Got threatened in the car park last season as we made the long walk from the club rooms to our car. They were some quality individuals who weren't too happy their cousins/brothers had 3 points nicked off them.

Also agree with whoever it was talking about Karori dreamers. They were quality and sure taught our much younger Wellington United side a couple of footballing lessons a few seasons ago

Fuck this stupid game

Huge weekend all round really, two games for most so the chance to change table positions significantly. Big test of depth with two games in three days.

What a wicked weekend for capital1 with amazing weather and some great results and some good old  argybargy with no monkeys in site…..

NW did my picks in but draws are hard to pick and the win makes it all good for the team which makes me happy and makes those top two spots more open which i hope means a good fight hopefully at the sharp end of the season.

though BNU are still unbeaten which could mean a fight for just one spot (2nd).

For those of us out of the loop, before he was or wasn't fired or did or didn't leave of his own accord, who was the North Wellington coach?

Steve Maclaren is his name and his yellow fever name is chelseanut….

nice guy with a lot of passion and heart for football who was handed a bit of a large Shit sandwich after NW was taken to court by the previous coach of the first team because of the actions of the Management committee and other issues.

these actions and issues had a large effect on quite a few players and others at NW so we lost all but a few of our senior first team women as well as the coach.

and steve was left with a team that also had no real experience but promises of some top youth players in the club and in that first year 2013 he was handed a loaded gun by members of the management committee to fire on two occasions to gain some points and did so causing some tensions with some other cap1 clubs…….

so i really feel that he has been dealt a bad hand and mr Marron_men and his BOYS can check these facts and if i am wrong i will apologise but i do have the minutes from the AGM's and other documents to back up all that i have stated…..

You seem to know a lot of this coach and club.

So who is Spartacus?

well i have just been talking to a member of the North Wellington Executive Committee and they have informed me and shown the report that the Chairman has set up a committee to look into a discipline action against me as the poster on Yellow Fever as "who is sparta"

So therefore i must be Spartacus as they cannot be wrong can they?

oop's they seem to have gotten the posters name wrong so what else have they wrong?????

Now i am angry and i have all the good stuff to sling if not already slung…….

Give me a couple of weeks to read what has already been posted and see if i can fill in any blanks on the 11 team thing and anything else thats juicy….

It might all be out there and it is a bit of a  dead issue but after the sacking of the first team coach and this report i am not happy to just sit by any longer especially seeing i am already guilty in the eyes of my own Executive Committee…..

How about filling us in on the rumoured back alley conversations between NW Exec and a member of the CF Board prior to the league expansion being tabled?

Sorry but wrong

Johson-villa joined Onslow in 1972 then absorbed Newlands senior club in 1992 when Newlands were caught short of funds and North wellington had enough to pay there bills and keep a bad thing from becoming ugly.

This was not a bad thing in the long run as it brought across some very good club members who are still with the club today and some who have moved on after giving good service at top level.

Loftus you might be thinking of the merger of the two local junior clubs that happened after 1992 and was not an ideal situation as then they played in the Mana comp and with the loss of the Porrirua clubs into western suburbs there was only 4 clubs left in Mana so the NWJFC played allot of home derby's as they had multiple teams in each grade now.

If you think i am wrong you can contact the secretary of NWAFC or visit there web site but it is not easy to find the info there.

North Wellington was formed in 1972 following the merger of Onslow (formed 1934) and Johnson Villa (formed 1951). North Wellington then merged with Newland- Paparangi in 1992. (source: www.ultimatenzsoccer.co.nz see Club database.)

I played for Johnson Villa just prior to the merger, in Central League Two, when we wore the Aston Villa strip and when the team had two kids who went on to play for Wellington City and the All Whites.

Each league a different number perhaps?

Interestingly, earlier in this thread there was a suggestion that the 11 team league was in part to teach Jamie Cross a lesson for his supposed error in the advice he gave to Miramar. I'm not sure how true that was, but if it was even a little bit true then it's backfired - he's off to Auckland to be a ref devt officer, leaving the job of doing all the draws to be spread across other much less experienced CF staff.

Drama could indeed be the end result.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

nice to hear your history Jerzy so where did you gather back then after the games?
also do you remember the names of the two youth as the clubs history is a bit sketchy on there earlier years as the club known as Johnson-Villa
by the way the club colours are still Aston Villa colours Claret not MAROON as supplied to teams today.

nice to hear your history Jerzy so 1) where did you gather back then after the games?

also do you remember 2). the names of the two youth as the clubs history is a bit sketchy on there earlier years as the club known as Johnson-Villa

by the way the club colours are still Aston Villa colours Claret not MAROON as supplied to teams today.

1). Alex Moore clubrooms. I was too young for the pub down the road, which was where the older guys went. Or maybe they went to the RSA. 2). Jeff Strom and Steve Boyland. Manager was ? de Ridder. His son Wally (Wol) was goalkeeper. Seem to recall they ran the club as a bit of a private fiefdom but I may be wrong, I was just a kid.

We lost Boyland half-way through the season. He was an ace striker. Snapped up by Hungaria after failing a trial with West Ham. Played once for All Whites (v Iran). Phil Peters, our winger, also lost to Hungaria. Both were 17 yr old J'ville kids. Think Phil shot himself (bad romance) soon after. Jeff Strom maybe 2 years younger, also local kid from well-known footballing family (Richard, Dave). Played 12/14 times for All Whites. Best result I remember was in Hilton Petone semi, when our Central League Two team came v close to bowling Mar, who were the gun team then as now, with 3 current All Whites playing. Lost 1-2 to Rangers (not Mar as they seem to be called now - btw way we were colloquially known as J Villa) before a full stand at Memorial.

To the other question, no, never played in an 11 team league.

i cannot pin down myself exactly when you played but the local area used to be dry so there was no pub unless the broderick inn had been built but i don't think it had so therefore the clubrooms were either at the TIP TOP cafeteria on the main road or in one of the committee's garage's not far from the park.but i will pass you info to club archive person who may know a bit more….

You're right. Broderick Inn opened 1974. Who's the archive person?

PS My roots were with the Onslow side, not Villa. I think the merger happened because the Onslow seniors were at the point of dissolving but their juniors were coming on strong so needed leadership. As well as playing for Villa I coached a team of Onslow juniors, 3 of whom were soon playing National League.
