I see Bill Tuiloma is starting for Portland in the MLS today. He's fit enough to start in the MLS, but not for New Zealand against the Solomons.

Sounds like BS to me

I also think the treatment of Ingham was very poor

Gleeson and Boyd also on the outer

Is there any chance Lewis, Tuiloma, Ingham and others will stop making themselves available for New Zealand / Hudson?

So one thing that struck me today - Doesn't NZF have a fancy new direcotr of coaching from Austria or something? Is he not overseeing the work that Hudson is doing? Would he not be asking those questions of Hudson around liaising with clubs etc?

That guy has only just started (or is just about to), so I doubt he would have had a handle on national team selection.

Heraf has been in the country for 10 days or so. More likely Rob Pickstock who is responsible for such liasons.

All Hudson has done lately is to humiliate three young footballers in particular young Ingham.Hudson could of done any number of things to prevent the media finding out about the fitness issue, kept in house for one.To say he will be welcomed back in is all well and good but if i was Ingham Tuiloma and Lewis i would give Hudson the finger and wait till Hudson gets the sack which he will because they will be around a lot lot longer than the nob called Anthony Hudson. We will beat the Solomons but damage has been done to three young players I hope they show real courage and not do a Moss or Smith and pick up the phone, let there football do the talking and tell Hudson to do one

Have lost all respect for Hudson over this week - he is a petty petty man and not fit to lead a national team.  He might be a decent coach (might) but he dosn't seem to see a bigger picture at all.  Must be a nightmare to work with.

While I disagree with the handling of it all, Hudson has done the right then by not selecting three unfit players. We're trying to be professional here. Having players in the squad that aren't fit is a waste of space.

The handling has been shocking. There doesn't need to be a long drawn out explanation. All that needs to be said is he has been dropped for lack of fitness. not all this body fat crap.

What has he done wrong...

A reporter asked him why a player was absent from the camp - he answered honestly saying the kids fitness levels were not up to scratch, and given their game plan this is an essential element. The notion he should have lied, that some people have put on here is laughable!

Was anyone there when he spoke to Ingham, do any of you know how the conversation was held / delivered... You are all jumping to conclusions, attacking his character and questioning his ability. Which probably says more about most of us than it does him.

What if Lewis and Tuiloma told Hudson their not up to scratch physically - so he simply relayed that message, after all with Tuiloma, the chances are that information would have come from him or his club anyway... Hudson's powers of observation can't overcome an Ocean.

Respect is a pretty big word - are you sure its not just a dislike?

If you are asking what Hudson has done wrong in this instance, I don't think there's anything wrong with sending Dane Ingham back to his club, and explaining why. However, if both Dane and his club were unaware of the exact levels of fitness required, which they should be, then there has been a communication issue. And that's something Hudson has form in.

A lot of us, me included, do tend to jump on anything we perceive as being poor form from Hudson due to some of his previous decisions, selections and handling of situations. The saying "he has made a rod for his own back" comes to mind.

Hudson should be more critical with his own performance. His 'body fat' and fitness level talk is all distraction, same as the heat talk last year. The All White played hoofball and can not score even against small teams and even our experienced players could no string 3 passes together. The performances at the Confed Coup was mostly disappointing. They should be pumped and motivated but they looked hopeless, I blame the coach for that.

I blame him also with being 'honest' with Dane Ingham. He is a very young player and got hyped by Hudson a few month ago and now he talks about body fat, instead of educate and mentor him. Maybe it was a nice talk and Dane took it well at the moment, but I guess on the flight back this was a different story for him. The reaction from Roar was good, they try to protect and support the player with their statement.

i would consider that i don't know him well enough to form a like or dislike of him personally - His actions that I have observed and been told about from trusted sources have made me make the opinion that I do not respect him.  I won't be calling for his head as i think that kind of stuff is pretty classless.  Won't be shedding a tear when he leaves though.

Anfony served time about 15 years ago for assaulting someone in a pub. At the time he said the guy was "looking at him funny", but it turns out the guy wasn't looking at him at all. True story.

(this is of course fiction but it would be funny if it made it onto Wikipedia)

If any player from the All Whites was unfit - send them home. Hudson is trying to move past this boys club that Herbert held. If anyone is unfit in the squad, they should be dropped right away. They shouldn't be using international matches for fitness. Hudson highlighted this from day one.

i'd also like him to remove all players who can't successfully execute a 5-yard pass, but beggars can't be choosers i guess

Can we talk about something that many were saying throughout the week - that we had no midfield, that the game would be a foul display of hoofball - that turned out to be exactly wrong? Say what you like about Anfony the blow-hard social climber, but he seems to have got THIS game right.

There was absolutely zero pressure on our midfield though. I'm not going to sit here and try and detract from Hudson after a good performance but you have to consider how bad the Soloman's were before we go overboard with praise as well.

It must 2 or 3 players i heard in interviews talk about the level of preparation hudson puts in, always sending them stuff to do on their own. Hard to think that some of this stuff is not fitness related.

Had a vague realisation that with the repeated focus on fitness fitness fitness and the prickly demeanour, Hudson's turning into Big Kev Fallon.

personally I like the standards he has. A long way from when the all whites turned up to camp without a team tracksuit or formal kit to wear when they assembled.

The thing with Dane is a double edged sword. We want professionalism and the coach to be transparent so when Dane doesn't meet the standards required we should support him being dragged from the squad. We are also banging on about lack of engagement with the media so when he's honest and upfront about why Dane was removed we can't complain either.

This is the national team we are talking about.

Doesn't mean I like the guy and I think we can't read too much into a game against a team who would struggle against any lotto div one side in auckland.

Time will tell in November as they need to be much better than confeds.

I spoke to some people involved with the players... simple truth from them was that all players were under no illusions about what was expected fitness wise.

If Dane knew he wasn't there (and he would of), he could have told NZF before jumping on a plane and joining the camp. Would have saved Hudson having to make the decision in the first place.

Exceptionally unfortunate yet not surprised that Hudson continues to display some schizoid features (with delusions of grandeur and a flotilla of narcissism as a nice defence) in his personality especially in reference to certain on-going selections

re How does Moses Dyer gain team selection over James Musa as a recent obvious eg ?

and the blatant discrepancy and unforgiveable hypocrisy between what style of football he (thinks) likes to play re possession-based  (and fantasies about) and the reality of what the All Whites have mostly and painfully offered up under his tenure re Route 1 Hoof ball  with the odd and fleeting exception.

Pity about the more juvenille aspects of Hudson's psychology as well - re having to remain overtly dominant and therefore overcompensate due to clear maturational insecurities

re I don't agree with the method and style with regard to Ingam's removal  plus Boyd's non-selection remains a complete mystery? and Gleeson's ? again more a manifestation of Hudson's insecurities and his ineptitude and complete lack of skills in mentoring and man management.

The optimistic part of me says maybe...just maybe...by some fortuitous and exceptionally symbiotic occurance it does click for him and the team....like some parts of the game against the USA and Mexico .....yet against the 5th best Team in South America ! My head says no unfortunately ...not going to happen.

So to counter logic, common sense and probability and remain in selective denial and idealisation about their possible success and the  AW's chances in the coming play off series the on-going instillation of Hope that's required is challenging to say the least.... .....and unfortunately Hudson continues to add to not detract from that challenge.
