Just what I was thinking, in the last half of the league he's not really stood out for blackpool. I'm kinda glad we didn't sign him for a overpriced fee!

I wonder if they told Pepe we were signing Charlie Adam......I wouldnt have thought that was the best new he had ever received! On another note, our rivals northampton are close to being relegated from Div 2!! Ahh the Roy memories

The Reds team is: Reina, Johnson, Flanagan, Carragher, Skrtel, Lucas, Spearing, Maxi, Meireles, Kuyt, Suarez. Subs: Gulacsi, Kyrgiakos, Robinson, Shelvey, Cole, Ngog, Carroll.

Brilliant start... Maxi has had some unreal luck in the past week or so.

I think Spearing's delivery has been quality, along with that shot he took earlier (not to mention the shot/assist against brum), he's shaping up to be a handy player.

Can't say I have the same confidence about this 1-0 lead though, Newcastle are edging possession

Easy when you have twelve men on the pitch, isn't it?
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Good result that, the game went off the boil somewhat once we got the third, but we looked comfortable throughout.

vs. Spurs on the final day is shaping up to be a cracker!

You talking about Barton sabotaging your numerous set piece chances?

That's very harsh on Walton.  He held your defence together - you should be more grateful!

Not really sure that the ref helped that much, the Newcastle players didn't look that up for it.

If you're saying that it should have been 3-1, then we were watching the same game (though with different biases) and I will go scowling off into the night.

you would have a point if Newcastle could muster up any decent chances on goal throughout the match, but you lot were woeful, and trying to blame it on a missed penalty call when you were 3-nil down late in the match is just embarrassing.

You've spent too long in flame-wars with idiot 'big four' fans.   It's not embarrassing to blame the ref for the result being 3-0, rather than 3-1, because he missed a penalty.  It's what we might call logical.

I also feel that Walton favoured Liverpool in terms of some sundry decisions, but that's normal for a fan.  (The times when the ref calls it for your own team are correct and not worth remembering, the times when he goes the other way are a crying injustice that is seared into the grey matter.)

Carroll looks like a freakin beast huh? Looks like he should play rugby. Hopefully a good pre-season will help a  bit

Tbf, Jonas was getting a few calls which were a bit  eg Flanno's booking. But thought your lads did well, especially in the first half, with your build-up play and we struggled to get the ball. But come on, be fair, you hardly tested Reina at all and that was more due to the lack of quality in the final third rather than the referee.

Happy with that result.  at Barton vs Meireles. Suarez is ACE and I love him. Spearing man of the match. Roll on Fulham. Ahh, to genuinely look forward to our games- what a feeling!

Becoming a regular and welcomed quote nearly every game he plays at the moment. The Kids really stepping up, I hope he stays as he's proving to be the ideal squad man.

Sami Hyypia retiring. Top man. Too bad he's doing his coaching in Germany though, would've loved for him to come back!
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Salute to Hyypia on a fabulous playing career.   (If his '95 trial had gone a little better, he could have ended up as a Newcastle legend instead!)  I'm sure he'll be a top coach, and a player with his character certainly has the potential to be a top-flight manager.

I've nailed my colours to the mast of the good ship "We deserved that penalty".   Didn't expect to get any points out of the match, but I don't think that the 3 goal margin is a fair representation of the game.

Sami Hyypia retires from Football, he intends to get his coaching badges, take up a position at Leverkussen and coach the Finnish National team. A 'Pool legend, would love to see him back at Melwood. Sami was one of the underrated defenders of his generation.

Yay! Don't start uni until 12 on Tuesday, great news! Man, its gonna be so sad no Liverpool for the next few months, under Kenny have just been getting that feeling back of actually enjoying watching us play...

Any of you RAWK lurkers see what happened to Sir Harvest Fields? :/
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
^Same feeling here! I just realised last night my thinking has changed over the last couple of months. I wasn't looking forward to the run home in the league but I now have the 'we're gonna beat you no matter who you are or where we play' feeling back. A bit of Mana is slowly returning to the club.

Good interview with Ayre here, shows he's the right Captain to sale the ship right now.

Yeah, rough for Sir Harvest, defo hope he comes through it okay, as he's one of the better posters on RAWK.
