I know that at Canterbury games if you can carry it in it can come in. Don't know if that includes alcohol or not but there isn't exactly security at the gate....

Canterbury 115/2 off 26 overs. Means they need 106 to win at 4.6.

C'mon Canterbury!
Permalink Permalink

And Canterbury wins.

Even with your 8 Current or Former Black Caps you lose :P

Currently the table looks like this (Games played in Brackets):

Northern 25 (8)
Canterbury 20 (9)
Otago 19 (8)
Central 18 (8)
Auckland 14 (8)
Wellington 12 (9)

So hopefully (from a purely Canterbury point of view) the following results happen:

Auckland Beats Northern and Central

Central and Otago Washes out (even so the result wouldn't really matter)

Canterbury beats Northern by lots with a bonus point

and Wellington beats Otago. That would leave the table like this:

Canterbury 25
Northern 25
Auckland 22
Otago 21
Central 20
Wellington 16

Thus giving Canterbury a Home Semi or Final

The main thing is that neither Otago nor Central wins twice and Canterbury wins.

Northern, easy! I imagine it will be ND Cantab in the finals because they are the two teams relying the least on the Black Caps

Except if Northern beat us. Then it isn't likely.

Otago crush CD and Northern crush Auckland today. BJ Waitling scores a hundred for ND, dare I say it but at the moment we actully have guys putting pressure on the incumbents in the form of guys like Broom, Waitling, Ingram, Sinclair, and with people like How floating around and with Styris yet to come back from injury as well as Oram things are looking up for the India series.
In other news Waddle on the radio the other day said the selectors were seriously considering Corey Anderson for the ODI and T20 squads... Interestingbopman2009-01-21 21:39:05

It could be said a bit of depth building up in NZ cricket - is theis a result of finally having decent first class batting tracks?

Domestically with one game to go its quite simple.

ND 29
Otago 24
Canterbury 20
CD 18
Auckland 14
Wellington 12

Northern  guranteed first and from then on its simple: It rains in Invercargill Otago get two points move to 26 meaning we don't have to do anything and get a home semi even if Canterbury beat ND (unlikely) and CD beat Auckland fair chance.

Brendan McCullum is off to play for the Speedblitz Blues (aka New South Wales) in the 20/20 Big Bash (aka Aussie Domestic T20) Final...

This means he qualifies to play for them in the 20/20 'Champions League' for them... as well as potentially qualifying via his IPL team as well...

Weird.

Weird.

Thats just stupid - It would be fine if he had played for NSW for the whole competiton but to just play one game..... Turns the sport into a bigger joke than international rugby league.

Also possible that if Otago wins the 2020 he could qualify for Champions league with them aswell.

No. But at look at his bowling statistics this season.

Sometimes I think the selectors just throw darts at the list of all first-class cricketers in this country and pick a team on that basis.

Was reading an interview with Glenn Turner this morning about the selections and was left speechless.

Did it go something like we can't afford to play Chris Martin, we're going to get a hiding anyway, and what was wrong with Robert Kennedy anyway?

Actually, those sound more reasonable than Turner...

Couldn't agree more. Seems like they always seem to hit Fulton then decide to bat him at 5 or 6 where its a waste to bat him there.

Turners justification of selections was humiliating to NZ Cricket.

Great bowling performance by ND so far. And now back to my obsession with Kane Williamson, watching him bowl his offies he gets some decent rip on the ball. With the Black Caps going to Sri Lanka and Pakistan (i think) this year what would people think about him being our all rounder on those trips. Obviously if Oram is fit you pick him but I doubt he will be. He has been scoring good runs in both forms of the game and will get it to go nicely on the sub-continent. Just a thought anyway and CMON ND

This Neil Wagner guy... He eligible for NZ? Only 22, FC bowling average of 19, and One day 22. Gotta be near international with those sorts of figures.

All out 181. Only downer was the last wicket partnership. Otherwise a flawless bowling and fielding performance.
