Refreshingly honest.

It may be refreshingly honest, but it's also the epitome of everything wrong with the typical modern footballer. Only in it to pick up his weekly pay check, could barely give two shits about the club, it's fans, it's history, or it's culture.

Also this isn't a dig because he plays for Spurs. If an Arsenal player came out with this i would react in the exact same manner.

Yeah, I completely agree, but I'd suggest the vast majority of players probably feel the same way.

The good old days of players spending all, or most, of their careers at one club is well gone. Sad fact of life is that footballers are highly paid mercenaries who'll go, in most cases, with whoever waves the biggest cheque at them. Nothing to do with feelings or loyalty to the club or supporters, it's all about the $$$$.

This is what it means to be a "professional".

It is a job. No more, no less. If you do the job to the best of your abilities you get rewarded (in the case of sport -this includes fan adulation).

I grew up in the Spurs Steve Perryman era - a true club player and a fantastic ambassador for the game and the club. It's also why I never begrudged Pat Jennings going to the gooners (and I still think he is the man - and would've liked to have had a womb so I could have his babies). Those times have long gone, but watching football and supporting your club (whoever is wearing lillywhite or stripes) will remain the constants (to borrow the A-League slogan - "fan-made").

Closer to home does anyone begrudge Kosta going to the Roar? He could have stayed here and picked up a pay cheque (with or without kiwisaver).

He went to further his career (obviously) but pay would have alos been important (hey Kosta come over for half the pay but you'll get game time - I think not).

Was watching Jets vs Roar last night in a motel and heard the commentators mention the Nayim goal vs David Seaman.

This was after his stint at Spurs but once a Yiddo, always a Yiddo

It seems that posting on the Arsenal thread is not allowed. So, good win. From what I had heard all week the league was Arsenal's easy. Not so much.

A game of contrasts, we weren't really in it in the first half, then stepped up big time, and no better evidenced then seeing ARSEne Wenger jump up and down after they scored the 2nd goal, and then throwing his drink bottle and cap, loved it...
