Me neither but I'm happy to be proved wrong on this! It is pretty good to see some young english talent come into the club with carra and gerrard getting a bit older.

Downing is almost 27, I wouldn't consider him young, he should be at his peak and come into out team and be effective almost straight away.

I kind of had the same feeling when Keane signed, a player who's been good and bad in the Premier League, considered a league star on a medium sized team. And a player I thought was a bit overrated, at that time I wanted to be proved wrong too. Anyway, I hope this turns out to be polar opposites to the Keane saga.

I'm happy as with Downing. Individually a good player, nothing great.

But look at our TEAM, it's starting to take shape. Can't wait to see Downing plant the ball bang on Carroll's head.

Roughly $9.5m each and arguably streaks better than the players that left. Thank you Mr Abramovich.

It's actually quite a difficult task. I think a lot will come down to who we are playing and the strategy KD wants to use for the match.

I believe the side is being built around Carroll and Suarez now so each selection needs to compliment them within the game plan. Either way it means we're regularly going to have the likes of Adam, Henderson, Aqua, Gerrard, Cole, maybe even Kuyt on the bench. Makes for some impact late in the matches instead of fearing about Mr Don't Rate-Yoo coming on.
