Nothing in that. It was barely a head touch and the goalkeeper definitely made the most of it.

I hate how players milk head contacts like this, one in the EPL today as well. But, why players leabn in with their heads is beyond me.

It's so soft, and so dumb, but it gets rewarded so players do it.  Just like all the simulation and exaggerating on the beautiful game.

Also means it's super dumb to even do anything close to a head touch as they know it's a red.

Out of interest I looked up how long Zawada's red card suspension ended up being.

Found it on a Polish site and translated it - Eredivisie officials have suspended him for 3 matches (1 of which is conditional?)

So with the international break he's not available for them again until Sept 15 against Willem II.

(The website also mentions he played for 2 years in Wellington, Australia)

Zawada got his first ever Eredivisie goal. Scored in the 94th minute to give Waalwijk a point against Heracles Almelo in a 2-2 draw.

Zawada spent some time at Twente FC towards the end of the 2015/16 season when he was 19/20, well before he signed with us. He made 11 appearances and four starts but never managed to score.

It has been a tough start to life for Zawada back in the Netherlands, especially in a team that is already in serious danger of relegation, but it's good to see him off the mark.

Here is a link to footage of his goal from the match highlights: https://youtu.be/UkhEztkJ5D0?t=546&si=EiRhc_jPN0vyOGTW

(The link should automatically start just before his goal - but if it doesn't just scroll to approx 09:07)

Hopefully this will be the start of some goal scoring form for him

Doesn’t appear to be a big hit with all the fans. Some comments I read were calling for another player to be made captain. Hopefully that’s just a social media minority and it works out for him.

Zawada scored another goal in a 3-2 loss to Feyenoord over the weekend.

More goals more wins more happy fans! Come on Oskar!

RKC Waalwijk still sit in the relegation zone on a measly 6 pts from 15 games, 5 points from safety. GD -22

RKC Waalwijk edge Almere City (last, 6ts, -27 GD) on GD. I don't think their fans will be very happy at the moment.

Another loss for Waalwijk, but Zawada scored a 2nd half brace after they had gone down 3-0 not long after the 30 minute mark.

Like in his inaugural season with us, Zawada finding some goalscoring form in these last few games after a slow start, albeit a bit longer this time around and in a much bigger and tougher footballing environment. That earlier red card suspension obviously getting in the way as well.

Let's see if he can keep it up.

Zawada and Waalwijk are through to the KNVB Beker RO16 after a 4-1 win over SC Cambuur, in which Oskar got another cup goal.

Means he now has five goals in his last five games for Waalwijk.

Zawada scored again this weekend in a 1-1 draw with PEC Zwolle brings his Eredivisie goals to 5 + 2 in the Cup competition for a total of 7 goals so far this season.

Not a bad goal return so far playing for the team sitting bottom of the table

Also not bad for someone who only started scoring this month!

We really had a phenomenal team assembled last year, even though we didn’t quite realise it.

Maybe as a player he hadn’t realised how good he was either! Good to see the Oskar we remember giving a proper account of his talents and hopefully will see some success over the next few years.

Apparently turned down Plymouth and another English club in January? Heh.

A possibility they may scrape into relegation play offs in the last two game weeks, after a big win yesterday.

Yeah 2 games left and RKC Waalwijk (17th, -30 GD, 22 pts) now only 3 points behind Willem II (16th, -21 GD, 25 pts) in the relegation playoff spot.

Zawada 9 goals in 26 games has had a good season after a very slow start. He might get picked by another Eredivisie side if RKC Waalwijk go down.

A win today... no goals for him.

Yeah he's had a good season in a poor team. He will end up somewhere decent if they drop down. Any more talk about the English Championship team?

Don’t think he played today?
Wasn’t on the starting team or subs.
Would have been unusual for him not to contribute otherwise.

Zawada last week transferred to Groningen for a 750,000 Euro fee according to Tranfermarkt::

Three year contract.
First Polish player to don the green and white of Groningen.
He's learned to speak Dutch now apparently.
It's great that he's staying in the Eredivisie.

It is Zawada's 2nd stint in Holland. He played for Twente back in season 2016–2017.

Wonder if he's inching closer to Polish national team, with the AWs likely playing Poland in October.

There are a few Serie A, Bundesliga level strikers in the Polish team from memory.

Came on and scored his first goal for Groningen in a 2-0 win.

NEWS: NAC has recently inquired about Oskar Zawada. Insiders confirm this. The FC Groningen striker is open to a departure, but will need to be replaced. Loan with option to buy then a serious possibility. Among others, Sparta and Excelsior in the race. More to follow
