First real silverware. Minor Premiers doesn't count for shit when you have a finals series.

Three for me, and two for them.

its a trophy tho', but yeah 100 Minor prems don't equal 1 grand final win

A number of them are going to other clubs.

Three for me, and two for them.

Are Shaun Johnson and Charlie Gubb staying?

Disappointing that four of our strongest players are joining other clubs. I thought that Likiliki (???) looked really good. Sean Johnson is something special. Someone please tell me the Warriors have signed him?

Gutted chooks. Stoked for Nightingale.

Can't blame them, pro contract comes calling you have to take it. Which players are leaving though, and where to?

Nafe Seluini -> Panthers
Mark Ioane  -> Canberra
Elijah Niko -> Melbourne
Siuatonga Likiliki -> Newcastle

These ones have senior Warriors contracts for next yr:

Matt Robinson
Glen Fisiaahi
Ivan Penehe
Shaun Johnson
Elijah Taylor

Massive result for the baby Warriors, well done.

over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
The Fish and Shaun Johnson are the key one's to hold on to there - so I'm glad they've been signed to the senior team. Likiliki is going to be a quality player, it's a shame he's headed away but hopefully he cracks the big time nice and early over there in Newcastle.

Really enjoyed grand final day yesterday, sure is a whole day event and they do it very well.

Glad the dragons won, I didn't really see the sense in everyone picking the Roosters. Did Darius Boyd really deserve the Churchill medal? I didn't considerhim to be that much of a standout. I would have given it to Gasnier, Cooper, Hornby or Nightingale

and has anyone else heard the rumors of a life ban for Thurston, Blair and Mason (as well as two others)? Would be quite something if it was true
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Boyd winning the Clive Churchill was ridiculous, I said to Paulinho about 30 in that Boyd needed to get in the game. He threw one nice pass to Nightingale for his first but apart from that I don't remember him doing much.

For me it should have gone to Jeremy Smith or Ben Hornby. Probably Smith though as I think it was the Drags 2nd row that won it for them in that second half.

Ryan Tandy, Aaron Payne, Hassan Saleh and Sam Ayoub are the other names i have.

The rumour with Thurston is he was told about the life ban on the day he went and got hammered and ended up in a cell.

Three for me, and two for them.

Yeah those names started floating round last week, Gallop said on the Footy Show it's all bollocks. Hopefully that's the truth.

I also thought it was strange to see Darius walk away with the medal. I thought maybe Gasnier or Smith, and I also thought Fien and Soward were impressive. On that topic.. what a great year for Fien, dumped by the Warriors and gets picked up by the Premiers, and whats more, he's been playing very very well. Signs are looking good for the Kiwis! The only problem is deciding on who to play as the wingers. Probably will be two of Vatuvei, Nightingale and Perrett. Although I hope they ditch Hohaia and stick Perrett at fullback to accomodate all the three.

No way will they ditch Hohia to play one of those 3 out of position

Perrett has played a lot of fullback and has played there for the Kiwis. Nightingale played there for the majority of last season for the Dragons.
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Hohaia was one of the best fullbacks in the comp this year, why one earth would you drop him?

Unfortunately one of Perret or Nightingale will miss out, maybe one will make the bench and when they come on Hohaia goes to 9.

We can put a very very good team out, just off the top of my head my top Kiwi team would be

Asotasi, Luke, Blair, Harrison, Mannering, Smith, Fien, Marshall, Kenny-Dowall, Ropati/Sau, Vatuvei, Nightingale/Perret, Hohaia. Bench of Nuasala, Packer, Warea-Hargreaves and Nightingale/Perret.

Im probably missing some pretty decent options there.

What about overseas players? Leuluai? Brent Webb?
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Leuluai and Eastwood are the only Super League based players in squad. Maybe Eastwood would make bench ahead of Packer

[QUOTE=TopLeft07] Heard four players are to be served life bans after the GF. All being found guilty of being involved in an illegal betting syndicate. I had heard about investigations of a betting scandal before today but this life ban thing is new to me. Some high profile players names being thrown around too.

Greedy muppets.

But as Paulinho mentioned, Gallop publicly said he has no announcement regarding a betting scandal. I think he also said the matter had been handed on to police and they are investigating it. So something could eventuate from that investigation but who knows.

I thought Ryan Tandy was caught red handed when he blatantly dropped the ball and gave away a penalty soon after [anyone see that footage?] so I'm expecting something to come out soon, whether it's just him or the other players mentioned as well.

I reckon Boyd won it to make up for losing out on the Dally M

Probably add Foran in there too.
And maybe Tony Williams too?
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Tony Williams opted to play for Aussie.

Leuluai won the motm award in the Super league grand final, I cant see him starting, but given he can play 7 & 9, he might fill the utlity back spot on the bench.
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
That's news to me. Can only really see him being a bench player for the Aussies

Kieran Foran isnt in the squad, he's injured. Ropati out I think.

Still going to have a very useful side.
