Absolutely agree with this. Watched the game with two mates and we all thought it was much better with two up front. I did hear that Sturridge is very close to returning and actually had a fitness test before the game. Anyone heard anything?

The issue is that we need to lose a striker and probably one or two others in January to meet FFP.

Rumours are that they want Sakho out of the door along with Johnson and either Balo or Borini.

Those latter two seem tricky. I'd be surprised if Rodgers gives up on Balo that quickly, while Borini has already shown that he wants to stay once, and I don't see why he wouldn't do so again.

The details of Ballo moving to Liverpool were never fully revealed and he may actually only be on loan (at least, those are some circling rumours). Borini has stayed, fought and he still can't get a start, even over a massively misfiring Ballo so when Studge is back maybe the writing will be on the wall for him. I can see rodgers moving back to the SAS formation when Studge is back and they rarely got subbed and if they did it was for a midfielder.

Possibly a regression to the mean, Liverpool did have the highest conversion rate (goals/shots) for any team of the past 5 years.

The without Sanchez stat is a bit of a pointless one because he has actually scored those goals and assists and it presumably doesnt take into account that without him, someone else probably would have been signed and playing in his place etc. It also presumably doesn't take out every other team's leading goal/assist player for comparison. But yes, no Arsenal fan needs any convincing that he is completely carrying us and it's effectively season over the day he breaks down.

True, these stats are always produced with the purpose of a paticular conclusion. It's also relevant that Sturridge has been injured for the most of the season so far. Was just an interesting graphic I saw that's all, mostly funny that noone has outscored Mr Own Goal yet.

Didn't he score 4 vs Norwich?

Whats the news on Winston?  Does he like Brendan's style and can he have a sustainable future at Liverpool? We'd love to keep him of course but I fear his head's already been turned by his agent.....and its clearly not about the money now.

Liverpool is the best move for him IMO of the options available (if it's true we're talking LFC, MUFC, AFC). The reason for this is not as a one eyed Liverpool fan, but that Winston will thrive with the opportunity there.

  • He will be the leader that we need at the back and that he wants to be, he is a future captain of a major club, anyone can see that.
  • He will have little competition for a long time and he would surely replace Skrtel.
  • He is a similar player to Agger when Agger was at his peak and suits the Liverpool style with confidence on the ball (soemthign they lack at the moment but are trying to do).

Personally feel that the best place for him is West Ham but I must say, I'd be pretty excited if he moved to Anfield.

Bought yet another Gerrard shirt this season but it would pretty fudgeing awesome to have Reid printed on a Liverpool shirt.

Keen for no more centre backs! hang in there with Lovren and Skrtel who actually looked a bit better vs Chelsea....Sakho in support.

I guess all will be revealed soonish. We're keen on getting something back but realistically he can go on a free at the season. He's served us well and seen out his contract unlike some others. The irony is he's just as likely to get Champions League with us as with Liverpool although your set up is made for sustained campaigns.

So if money-ball experiment #1 from FSG doesn't work, what's next?

Complete change of direction? Established high end manager and throw cash at players?

Na, it's not going to happen huh. Think the owners are pretty keen to have him around for a while.

In other news...Balotelli injured on international duty........blessing in disguise?

I wonder if, due to the large competitive international transfer market in football, it has mostly been a more efficient/accurate way of perceiving value of players than is the case in baseball/other sports?

I think in football you have less wiggle room with signings if they don't pan out. american sports play so many games then their rosters are huge and players can be carried/hidden.

In other rumours.......

Glen Johnson on a free transfer to Roma and to be replaced by Maxi Pereira from Benfica. Meh.

I doubt they will replace him. Plenty of replacements in the squad and on loan. Part of the reason for getting rid is the wages to make sure we get back under FFP

Plenty is probably a but of stretch but yeah, GJ is on good money.

Who are the defenders we have floating around in the squad and on loan?

Enrique, Kolo, Lovren, Moreno, Manquillo (2 year loan), Skrtel, Flanno (not sure when he is due back), Coates, Ilori, Wisdom

If we had Flanno and Wisdom back that would give us plenty of cover at RB with Manquillo playing there as well.

To play RB for us, I would take Flanno out of that lot and that's about it. I worry about a player that young having so many injury problems. Hope he makes a return soon but haven't heard much other than continued postponements.

Wellington Reds -

OLSC Update:

So this came through over email...final confirmation that we are all go.

The next requirement now is for us to form a committee that will collectively make decisions on how we want to move forward (taking pressure off me to do it all myself).
According to OLSC rules, to be part of the committee you must have a LFC membership number (international membership). Those that have submitted theirs to me will receive an email early next week with more information. It's not too late to get yours if you'd like to be involved, just follow this link https://www.liverpoolfc.com/membership/membership-home/international

PLEASE NOTE: as I've said all along LFC Wellington is NOT exclusive. The number 1 priority is bringing Wellington Reds together to watch our beloved Liverpool play. There's no obligation to buy a loyalty card, turn up to games, or come to events.

Any questions please feel free to ask below or email me: LFCWellington@hotmail.com

Thanks again for helping to make all this happen, your continued support is hugely appreciated!

Is it this coming transfer window or the next one you guys will be in charge of transfers for Liverpool Football Club? (Looking at the success of the last transfer window I assumed that all transfers for the club were managed by overseas supporters groups)

We'll be lobbying to get Ngog and Voronin back to help Mario score no goals. Ricky and Borini may help too.

Haha. Yup, we're in charge but Kopgoff has power of veto.

I've created my transfer wish list:

GK: Brad Thorne

CD: Rahul Dravid

RB: an inanimate carbon rod (replaces Glen Johnson, i challenge you to see the difference)

ST: Oscar Pistorius (every shot on target)

I'm considering printing this out and framing it on my wall. 21st November 2014: Leighbo criticises a Liverpool player.

Three for me, and two for them.
