Fulltime:
Uzbekistan 2-2 China
Qatar 3-0 Kuwait.

Uzbekistan & Qatar progress to meet teams from Group B (Two of Japan, Jordan, Syria)

China's relatively young team looked decent, and could develop into a very strong side

Thanks for the accounts - just checking in every now and then.

China also has a Chinese coach this time doesn't it?  Hopefully the start of a long road back to respectability...

The Chinese coach is G** Hongbo, use to be play as a forward for China I think.. I look forward to our match against them very much!

Japan vs Saudi Arabia should be a goodie tonight.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

It will be interesting to see how Saudi approach this game as they are now out of the Cup.
Also want to watch Japan again to see what we are up against in a couple of months.

Anyone know if these two friendlies (China/Japan)will be on TV?

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Not in N.Z, have to find a stream on the webs. Bet365 has them streaming and in decent enough quality as well, just gotta sign up for an account.

It would appear Saudi aren't bothered as it is 2-0 after 15 mins.

Good scoring rate for Japan. Now three without loss. After 20 mins.

Halftime: Japan 3-0 Saudi Arabia

Saudi found a bit of heart, but the game was pretty much killed off after 20 minutes.

In the other match, Jordan 1-1 Syria at halftime.

As things stand, Japan will top the group and meet Qatar, with 2nd placed Jordan facing Uzbekistan in the next round.

Pretty nippy these Japs.  Not a good idea to leave these fanatical Japs with acres of room in the penalty box, so they can help themselves like a sumo wrestler in a sushi bar during banzai hour.  Mixed together with a hopeless goalie and zero heart: it's 5-0 to the suicidal Japs.  Always  the Japanese adidas strip, too.  It's very agreeable.

Fulltime: Japan 5-0 Saudi Arabia. What  should have been one of the matches of the tournament, is a huge disappointment (unless you're Japanese). Jordan 2-1 Syria in the other game.

You misunderstand me, NZ should be ultimately looking at self-sufficiency/dependancy in its soccer development.

I'll put it to you this way, say NZ goes it alone from 2012 (i.e. walks away from the A-League), and ends up winning the World Cup in 2026, how many people around the World would want to know how you guys did it? Heaps, I'd fly over to learn (and so would many more), and I'd be the first to congratulate the NZ team on its achievement.

That way, you can crow all day about "doing it the NZ way" and most would happily listen.

Is that better for you?

I agree. I stayed up for the Japan game and it was all over so soon. I'm not that surprised really, seeing they were out of the cup anyway. Pretty gutless. They caved in when we hammered them in the 82 qualifier.
