Was having a look thru NPL sides, these are the Kiwis I recognise. Maybe Wibblebutt has a better list?

Brock Messenger - Brisbane Strikers
Oliver Duncan - Brisbane Roar Youth
Emlyn Wellsmore - Brisbane Roar Youth
Zac Speedy - Gold Coast United

Michael Eagar - Port Melbourne Sharks
Jason Hicks - Bentleigh Greens
Louis Fenton - Melbourne Knights
Luka Prelevic - Pascoe Vale
Jeffrey Fleming - Avondale
Mitch Cooper - Green Gully

Andre De Jong - Hakoah Sydney City East

Mitch Cooper isn't eligible for NZ (he played for Australia U17 at 2011 WC & wasn't eligible for NZ at the time), but here's some others I know of:

Hayden McHenery - Western Pride

Shane Viitakangas - Bulleen Lions

Charlie Devereux - Adelaide United Youth

Lewis Miccio - CCM Youth

Godwin Darkwa - Sorrento

Jack Salter - Sorrento

There's probably more..

Given he has been playing in Aussie continuously since at least 2010 how could he have become eligible for NZ since that time?

"He attended the Port Vila International School before moving to New Zealand for five years and then on to Australia when he was 13."

So surely he was eligible before playing for Aussie U17?

When he played for Australia he hadnt lived in NZ for 5 years after his 18th birthday, so unless he has NZ lineage he wasn’t eligible at the time.

I can’t see FIFA granting a retrospective exemption.

Aaron Spain. Canterbury United and Coastal Spirit to Victoria State League 1 club Geelong SC.

Unsure of his international status as he has a Kiwi dad and PNG mum; unsure if he's been capped at senior level in a competitive match for PNG; anyone know?

Geelong SC plays in one of the two regional State League 1 divisions, underneath the Victoria National Premier League.

Below, Aaron at right back (and in red and black stripes!)

Tony Tannous' thoughts on the state of play just after the start of the current NPL season: NPL state of play (March 2018)

What do people think of the state NPLs in comparison to the Handa Premiership? The NSW and Victoria PL are definitely stronger to my eye and QLD looks to be on the improve. I note both Andre de Jong (Hakoah) and Brock Messenger (Brisbane Strikers) both left the Handa mid season in order to be there for the start of NSW and QLD NPL - so the player verdict seems obvious. A list of Kiwis playing over there was posted recently by Wibblebutt/RR. I'm surprised there are not more Kiwis over there, though I suppose being classed as a visa player doesn't help. Obviously OFC/CWC not in play, but better option than playing NZ Premiership? Any thoughts?

I'm not 100 per cent on this, but I believe the timing of the registration window in Australia is a factor in Kiwis leaving the national league early for state leagues, which takes away from the player verdict aspect somewhat. Know some would have liked to see out NL seasons if they could. State leagues being superior to NRFL/Central League/Mainland Premier League probably the biggest truth.

I talked to Aaron about this last year and he told me he was approached by the PNG coach who had scouted him in Auckland when playing for the Dragons in the ASB Prem.

Couldn't get the tricky paperwork sorted in time for PNG's World Cup qualifiers however.

So, no, Aaron's never played for PNG.

Aaron's younger brother Jordan, a Canty Utd youth league player and currently playing for Cashmere Tech in the Southern League, is currently in the NZ u-20 training squad.

Having a Kiwi dad and PNG mum makes them the same as Archie Thompson, the Melbourne Victory A-League legend.

I hope Rudan is right to overlook him......but he’s been amazing in this league.

I don't think its a case of him not being rated, just not playing in the right position.

Currently we're playing 5-3-2 or 5-2-3, in that formation de Jong can play in most midfield or attacking positions apart from Kopy's

Add to that, we have ample space in our squad and need depth

Doesn't make sense to me

NZ u17 players Emlyn Wellsmore & Oliver Duncan make the Roar NYL squad, looks like Nicholas Milner has transferred to Eastern Suburbs?

Young Roar Foxtel Y-League squad

Goalkeepers: Nathan Foster, Macklin Freke, Lachlan Hunter

Defenders: Tyson Martin, Hassan Ramazani, Jeremy Saint, Kai Trewin, Emlyn Wellsmore

Midfielders: Jay Barnett, Oliver Duncan, Zach Duncan, Brandon McMorrow, Ryan O'Connor

Attackers: Cristian Aloisi, Bryce Bafford, Lleyton Brooks, Daniel Leck, Cooper McCormack, Mirza Muratovic, Jyi Oakes

I wonder if Zach Duncan is any relation to Oliver?

No Wellsmore today but Oliver Duncan opens the scoring for the Roar NYL side

Roar NYL have qualified for the NYL GF, they will face either WSW or Sydney. They will be the away team. Sounds like the final will be broadcast on Fox Sports, so wonder if we might get coverage?

Wellsmore & Oliver Duncan are in the NYL GF on Friday. Fox Sports is doing live coverage, so it will be available on the YouTube channel (via  VPN). Dude doing the Sky TV Twitter account said he would get back to me about whether Sky will show it, as the A-League game from the same venue is on a pop up channel already.
