sure they are lead by Europeans, but the party is not built to target one race, the Maori party was and is built on winning the Maori seats and appealing to the Maori population.

and who do you think they are appealing to?

are you seriously saying that if NZ was only 13% European, you'd gladly live a Maori-centric life, including speaking Maori, having Maori in pretty much all the media etc.

Bearing in mind that NZ is the only country in the world with Maori, so ou can't just leave the country for some affiliatiion....this is it.

All minority parties cater to minority factions - if there was a European Party, yes, it would be racist, becuase you are already in the ruling elite, so you're motives would be to what - to crush Maori? render them obselete?...

Sticking up for your dwindling culture isn't racist, but being oppressive toward another race is

since when did being European put you in the ruling elite???

and when did anyone say anything about crushing one race or the other.............all I was commenting on was that ACT and the other minority parties excluding the Maori party try to appeal to all NZ'rs as opposed to once race. I'd say the same if the Asian, Assyrian communities decided to start a political movement. to make it clear, I suggested starting a YF Political movement, solely for the purposes of appealing to the football followers in the country. As far as I can see its pretty much the same, except that the Maori Party are the only ones that are tryoing to appeal on a race basis.

here's where we disagree. You can't have extremes that appeal to everyone - Act and Greens, for instance - how is someone that supports the Greens gonna support Act, and vice versa.

Inappropriate website ads.

On fifa.com U17 pages I'm getting ads for penis enlargement. Are others getting these or has my computer been hijacked?

Makes it interesting watching the highlights with my kids, and ads on the side of the screen saying "surprise her with a bigger penis" and "click here to add 4 inches"

I think by "appeals to all NZ'rs" as in "appeals to potential voters regardless of their race".

ACT appeals to those believe in the free market. That's Pakeha free market believers, Maori free market believers, Asian free market believers - they don't care what ethnicity, your belief is what matters.

Greens appeals to those believe in environmental issues first. That's Pakeha environmentalists believers, Maori environmentalists, Asian environmentalists - they don't care what ethnicity, your belief is what matters.

And so forth.

(That being said, I myself do believe the Maori Party has a place in our society...just not the Maori seats)

(Obviously don't need it while at work, then. Ads here are OK. Must be a virus / worm / general lack of computer security.)

yes, and the Maori party believes in Maori values - now, how does that differ from European values? because it differs from Act, Greens, National, Labour etc because those are Eurocentric parties. You can't have "Maori" ideals withut the word "Maori" - you can, however, have European values without the word European - that's the point of differentation.

Correct - to a degree. And I do agree with you The Maori party is for all NZers - including non-Maori - who feel Maori issues are the most important issue for them. Hence why I support their legitimacy (though I myself will never vote for them).

The only way in which they appeal strictly to Maori voters is that they only run candidates in the Maori electorates.

phew - for clarification, I'm not arguing that the Mari Party isn't based on race - just that it isn't racist. I don't believe demarcation because of race is racist* - in the true sense of the meaning of the word - but it is a semantic minefield....

the easy argument is: "there's a Maori Party, but no European Party" = racist, and you hear loads of people toss this argument off - and it's simplistic and boring. The whole parliamentary structure is "European" - the fact we have a Prime Minister is European etc etc.

*just like hardly any people say "but we're all humans, why do we have to have separate toilets for men and women - it's sooo sexist...."

but  whatevers, I should do some work...
