Yeah the money floating around brit players at the moment is pretty staggerring and it looks like the Henderson deal almost done for $20m

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jun/06/jordan-henderson-liverpool-sunderland?

I guess that he's only 20yrs old, if Kenny and Clarke can get his full potential and he sticks around for 5yrs then it's worth it. Same with the likes of Phil Jones (apparently at Melwood last night) and also Wickham who looks a prospect.

I don't think we'll see the foreign players targeted for a few more weeks yet. Don't their transfer windows open in July?

Ah well, bolster the sqaud a bit, hopefully bring in one proper top class signing, and we'll be doing alright. Have a real go at that top four, which has to be the target next season. Henderson/ Downing aren't gonna set the world alight, but defo add something different to the sqaud. Same with Jones. Possibilities, no?

May not set the world on fire but statistically speaking they're not half bad. They certainly stack up (if not outshine) the elite. Check out the PFA player of the year - valued at $40squintillion pounds...

I can't wait for the Copa America on sky but it sucks that our South American lads won't get a good pre-season in.
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Wow we have a LOT of centre midfielders huh? Hoping on Mata
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Talk of wilson going back to Rangers too?
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Jeffren? Someone wants a better Barca contract by the sounds. Don't think i'd say no to him though...
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Yeah, I don't think he will come.. Wickham, Henderson, Jones? And Doni as back up keeper? Back in for Adam?

Apparently Henderson deal is agreed... Yes, I should be studying, but RAWK transfer forum is addicting!

Twitter meltdown!

Good on Ngog if he goes to Sunderland. he should do well there. Nice one Comolli too for keeping the price down and making Ngog worth around $7m! $6.5 profit. Never doubted Comolli for a second...
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Yeah, next up Wickham to replace Ngog! Excite! Doing our business so early..

Yup, hopefully, always liked Ngog. Hopefully he does do well there. Ahhh, loved that goal he scored against the mancs right at the death to seal the game... Good luck, la!

Great profit for him, not that Rafa will get much credit for that. Defo, Comolli done well.

Bring Jones in too!

Seems like a lot of money for Henderson? Oh well I trust Kenny

almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
^I thought so to at first but to be fair - $13m for a homegrown, Eng u21 player, big potential and also selling Ngog as part of a deal worth $20m is pretty good business.

It's probably how a few of the deals will be done, offering players to clubs to bring the cash aspect down. Get the fringe players out and off the wage books.

Jones, Downing, Enrique, Adam, Wickham and hopefully Mata and we've got some good foundations for the future.

Hopefully next! Snap him up before he heads away with the u21's too?

I can't believe how positive we're sounding at the moment. What's changed at 'Pool?!

Official now, fee agreed for Henderson. Medical tonight.

That means he's worth 20m, not 13m.

I'd hate to think how much you would have paid if you didn't have Comolli there picking up the bargains.

Orrrr, imagine if he had loaned out a promising young left back who has played for Argentina (admittedly not a lot) and sold one exciting youngster, to replace him with Paul fking Konchesky for 5 mil! Or he had signed Poulsen! Or, heaven forbid, he froze out many of the younger players, even blaming them for a defeat, tried to prevent the protests against Hicks and Gillett, even blaming the fans for 'distracting the team'. Oh wait, that's reality...

In all seriousness though, we actually trust the King to get the best out of these players, whereas nobody trusted or respected Hodgson or his tactics, so thats a ridiculous thing to say.  Plus, we're realistic, we aren't gonna be signing Hummels, Aguero Coentrao etc etc because, at the very least, we don't have European football.

missed out on jones......rated him as a good prospect
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Jones came down to the wire! Damn Manc's upped the deal.

Ah well, plenty more targets to snare. Who's the next choice CB? Dann or a continental?TheKop2011-06-09 08:37:16
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Yeah, fking Mancs! They are defo getting a good player there, and he's not even 20. Gah... Yip, think its Dann or maybe Cahill? Fk it, may as well go all out and go for Hummels or Subotic?

Reports out today suggested we actually had Jones signed yesterday but then he changed his mind as he wanted to stay up in the depressed north.

almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Not too fussed about Jones. We have Kelly and Wilson for the future. Rumours have it that we will sell Agger! I was a bit surprised when I heard. Any thoughts?

Gutted, he'd have been be perfect for you. Too bad he chose the wrong part of the north!

I hope we don't sell Agger. Absolutely boss defender and his loyalty alone would be worth giving him another season.
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
If the right price came along for Agger then take it. Injuries are big issue but no problems if he stays as long as we have backup or better starter.

Any know much about Sakho?
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Nope, not much tbh. We in for him?

Such a shame with Agger's injuries. I truly believe he would be one of the best centrebacks in the world if it wasn't for them.
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Agger is our best defender when fit, constant injuries make him disruptive to our defense though, so im in that camp that think he should be sold.

I rekon we should go for that young Greek center back,Papadopoulos, beast of a defender.

Happy with Henderson aswell. Sucks losing out on Jones, United probably gona CB covered for the next 12 or 13 years with him and smalling.

you gotta have more than two of em though jazcobar, and rio/vidic aint got much time left

if evans is one of their best 3 within a cupla seasons then awesome lol

Defensive midfield yes? How many more central midfielders do we need? Especially if we are still in for Adam. I'm still hoping for a winger, seems like we have missed out on Young so who next? Mata? Downing?

Center-back, also can play left-back too. Another one who has been touted as a new Lilian Thuram. Big rave reviews about him, last French defender with this much hype was probably Phillipe Mexes.

This the Sakho you're talking about?

mahmadou? Arse been chasing him for a cupla seasons too apparently... big beast of a defender, saw him turn out for france the other day he looked the goods

lookin like henderson will play wide right no? Kuyt to join suarez/carroll as your 3 main squad strikers?
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Yep, that would be him. Seen his name pop up a few times, possibly due to the french connection with Comolli.

I think Adam and Downing will be next (in quick consession) with a bit more emphasis put on the likes of Dann for our defensive option? Can't see us chasing Mata until near the end of month when the european window opens and INTL's are largely over.
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Oh and Wickham will the other one to replace Ngog?
almost 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Apparently Tottenham are the favourites to land Wickham but you never know. United and Liverpool leading the spending league at the moment! And its all British! Arsene Wenger would do well to follow suit.
