Last time we had an FA Cup 1/4 at old trafford was not a happy day at all

I believe I watched that at the backbencher with some of you that have been around these forums that long...

Uber certainly, can't remember who else?

0-4 was the score :(

Was that like 2010 / 11 ish? I went to that game, living in Manchester at the time. Got a free ticket and went with a mate, sitting with united fans (quietly) and then we lost (maybe 2-0??) and I got on my bike, rode to mates restaurant and helped wash some dishes. Shark day that was.

Nah, it was 4-0 now that I think about it. Thinking about a different year. Still a shark day.

Yep it was 4-0.

Gallas gave Nani a good kicking for showboating at the end.

Think it was earlier than 2010 though Hawkwasp?

We were wearing the white away shirts with the maroon pinstripe.

Just checked, it was 2008. But there was a 2-0 loss to ManU in 2010-11 that I had forgotten about...

8-2 comes to mind. Woolwich have not had great results  in Manchester. I don't go with past results but at Old Trafford since 1993 you have won three games out of twenty two. We will see.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Ah yes Paul, that makes more sense. Got super confused about what one I saw live - watched us play United three times while in the UK, and we didn't look like winning one of them. I saw the 2-0 game live.

Yup. Given our form, your form, and your 400 left backs I'm feeling hopeful. Confident would be a stretch. Hopefully we get a classic.

Why do we consistently get linked with Pedro? I just don't get it.

Anyone that confidently says we are going to travel to Utd in the Cup, I'll have a bit of what you're on. I hope Wenger doesn't play a weakened team to go for the 4th palce trophy, the FA Cup is our only realistic chance of silverware where the club have us at the moment. Wouldn't mind seeing Rosicky getting a game at this point in the season in middle of the park, Paulista looked alright with the few things he had to do against Borough and I still prefer Ospina over Szczesny.

Yea I'm always scared of ManU PoL.

We've got a real mindf*ck against them. How we lost this year and last when they've looked so poor is beyond me, it has to be mental.

I think we'll see strong sides in every game now. Midfield is our only area of concern around injuries and Wilshere is due back this week to help out.

Rosicky usually comes to the fore around this time of the season and had some good games in Jan. I'm also in favour of Ospina over Szczesny at the moment.

Ospina has not had to do anything too spectacular yet, but he's looked solid and barely conceded any goals so no reason to change for now.

Agreed on all fronts......If we win this tie we will win the cup

I was reading some stats from Opta recently about premier league goal keepers & Szny was leading the league for save difficulty while Ospina wasn't in the top 10. It highlighted for me that while Ospina's having a good run, he hasn't been under the pump with a frail/re-jigged defence in front of him like Szny was. Szny's position, for me, is self inflicted. Had he not done some stupid stuff off the pitch you'd have no reason to have ditched him, and we'd all be singing his praises instead of Ospina's.

Oh & Bellerin/Flamini are out for the weekend. Chambers & Coquellin seem logical replacements. The question becomes do you play Cazorla & Ozil in front of the Coq, or do you play Cazorla & Rosicky & push Ozil out wide?

Wait, we might see Jack back. Wenger on Jack "Jack is fine". Whether that means on track, or ready to compete I'm really unsure!

Keep Jack on the bench, his form before he was injured doesn't warrant him getting a starting spot ahead of Özil, Rosicky or Cazorla

Southampton and Liverpool to draw please

An awesome game to watch, fast and furious.

Palace played really well in the first half and then came alive again in the last 5 mins.

Coquelin could have been sent off and Monreal could have been in trouble too, Clattenberg was pretty lenient.

Another 3 in the bag and 3rd place!

I hope Szc comes back in, and gibbs too. In fairness to the players today I've seen horses waltzing on better paddocks than that sh*te.

Yeah, you could see about twenty minutes in to the first half in Monreals corner that pitch was ripped to pieces. Great result all in all, considering United losing. Let's hope Liverpool and Southampton draw.

Only saw 25mins of the game but i really liked the way welbeck puts himself about. Always hassling their defence and getting in good positions up front. I had my doubts about him and giroud working together, but i think it worked quite well today.

I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

Still needs to add a clinical finish to his game but it will come

On the topic of Welbeck, why was he constantly booed? Does he have some history with Palace that I seem to have missed/forgotten?

Permalink Permalink

They were booing him for winning the penalty

Ah makes sense. Didn't occur at the time as it was a pretty clear foul so thought there must have been something from his United days.

Fairly standard fare anywhere you go. We've been part of it at the phoenix too.

If an away player wins a peno it's automatically assumed to be an incorrect decision and the person fouled becomes the devil incarnate. All part of the home croud advantage...

So our next series of league games - all winnable, but not bankers. Play well and we should rack up a bunch of points. Play poorly and our spot in the top four could start to unravel...

Everton at home

QPR away

Westham at home

Newcastle away

Liverpool at home

Burnley away

Sunderland at home

All the hardest ones are at home which is nice...

We've actually played 12 at home and 14 away at this point. We have a nicer draw than most to close out the season.

Massive 5 games that set us up for an amazing or horrific end of the season.

5 games in 15 days, thank goodness Jack is back. Don't imagine Rambo, Arteta, the Ox, or Debuchy will be back for any of these. Hopefully Bellerin is back in fold for Monaco onwards, need to be able to rotate.

That United game is now Monday night UK time, so gives a little bit extra breathing space.

I wouldn't like a 0-0 tbf.

Looking forward to it, morning off work so fortunately get to see it live.

Three for me, and two for them.
