"In March 2017, Hudson was caught out exaggerating his team's results to journalists. [46]"

This was deleted by Hudson or his proxies over the weekend but restored by me just now.

I can see good work by others from Yellow Fever in the edit summary!

Reason given by Hudson proxie "Nzwhiteout" for deleting the sentence:

"unexpl undo - rv due to adding inappropriate content: defamation regarding article subjects"

My reason posted on Wiki for restoring the sentence:

"Topic in the public record. Subject of this page has been having page edited to remove any factual but unflattering material."

This entire episode is cringeworthy, both the editing happening at NZF's end, and the fixation with it at this end. Sorry for the unpopular opinion.

Like your work Big Pete generally but this seems petty to me.

Sorry Big Pete but I agree. Again I normally like your spiels.

But in my view this Wiki thing has gone too far and is just plain sad now. Sure Hudson acts like a bit of a tool sometimes. But he is AWs coach, they are doing pretty good at the moment, and it's a huge year for the side. Everyone should be getting behind the team, incl gaffer for next few months!

You can be behind the team, think they're doing pretty good at the moment, and still think there are legit concerns about his attitude towards media criticism.

I have thought a lot about whether I care about all this Wikipedia stuff, and surprisingly I do. I think it's because it feels like by embellishing his record he is using NZ Football, and us fans as well, purely for his own gain. That's really, really cynical and quite depressing when you think of all the hard work volunteers and fans put into the sport. It feels like he's only in it for himself and that makes me not want him to succeed.

If he succeeds, he'll go, but leave the game in a better state (ideally with the 2010 bandwagon up and running, and legitimate candidates wanting to coach us).

On a slightly more positive note, at least our main issues at the top level of the mens game are wiki-editing staff and a goalie getting diversion, rather than widespread media coverage of players abusing partners/assaulting strippers?

I can't believe people don't think we should question a public figure lying on Wikipedia about easily verifiable facts. He did lie to the media as well. Sure, it's not like he's committing some massive fraud but how big does a lie have to be before someone gets called on it? Wikipedia only works because people like Pete go on there to call out people like Hudson.

Indeed, there are a couple of clauses under which you could argue Hudson or his proxies were breaching the NZF code of conduct. (Be honest, maintain high standards of integrity etc).

Does my head in to hears fans opine that we can disregard such ethical considerations - because, hey, we've had a few good results. When that becomes the accepted yardstick you're really got problems. (Think that philosophy through to an ultimate conclusion.)

I think it's fantastic that grass-roots fans are prepared to stand up to the flim-flam on a page Hudson uses to spruik his career and the UK press seem to use as a go-to for factoids.

Top stuff, Peter.

The NZF media dept have flat out denied that they (the media dept) are involved, and I believe them. Pretty sure this is coming from the coaching team directly.

Look Anthony, if you're going to get a mate to edit your wiki page, you should make sure they don't tell everyone that you go him to do it.

Hopefully he spends the rest of day putting his skills to use doing something more productive for the planet, like hacking Twitter accounts of IS or President Trump (take your pick).

After NZF feel they have to 'let go' of AH with this whole Wiki/media beatup, followed up by the likes of Wood, Reid, Smith all making themselves unavailable for AWs as they liked the gaffer, and just see it as yet another huge NZF cave in/cock up -  only then do I hope the bloggers jumping all over Hudson are content with their work.

Is it unreasonable to want correct stats on his managerial achievements?

And to say that Wood, Reid et al wouldn't want to play for NZ because they liked Anthony Hudson but he's gone so meh to playing for the All Whites, for serious?

If there is one thing this proves is that NZ Football won't 'let go' of anything.

Maybe not but it's seriously naive to think that the 'professional media', don't use social media now as a go to for juicy stories. If whole saga becomes a giant story in the mainstream press, expect NZF to come under pressure to deal with it.

Again Hudson has acted stupidly here, but I like the job and direction he has got AWs heading in. If he gets the arse this close to Confeds Cup and important World Cup qualifying games over some stupid Wiki shark I'll be fudgeed off, and so will no doubt be a lot of AWs players. They won't be happy campers. It will be a massive let down for them, and seem like yet another debacle for football in NZ. God knows have been too many of those.

Times have changed from Sven's day when you had to go around shagging the young female English FA staffers, to get yourself in hot water

Hudson wouldn't lose his job over this. He could easily claim its a mate doing it if he ever got asked.

The real question for me is  given the apparent propensity to lie, what was on his CV that was provided to NZF. And what due diligence did NZF do on him.

also if by some crazy circumstance he did get fired over editing his own Wikipedia, wouldn't that be his fault rather than the people editing it back to being factual again?

Just realised nobody has posted this here yet. Someone (not me this time!) has created a twitter bot that is posting every time his Wikipedia page is edited. Complete with top notch photoshopped avatar.

I honestly don't think too many people really give a  toss. Its not likely to escalate into anything too damaging, I'm sure whoever it is will be quivering in their boots because there are allegations of breaching Wikipedia's editing rules. Kim Dot Com this aint.....

I have just read the last three pages. Bl00dy Hell. Opinions divided. Let me just say these couple of pointers.

We all want the truth. Regardless of what Hudsons real stats or details are, people read wiki in the hope of finding out facts about whatever topic. Yeah I know, take Wiki with a grain of salt but.......

Hudsons birth place, his dob, his record for various teams should be there for anyone interested in learning about him. He should have nothing to be afraid of. He should have honesty and integrity. Why someone would wish to doctor his profile and embellish it when clearly, the true facts would surface sooner or later is beyond a joke.

If anything this is embarrassing for Hudson. Almost as embarrassing as pulling the you know who I am stunt to a security guard at Westpac to get him and a mate into there for free. He was told you might be who you are but you still need a ticket to enter as you have no pass.
