If it's a photoshop it's one of the best pieces of art you'll see. To reconstruct the lighting alone would take hours.

[warning: speculation] Makes you wonder if a deals been done and the lads were out celebrating or they were off their nut and Downing made an 'error of judgement'. Either way it looks like they're having a great time and if that transfers onto the pitch the two of them can have a pint whenever they like!

I don't understand this 3 hands thing, the chick is basically holding the scarf with both arms, while Downing is just pulling at one end. I use photoshop a bit, I reckon it isn't a 'shop.

I'd suggest Carroll threatened to beat him and his family if he didn't pose for the photo...  Think this good be a good tactic for future targets, tbh.. Beast of a man.
 
But yeah, thats the general thinking of people as well, its too well done to be a photoshopped.
 
The last 20 pages are just the funniest, most in-depth, crazy photo analysis you're ever to see.  some pretty serious people on there, using some CSI technology thing etc etc. Absolutely mental but really funny.
 
It moves from the number of hands there, to the number of fingers, to his head photoshopped, to the scarf being photoshopped, to photoshop pros commenting and people disproving everything else etc.

sounds like bit of a yarn to me, cant see kenny getting rid of raul, doesnt make any sort of sense

Yeah would be a bit of a blow imo if he was to go. He's really versatile can play wide, good attacking midfielder that links with the forwards. Maybe he is too old for the owners plan? Look out stevie and carra if thats the case!

You lot looked better last year with Stevie G out of the team - Meireles seems to occupy the same space on the field and when SG was in the team RM wasn't anywhere nearly as effective.

Well, Stevie didn't play a lot under Kenny- which was when we started looking good again, so maybe not entirely fair.. Is fair to say we were sh*te against Spurs when Raul was out. Think he moves well, links play well, and is a really good player. Be a shame to see him go.

Me too , E-N.Haven't looked forward to a season start this much for a while.
 
Jazz junior ( age 9) is spending 1-2 hours a night scouring scouting options for KD/DC.If I have't heard of a player , chances are junior  will know everything about him and whether or not he'll be a good fit.He really rates Mata so thinks we should get him. Less bothered on Downing , didn't rate Marveaux.He'll be quite upset if Merieles goes. He also thinks that we played better without Stevie G than with him.Doesn't think we should get rid of , just yet.So i don't need an opinion ; my wee man knows it all
Oh , he thinks Lucas is the ducks nuts and that Robinson is promising but needs more work.He also thinks ALex Ferguson is an "old dork" , his words not mine. Who am I to argue?

 sounds good! Get him on the phone to Damien! Sounds good, glad he rates Mata, that's a good start; the guy is class and hoping against hope we can sign him. Sounds like you've brought him up well then! Ask him who we should get as a CB option... And good to hear him describing Whiskey Nose in those terms- although give it another year and he could be using some stronger words...

He thinks Sakho first option , Dann as second.Likes Agger but " Dad he breaks too easily".He wonders whether Kelly might make a good CB at some stage in the future.One of his coaches told him once that you need ball players in the CB position.God knows what he makes of the Greek then
Oh , I had to google Sakho, never heard of him . But Junior has all his stats all lined up .

Was woken this morning by Jazz junior "Come and see this, dad".He'd done his scouting early this morning and come across Ryad Boudebouz ( Algerian , playing in France).Again, never heard of him but "Dad , he can dribble and cross well.He's got good control and he's young".Now , If only he had DC's phone number 
Almost forgave the VERY early hour of the wakeup  but not quite.

Is it just me but I'm not too thrilled about adam and downing possibly coming into the club. Downing doesn't exactly have fullbacks quaking in their boots about marking him.......and with adam I'm guessing that if Raul goes adam with be an ok replacement. And Aqua well ..... if he decides to pick up his bottom lip and stay, could be very interesting for Kenny. Do you only play Suarez / Aqua or Carroll / Aqua. Or a diamond mid with aqua behind, but then what do you but gerrard, henderson, Lucas, raul. Damn we've got too many centre mids!

No, not just you.We haven't spent 20m on Henderson for him to not be a starting player ,and I'm guessing as a centre mid.If Gerro gets fit , he's the other one.So where does that leave Lucas ( recent contract extension, great season),Spearing ( squad?) , Shelvey ( on loan?) , Adam (??), Aquaman  ( not very defensively minded)  , Raul( gone?)
After the season he's had , Lucas would be almost first pick for me- does an awful lot of unselfish tidying up  an we still need a DM I think.
The other player I wonder about is Dirk. No way we're going to play 1 up front with 55m spent so where does that leave him?
The pursuit of Adam strikes me as unfinished business rather than a real need.I'd much rather keep Raul anyway.We need a LB , CB and winger more than Adam IMO.
I'll ask Jr his opinion

Are we forgetting that we really need the squad depth? Thats what's killed us more than anything the last couple of years. We don't have european football so can't realistically chase the marquees. Our targets have all been the best players (statistically) speaking last season, all on the young side and all capable of getting us through the next 12-24months where we can hopefully get that CL spot and start attracting the 'stars'.

My point of view is that both Henderson and Downing have the qualities to fit into Kenny's style of play. Adam adds to the depth and is also no slouch, I think he'll be good. Nothing like a little competition in the squad to keep players fresh.

Lets keep in mind that Gerrard/Carra/Agger/Meireles/Dirk's time is running out. Either from age or injury. Most maybe gone in two seasons time so we need to start getting replacements in now.

I like what I'm seeing so far and if we can pick up a signing like Sakho or Mata that puts us ahead.

I'm all up for squad depth but we seem to have the centre mid berths well and truly covered. We are lacking in other areas atm and we are still chasing adam.

Yep, like Bags I agree with you re the need for squad depth but I'm not convinced that centre mid is where we're lacking.
Interesting point re Gerrard and Carragher you raised ,Kop.I know it's tilting at the sacred windmills but it woudn't b a bad thing if they moved on.Experience is great but Carra's legs have gone-he showed that in the WC. Gerro's type of play means he can't keep going much longer  , and ( waits for flames) I don't think he's got the game type or vision to drop back a bit and play deeper.
Anyhoo , looks like ADam is a done deal.
Mata please , Mr Comolli.

Intersting article here guys, makes pretty valid point. Getting players in is really only half the job, have to get rid of the guys that arent going to contribute. They just expensive reserve players now.

Agreed. I'm not against the idea of signing Adam or Downing at all. Think they both offer us something different to what we have. In saying that, I'd rather have Meireles than Adam if we had to pick one. Think we could see Hendo on the right, there's just no space in the centre of the park.
 
However, also think we need Mata, or someone of that calibre. This is gonna be the type of player that gets us back into Europe. Downing is a solid player and he does offer something different, but we do need that something else, that 'Suarez-factor', to really push on.
 
Fair point about strengthening in other areas (we must have a good left-back lined up...) though, hopefully we can bring Wickham in to replace Ngog (if he wants to go!) and bring in a first choice left back. Seems the CB role is more important than the CM role too, in terms of bringing someone new in.
 
But, we have to think Kenny and Damien know what they're doing. Although, if Comolli's standards starts slipping, sounds like we have a couple of kids ready to step up

Absolutely, there's quite a list to be siphoned off. Jova's at the top. If it wasn't for his wage demands he could have a good starting spot in a mid table side actually playing some footy. Same with Cole. Spurs or Fulham could be a goer there.
The likes of Poulsen could be encouraged to go home but don't see these moves happening until nearer the end of the window. The Euro window hasn't even opened yet! Still plenty of time.

Hopefully two announcements this week.

Not liking the reports that Le Arse have bid $18m for Mata. It is the Daily Fail and Wenger's never bid more than 3 quid for a player so not sure if it's true yet...

I so00o hope we get Mata. Rumours have it that he likes the look of Liverpool as we can guarantee first team footy.
 
As discussed above, I'm not sure about Downing and Adam. Downing is probably useful for Carroll? Seems like if we get Adam then Meireles will leave which I am a bit gutted about. Still I trust kenny!!

Hey DC, just stump up the cash for Mata, yo. Scrap the low balling. Go in high. Wenger don't have the balls to bid more than a pie, gravy and mushy peas...

Downing bid of 15.5m rejected? Could be the reason for the transfer req. Oh and Shelvey to Blackpool on loan as part of Adam deal? Happy with that.

There's still no concrete evidence that Meireles is on the way out. Only if someone is prepared to bid around the $14m mark. TBF that's good money and we should take it.

Asked Jr his view this morning- " He's quite fast Dad but he runs with his head down like you've told me not to.He doesn't pass much"

Damn that's funny! I used to like lennon but he never really advanced as I think he could have. But his pace is pretty damn freaky! Pity he can't cross!

Still don't know why you would even consider getting rid of Meireles. He's one of the only players in your squad I would take. If you pay �20m for Henderson then sell Meireles for any less you are frankly mad!

Lets get Downing and Adam announced soon and then wrap Mata up before Arsenal get him. Not even sure how keen we are on Mata, tbh
