Yep,Had a few games 4 them this year with Bing & Moi Moi. Very average,Bing got 3 in the first 20 before he left to open the takeaway @ Mana. Adam plays for them so does Jake.

Hopefully the weather comes to the party, we're never our best in the mud.
Should be a great game though.

Well - a very tough game against IB Massey saw us come out as 2-1 victors - and league champions! I am stoked.

Good to meet some of you boys at the YFSLP last night too

.... then we can have a rivalry to match our disdain for the HHH side now playin in cap 4???!!!

Hey disdain? (I realise I'm late to this discussion, but Phil only brought it to my attention a few days ago.) Disdain? Is that because you were normally generous in giving us 6 points a season*?  *apart from 2006, when we split the games after you (very deservedly) beat us in the first match.

Can you imagine if we'd stayed in Cap 5 this year? There would have been three IBU teams in the division. The rest of the league would have been sick of playing Island Bay!

By the way, that Tawa team who came up from Cap 6 in 2005 and won Cap 5 in 2006? Won Cap 4 this year, without being beat. The Marist team that came up from Cap 6 in 2005 and Cap 5 in 2006 struggled for much of the year. We finished 4th. We were looking good for promotion at the half way and then went in to a slump. Overall, I don't think Capital 4 is much stronger than Capital 5 - all pretty even.

It would be great to have a playoff series built in every season, one vs four, two vs three etc etc. Because it seems the season has been really short this year plus we pay a alot for subs. If many of the games get cancelled the council/capital footy could scrap the idea for the season.

I see wanui, upper hutt, north wellington, and the slapperZ in cap 5 next season so plenty more travel (and chopping) on the cards. No more Island bay teams!

Great season! the mighty Rangers will be back next year.

Cheers, koppa, and sorry for my phone crapping out on Saturday - gonna have to get a new one from my win bonus!

Bit of a laugh seeing another Island Bay Team in Cap 4; dunno if we can handle much more of you lot! Hope your back comes right for next season, too.

Peace, bro.

Do the Cavs get promotion as well? If so, I think IB Massey would be my pick as favourite for next year - outside of the Cavs you gave us two great games.

Tell you what jmsimons777 - I can barely move today - your red-headed striker who came on in the second half nailed me!

If they apply the usual rules, then the Cavs will go up too. From Capital 4, presumably Upper Hutt RJs will come down with Wainui (assuming that Miramar don't lose the remaining game by 7 goals). There are two Upper Hutt teams and I can never remember which one is which, but one came up from 5 in 2005 and I think that was the RJs. They're quite good and I find it surprising that they're in the bottom two. They're mainly of the Masters age group and will give any team in 4 or 5 a good game.

Wainui might not come in to 5. I expect they'll either drop out or drop down further. They were truly awful for the second half of the season. We beat them 15-0 and that flattered them - and scoring is always our problem. They resorted to fielding kids to make-up the numbers by the end of the season. Their keeper was a nutter. Whenever he came out to close down a forward, he would roar at the top of his voice (unsportsmanlike conduct surely?). Then he would lay splayed out face-down in the mud and delay the game for about 2 minutes... every time. The ref didn't seem to mind any of this behaviour. With the game "delicately" poised at about 12-0 around the 80th minute, he decided he would switch positions and came out in defence. He continued to roar whenever chasing down a player and continued to lay prone in the mud at every opportunity. With about 5 minutes to go, he sprinted 30 yards to one of our players yelled something and jumped on him, held him down and spat all over him. Everyone - us, them, the ref, sideline spectators - just froze in surprise before the melee to pull him off. The ref obviously sent him off and the remaining minutes were played out with everyone just wanting to stop as the game felt ruined. After the match when I was driving out of the park, I heard him boasting to his friends that he'd told them he'd get sent off again before he retired. Wainui finished their season with no wins and having conceded 106 goals.... I'd be surprised if they only go down one division.

New to Welly or new to NZ?  Most footy in this country is social.

....or anti-social, in some cases

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

If you are mates with Richard, who not play for Wellington United ?  Just a thought.

If you are in Kelburn then your closest club would probably be University.  PM CNUT and ask him what is going on there.
