Hahahaha. Aussies going nuts over the test win was something to watch. Can someone remind them they lost their first test series at home since they began to dominate test cricket 16 years ago? Yeah, who's laughing now?
Three for me, and two for them.

Guptil had quality tours with the 'a' side and the emerging players over the winters and has scored a lot of runs in the shield so far but hes an opener, not a number 3. I like How, think he could be avsolute quality but maybe a few games of state shield will do him good.
Jake not considered because of injury, FFS!

Why is Franklin not in the side? Why is Gillespie in? Why drop How now, for an opener? Why are they pissing around with Oram - if he's no fit, he shouldn't have played at all. FFS.
A bunch of monkey could make better selections than these farken numpties.

Oram should retire, waste of space.
Hes not a waste of space but he should probably retire from test cricket we can't have him always injured.
How is in horrendous form, had to go.

Agree with EG, how is Franklin not in the team but Gillespie is. Horrible stuff.

Beach cricket is great fun to watch though, Dion Nash takes the piss

Don't start me on Oram. His career has been badly mismanaged by NZ cricket (and particularly Bracewell). Trying to convert a powerful batsman who bowls bit into a bowling all-rounder was an incredibly stupid thing to do, and ensure that we never saw Oram play international cricket to his full potential regularly enough. Still think that when healthy, Oram's one of few genuine match winners we have, but his injuries have been taking too much toll. NZC and selectors have to leave him to get healthy before picking him, otherwise they won't have just screw up his career, but his post-cricket life too.
The point about How is, why drop him now? He had a poor time of it in Bangladesh and Australia, and not too flash against WI (other than a nice 54 in the second test). He was outperformed as an opener by Redmond in Bangladesh and Australia, yet How retained his place and Redmond was dropped. And now he gets a duck after playing a couple of promising innings, and all of a sudden gets dropped, and replaced by an opener in an ODI series that only has two games to go. I just don't get that.
As for Franklin v. Gillespie - Franklin's bowling is no worse than Gillespie's, and he's about 1,000,000,000 better batsman than him. No brainer really.

Oram's still rated by the ICC as the best ODI allrounder in the world. But he needs to take a LONG break and get right. Agreed Bracewell was a muppet.
Redmond was rubbish too, he had that 80-odd against Aus, but looked well out of his depth the whole series. Not sure McIntosh is the answer either.
I do rate How, but he had to be dropped, but agree with you that it should have been done ages ago.
If they are picking based on form, surely Bell and Sinclair have to be given a crack.

Well I think we can all agree Bracewell stuffed up NZ cricket in general. Though EG Franklin doesn't have pace and his bowling relys on the weather while Gillespe is our fastest bowler by far (Can't remember anyone who atm gets in 140s consistently) just his line and length is abit off.
Although I do prefer Franklin for his batting and I think he is only slightly worse then Gillespe due to his reliance on the weather although I can see why the selectors choose Gillespe.

He has a drinking problem, yet they let him drink, not surprising really is it?
Welcome back Skippy, lets hope they give him a fair chance. Dunno why they will bat him at #3, he has scored all his runs this year at #4. Taylor normally bats at #3 for CD when he is available, I cant see why they cant do the same for the Black Caps.

Oh Jesse, Jesse, Jesse.....why?
The actions of a typical 24 year old New Zealand male. Something he needs to overcome sooner rather than later if he wants to continue as a professional cricketer.
Will Sinclair play more than the one game? Can't see it. Ryder back for Napier.
