise?

Not only are you a low life with your comment about Michael Owen, you come up with Tevez had respect to United turning down Liverpool. Are you brain dead? Liverpool did not offer enough MONEY.

Just to get your facts right, Michael Owen was born in Chester. Look it up on the map.

Not.

Yes, Owen was born in Chester but he moved to Liverpool at age 16 after signing a youth contract. So he did technically do a lot of growing up in Liverpool.

So that means that he has spent half his life in Chester.
He is as much as Scouse as I am.

Right, back to some better news:

Yossi's just signed a 2 year contract extension with LFC. Well deserved.

Check this out:

LFC Team List

Glen Johnson's taken Dossena's #2. Dossena is listed way down the list un-numbered. So does that mean Dossena is gone??

And Voronin has been given number 10!!!

I'm pretty sure he already had that number before his loan. But your right, it probably means he's back... Second striker, bench man, orange boy - suits me at the mo.

Dossena hasn't even been given a number! Voronin will come back for 6 months and then get loaned in January then we will lose him on a free next summer! We still need that second striker huh? Also I'm glad that Yossi signed a new deal.

Good news!

REAL MADRID admitted last night there are limits to their spending spree, saying they are very far away from meeting Liverpools 35million asking price for Xabi Alonso.

General director Jorge Valdano said Real were also asked to pay 69m by Bayern Munich for Franck Ribery before July 16 or withdraw their interest in the winger.

Xabi Alonso is a priority if he fits into our budget, but that does not seem to be the case, said Valdano. We are very far away from the figures that Liverpool have presented. Liverpool have taken up a difficult stance.

Surprised to hear Real have a budget... I'd say they might go for Ribery first.

Nice one! Even though they may still nab Arbeloa it will be great to keep Alonso. I wa sthinjking before (in a boring work meeting!) Do you think that Perez wants the marquee signings because of shirt sales etc? I had heard that Real made more money out of the Beckham move than it cost them to bring him there and pay him etc. If this is the case then is Alonso the type of superstar player that fits this type of purchase?  He is not really the pretty boy Cristiano type even though he is class. Just a thought to get me through the day......although in saying that Ribery has gotta be one of the ugliest players going around.

To some extent I'd say they factor in shirt and merchandise finances particularly with marquee signings. Given they had 80,000 people through the gates just to say hi to Ronny I'd imagine there's no problems getting money through ticket sales either. Shouldn't take them long to pay it all back...
