So what happens here? Rumours that Sakho has already started legal action against UEFA - Nike dropped him immediately so guessing he's losing a few $$$s.

I was reading Liverpool also have a case for claiming for compensation against UEFA for missing out on the Champions League, not sure how true that is though

It's a weird one. I know that if Liverpool take legal action we'll get non-stop harassment from fans from other teams insiting we're blaming UEFA for our poor showing in the final.

My take on it though is that while you cannot prove Sakho would have made a different (especially as his replacement Toure was immense that night) you can also argue that you cannot prove he wouldn't have. As a Liverpool fan, of course I'd like compo at the very least (and I'm sure LFC would swap any financial compensation for a CL or even a Europa place) but more than anything, Sakho deserves an apology.

He's likely to miss out on the France squad due to lack of game time AND he got dropped by Nike.

On the plus side, we probably don't need to buy another CB as we'll have Lovren, Sakho and Matip as the main guys, Toure may still stay and there are others who can do a job there as well.

Ridiculous if true.

If I was Sakho I'd be chucking the book at anyone who's hands are on this. Really screwed him over in what should be the peak of his career.

And we'll never know what would have happened had he played, although I don't think it's a coincidence that they went 12 games unbeaten with him, then lost 2 out of 3 without.

Macca has a decent strike rate. Along with the usual rumor of the UAE President, the two new ones seem to be Qatari (is it Qatari?) or Chinese money. The amount the spend on Chinese teams at the moment I can only imagine what they would spend in Prem and imagine the revenue generated by extending the LFC fanbase into China!!!

re: Sakho (just going back a bit) he was suspended correctly given the product was on the banned list. Appears his defence have proven it shouldn't have been. That's why the ban hasn't been handed down. Supposedly that leaves him with no grounds for suing, becomes they followed process.

Who knows....that has been pretty steadfast interest from the Middle East huh....I guess that's a pretty general region tho! Must be a great time to sell with new stadium, new manager and new tv rights just about to kick in. Just pray it's no Hicks and Gillet.....what a nightmare that was.

2 months left and a few players to come back from loan Klopp will take a look at. Ings is back which is almost a new signing, new keeper in and Matip already with us - I'd say we've done ok and may want to shift some deadwood first.

Club being sold has popped up again - this rumour has been around for quite a while but seems to be very frequent - the latest is that there are offers on the table from two groups (1 Chinese, 1 Middle East).

The initial premier league draw comes out overnight. I'll be in the UK over Christmas and new year and was hoping to get to Anfield for a game as I've never been there before. Was just wondering if you lot could help with tips for getting tickets. I've signed up for a membership to get tickets, is that all I need to do or is there more I could do to ensure I get some? Need two. Any advice would be gratefully received!

Other have said that they e-mail the club and tell them where they  are from etc, etc and have always been able to get tickets.

The sooner you do it the better. Good luck.

Yeah certainly don't rely on trying to get them through the official sales or members sales. I never came close and never miss tickets for events in NZ. Was just lucky in the end through a mate of a mate type situation. Talk to the LFC Wellington or NZ guys if you can.

Also, regarding selling the club, this time would be an ideal one for FSG to get a great price so wouldn't surprise to see a few years of rumours come to fruition...

As at end of March 2016...

  • Total revenue up 16.5%
  • 21.5% up in media sales (whatever that is)
  • Commercial revenue up 12%
  • Matchday sales up 15.9%
  • 69m in debt converted to equity
  • 49m pumped into the expansion
  • Value of the club has jumped almost 58% in the last year according to Forbes, now worth 1.04B pounds.

Football Team Valuations according to Forbes (in US dollars) and in brackets is the 12 monthly value change

1.Real - $3.645B (12%)

2.Barca - $3.549B (12%)

3.Man Yoo - $3.317B (7%)

4.Bayern - $2.678B (14%)

5.Arsenal - $2.017B (54%)

6.Citeh – $1.921B (40%)

7.Chelski - $1.661B (21%)

8.Liverpool - $1.548B (58%)

9.Juve – $1.299B (55%)

10.Spurs - $1.017B (69%)

Next 10 in order…

11.Dortmund

12.AC Milan

13.PSG

14.Schalke

15.Atletico

16.Inter

17.West Ham

18.AS Roma

19. Napoli

20. Toon

From the Independent (yup, I know)...

An investment group supported by the Chinese state government is attempting to purchase Liverpool for £700million, The Independent can reveal.

It has emerged that Liverpool’s owners Fenway Sports Group have been aware of the proposal from SinoFortone since March.

SinoFortone, who are fronted by managing director Peter Zhang, has committed £5.2billion towards new projects in the UK over the last 12 months.

They have already explored the potential of building a new stadium in the dockland area of Liverpool, appreciating that Anfield’s new main stand will be completed in September.

Their plans also involve the redevelopment of the club’s training ground at Melwood and the installation of a series of football academies across China.

It is believed that Fenway, who are led by John W. Henry, are reluctant to sell Liverpool at this moment and have been unreceptive to the approach.

While the Premier League’s new television rights deal potentially increases the value of all English top flight clubs to unprecedented levels, there is a confidence within FSG that Jürgen Klopp will lead Liverpool into a new era of sporting prosperity, an era, indeed, the current owners would like to be around for.

SinoFortone are also thought to be open to the idea of part-investment in Liverpool, offering FSG a medium to long-term exit strategy. This might appeal more to key yet ageing figureheads like Henry and chairman Tom Werner, who will both turn 67 at their next birthdays.

The bidder specialises in large-scale infrastructure projects, building roads, railways, airports, seaports and power stations across China and the Middle East.

In March SinoFortone agreed a green energy and affordable housing scheme investment with the Scottish government. SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon signed off the contract, which might eventually be worth £10bn. She was later accused by opposition parties of misleading Scots over the secrecy around the agreement, which also involved the China Railway Group.

Last year, during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Britain, SinoFortone committed £2bn towards two eco-parks in north and south west Wales, which will see two biomass power stations built in Anglesey and Port Talbot.

SinoFortone has earmarked a substantial sum towards the London Paramount Entertainment Resort, which is due to open in Dartford, Kent, in 2021. It is also involved in the proposed Crossrail 2 rail line running through London into Hertfordshire as well as the building of new metro systems in Abu Dhabi and Kuwait.

Liverpool is thought to be an attractive proposition to SinoFortone, not least because of the club’s history and reasonable current standing, but also because the city is home to Europe’s oldest Chinese community.

In April, work on the £200m New Chinatown project began less than a mile away from Liverpool’s city centre. The development will include 850 new houses, 150,000 square feet of commercial and retail space, and a new hotel.

Though SinoFortone are not behind this project, its plans were presented to President Xi’s delegation during his visit to Manchester last October.

I think yellow is keepers, yes.

I've been trying to trawl through all of the transfer rumors and it's a nightmare, so many links, so many denials and then nothing. I trust in Klopp, especially given he have no Europe which while having it's challenges, also is of some benefit to us for his first full pre-season and season in the hot seat.

Holy shark, you have 9 players whom would not get work permits as it currently stand and push comes to shove. Still that's 9 more chances for local lads to step up like so many from the 70's - Phil Thompson etc.
