After a long build up in NZ looks like Vanuatu U20's had a good build up to the WC

Hudsonsays this but then still picks muppets like Moses Dyer who aren't performing in a lower league....
"Kosta at his best I can't leave him out but I want him at his best all the time. I'm really pleased with his response. He has a great attitude and he is great around the team."

Lost in all of yesterday's fitness saga, Hudson claimed in his interview that "we were the more dominant team in that [Mexico] game" and that "we should have won that game 2 or 3 nil". Honestly he talks so much shark that it's hard to beleive him on anything.

What a bunch of knob-polishing tripe that is.
There is definitely a game to track the number of names dropped during each interview. There is 10 in there!

In general, drawing significant conclusions from friendly games shouldn't be allowed
Normo's coming home
I guess the one redeeming feature is that if it gets him another job we can be rid of him and he can pack Andy Martin in his bag and take him with him.
In general, drawing significant conclusions from friendly games shouldn't be allowed
That was in relation to the confeds cup (which Mexico put out a second-ish string side).
A remarkable airbrushing of several significant factors in that article - and kudos for the level of chutzpah...

Ah fair enough - still a rewriting of history. I watched that game and we were much stronger than them in the first half and then got torn apart in the second half
Normo's coming home
It hard not to gag all over the smell of bullshark in that article. The turd has been polished so hard that its also most turned into a gold nugget.
If I turn up to a Premier League ground whoring myself, does that mean I have worked in the Premier League too?
Grumpy old bastard alert
I like the way it's said that he's turned around NZ football by virtue of qualifying for the Confed Cup. I'm sorry, but he hasn't turned us around at all, instead he's achieved the bare minimum expected for our national coach to keep his job, all while playing a type of football that appals followers of the game. And then he occasionally gets the team to turn in a totally schizophrenic performance, like the oft-mentioned Mexico game.
This is why some of us don't rate him, he blows his own trumpet without any real evidence to back him up.

I really hope Hudson's manager/agent is on good coin. He definitely earns every penny.
I think we all had an idea that he is skilled in the art of self promotion, this article is certainly written by a compliant scribe. There is a lot of spin in there and some assumptions that could be quite rightly challenged but in most cases, the big teams/clubs aren't going to be baffled by such bullshark. They will look at what he has actually achieved and at what level. Based on what he has said even, you'd think he might have in with a shout for an interview for an A League position but probably not a good enough background even to land that job. Apart from Bahrain and NZ, his CV doesn't scream 'pick me to take your team to the top". If he gets us to the World Cup finals he might be in with a chance at some Asian club/national team or real lower division English team but nothing more I'd think. He does seem to have some good contacts and that might give him a slight advantage in getting a better gig than his experience and results would normally allow.
Just a reminder that his "unprecedented success" with Bahrain national side was P12 W3 D6 L3 GF6 GA6. That's no where near the levels Bahrain achieved in 2009.
The only time he has achieved more than what was expected was with the Bahrain U23 side.
After 50 years of following the AW's he is certainly the most controversial coach we have ever had and if you believe some reports also the biggest ' fibber '
If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

The fact that he became a city banker for a while says all. Having met many of them over here, through work, social drinks etc... I would not trust the word or honesty of one as far as I could throw his champagne glass. See John Key for more info.

Incredibly stupid to compare the great JK to Hudson
Hudsons record since he came in( against non Island sides)
Played 15, won 1, drawn 2, lost 12, goals for 9, goals conceded 26, goals scored per match 0.6,
Yup! he's really turned NZ football around. LOL
This article is staggering in its spin.....and mostly complete bollocks!

Even when you take his record with Island teams it still isn't great as we would expect to beat those teams
Played 22, Won 8, drawn 5 and lost 9. GF: 23 and GA 22

*Haven't included the game against club teams
Edit: Got Fiji result wrong way around
The New Caledonia game in the OFC semis was down to luck and nothing else. If we'd lost that 3-0 it wouldn't have been undeserved.
The WC qualifier against them in Kone we could have lost as well.
Fuck this stupid game
23 goals for in 22 games is very poor when 9 of those games were against Oceania opposition, and you have a (now) EPL striker in the team.
Only scored more than 2 goals in a game twice under him too. And it's not just the OFC oppositions, there have been games against AFC teams (Thailand, Myanmar, Oman) where you'd have thought we'd have a decent chance of scoring some goals.
Last campaigns against Island teams we have 25 goals for and 9 against under Ricki.

Ken Dugdale wasn't a controversial coach, he was quite a popular one from memory, got us to the Confeds cup when Australia was still in Oceania and also won the Merdaka Tournament in Malaysia

I think you are probably right but surely Joe McGrath would give him a run for his money?
Joe McGrath was a charlatan who blagged his way into the job without the requisite credentials. A lot of the fault there was Soccer New Zealand's (as they were called at the time) for not checking more into his background and believing what he told them. Hudson however has the credentials (on paper) and more experience as a Head Coach due to his Bahrain stint.
But....
The biggest problem with Hudson is that it has been clear from the word go that this job is just a stepping stone in his mind and he will say and do whatever it takes to make his CV look better. He continually points to his supposedly improved squad and to things like the Oceania Nations win as if these are evidence of the AWs progress. A lot of people know otherwise.
Aside from this my biggest concern is his inability to see what it actually is that makes a player one who is ready for international football. His picking of Prelevic and Dyer in particular, and his overlooking of Boyd and Gleeson shows nothing but mind-bogglingly bad football judgement.
