Agreed, Although I do watch some beach cricket cause Its the only way to watch the talent that should still be playing in the NZ team now.

7's is just glorified 7 a-side full field touch...

Hayden set to announce retirement today.

In the same way that Ponting has never been a good captain against good sides Hayden to the best of my memory never scored massive runs against great attacks. England 05, India through last year and the Jaapies this year which have been the big series of the last few years Haydos has not scored big runs. 3 series ago when they lost in India he scored runs when he swept everything on offer, 2nd to last I think Damien Martyn scored all there runs.
His last Ashes series wasn't to bad but that was an average English side, the 05 series he was horrendous till he got that hundred at the Oval in the 5th test which even then wasn't really the innings his team needed.
So my rather convuluted point is that while Haydos has a great record I would questions whether he scored runs against good sides.

What a magic 9 balls from Millsy, had both Gayle and Chatergoon in knots. Great stuff, and some good analysis from Simon Doull on the tele as well. 1/1

He's only been out once, so his average will be his total runs - ie: 160-odd

I say we give him another crack

Nah, we'd have won that if it had gone to 50 overs anyway.

On an unrelated note, what an enjoyable, ahem, summer? of cricket it's been so far.

The Cricket outside NZ has been great, our summer has never really got going. In saying that though I have been impressed by the crowds at the ODIs and T20s, last years England series was great for the game here I think as will be the Indian series this year. Great to have one marquee side touring here every year! Think Australia are due for a full tour next summer, and SA can't be to far away either

Was gonna head down to the basin today but felt I should probably study, the Wellington side with the BC's back is quality, bowling line up of OBrien, Gillespie, Elliot, Ryder and Patel is very good. Southee and Flynn back for ND and a chance to watch the Williamson kid......... Grrrrrrr! Note to any prospective law students, do not take summer papers!

Summer hasn't been too bad weather wise in general, its just whenever a cricket match is about to break out. Hopefully the Indian series isn't affected too much, I can't wait/

Got down to the village green, really good days cricket. Quote of the day comes from what Ross Taylor said to me as I was getting my ipod (:P) signed. He had just watched a long hop from a spinner be spanked for 4.
