We're seeking clarification from our senior club management regarding the McGlinchey reports. #CCMFC

That's a really odd post - you would think you'd stay quiet until a statement is issued, just makes CCM look more of a shambles than the Nix.

Surely it's a done deal? That dompost article has tons of quotes from both McGlinchey and Merrick.

Surely it's just a matter of getting formal sign-off from CCM?

There's no way that press release would have got written without having at least in-principle agreement from them.

Surely?

I expect the Nix would've liked to of announced or confirmed it at the Members Forum similarly to the Gorrin signing. Really amateur move by the A-League media department. Nix must be pissed off.

Apparently its not confirmed.

Phoenix communications manager Russell Gray says the story was pre-written about a week ago and was ready to go when McGlinchey's deal was confirmed.

However, it hadn't yet been confirmed and it appeared someone had seen the story, thought it was a good one and put it up on the website, where it was picked up by media.

Gray said the situation was "very, very tricky" as negotiations were still underway with the involved clubs and he could not say when it was expected to be confirmed.

Totally stealing that for the thread title.

Problem is that a large majority of the FFA communications team are over in Brazil. This is probably the fault of an intern thinking he's stumbled across news that everyone else has missed while they are partying in Brazil.

Dear me, wouldn't want to be "the intern" that sparked this c o c k up when everyone else gets on deck. Not a good Monday at work.

Is it Rusty's fault though? Sounds like it's FFA's fault for ignoring the fact that the news hasn't been confirmed by either club yet.

At least this shows he is interested in coming here. Who knows how many technicalities are built into this contract situation, its possible his salary was bumped by the Japanese deal and CCM may not be willing or able to pay that. The player often gets what they want in situations like this so I am hoping that holds true here.

Almost certainly not the rust man's fault. But a full time media manager wouldn't hurt - poor bloke has to do 2+ jobs and fit in writing releases with doing the laundry.

By the same token, is there really much work for a full time kit man? (said from a position of ignorance, not knowingly)

Actually, watching the laundry go round in the dryer can be a very meditative experience and quite conducive to the writing process.

I'd guess that ccm have probably agreed to the deal in principle but now that this had all come out they'll probably hold on to the paperwork for a week or to make sure the nix get maximum embarrassment out of it.

We look like the guy that took the fat girl to the prom.

I guess you have to ask if this was a draft, how did the FFA get their hands on it? Why would this have been passed on to them before being official (assuming it was drafted by the club) ?

Would be pretty standard practice I'm guessing, done with the assumption that the FFA weren't completely incompetent and would respect an embargo.

Perhaps WeeMac has grounds to just walk away? There have been plenty of breaches of contract on behalf of CCM I'm sure while payers weren't being paid, etc.

This piqued my interest. Transfer fees of course cannot be paid between A-League clubs, but are there ways to get around that rule? I guess playing a friendly and letting one club keep the gate takings would be the obvious way. I don't know enough about how finances work in the league, but does anyone know of a way clubs could pay transfer fees in all but name?

I am so fucked off with the A-League/FFA media department right now. If they have jeopardized this signing in any way with their amateur shit then I hope the Nix go apeshit at them.

So apparently Phoenix drafted the story and put it on their website unpublished. Someone at FFA saw it, and put the story on FFA's website not realising it was unpublished.
