Good first half even with the slip up. You can see the intent there to pass and push forward even if it comes to nothing. I reckon we've passed more this half than we have all season!

Fully agree there! Some of the football they have been playing is by far the best we have played all season!

Love that whiteboard message from Holloway!

Man... after the Hodgson games I'm realising how much I like high pressure

Also, would love for us to try and retain possession further up the pitch rather than have Meireles, Lucas, Jovanovic etc just try and slide through Torres as soon as we pass the halfway line. Blcakpool are kind of battering us at the moment, need to move the game further up the pitch

Larf it up fuzzballs.

Bwackpool are a formidawble team...

We had poor finishing and poor defense in places which cost us. Lots of work for Kenny to do but the intent was there.

Pity intent doesn't get you 3 points.

Sh!tballs result, again....

obviously very disappointing result, but encouraging football being played.

Once Gerrard comes back in we can expect better service to Torres. I think the Agger-Skrtel CB combination is worth persevering with and Kelly played all right as well. Hopefully we can turn up for Everton on monday...

[:/] At least we showed what we could do today. Torres looked like he wanted it! Reina was stunning again. Kelly was good. That finish by Torres was outstanding.. But for there second goal I reckon it comes down to Johnson.. left the man unmarked on the 6 yard box, you cant do that! Although tbh he probally was also thinking about the man at the edge of the box.. Oh well there are plenty of positives from that game.

Blackpool better in all facets of the game except goalkeeper. Kingson was never tested so hardly a fair comparison.
Will have to play much better in the relegation six pointer on the weekend to get anything.

I was super grumpy yesterday and got chatting with my mate and Arse fan. He was saying that we basically need to overhaul the whole squad...I know it maybe considered a knee jerk reaction but I kind of agree with him. Maybe Roy was right in saying that we have a lot of deadwood.

Anyway if this is the case, then maybe mid table for the next few years is where we sit? Is it worth getting rid of players who cost us a bomb and dont perform regularly?

Surely players like Kuyt, Maxi, the Greek, Johnson, Cole, Babel, (even Carra and Stevie) need to be phased out and new blood come in? We supposedly have some of the best youth talent around and I wonder if we should start to blood them in the next season or two.

I think that this is what NESV are planning but it does mean that we must expect a few years of toil.....maybe I am still feeling emo from the past week (even with King Kenny).

On the right track I think. I know I suggested Carra move on a few months ago but one obvious thing that we have missed since his injury is how he organises the defense. He commands the back four and we've been pretty sloppy without him. So we really need another commander to sit under Carra as a replacement when his time comes.

I think Maxi still has a life as does Johnson. Johnson was paralysed under Roy, I don't think he ever made it over half way some games and yet against Blackpool he was regularly on the move (even in the wrong position at LB)

Kuyt is starting to show his age a bit or he's tiring after the WC and all the matches we've had of late so sad to say he may be on the go. As with Babel, Jova, Konch, Poulsen, Cole (could be a good squad player but high wages to injury rate is costly)

Soto is a good squad player at the mo but not a regular and Skrtl is up and down but I don't think we should get rid of him yet. You don't want to have too big a clear out in one go.

Pacheco needs to play more, he has the creativity we lack at the moment. A bit like Rojas is doing for the Nix. He has that raw x-factor we could use to lift confidence.

Shelvey, Wilson, Alaya, Suso and Kelly are the future. Apart from Kelly the rest still need a bit more time and experience. I think we're a couple of years off for these kids (Except Kelly, I want him to play more, maybe get Johnson up on the RW).

Striker, left wing, left back and centre back are key. Not sure we'll see anyone until the summer but maybe with Henry in town at the moment and the immediate need to lift performances we might have a go at snapping up some first team talent. Here's hoping...TheKop2011-01-14 11:24:22

Kenny Dalglish, the worst caretaker since Ian Huntley.

Lolled at fake Fabio Capello's tweet.
