Was a fantastic game of football.

We had a man sent off about 10 minutes into the second half.

Both teams had chances (and penalty shouts), but the ref was outstanding (and I say that even though we had a man sent off).  Campbell Whatever-your-last-name-is, you get my vote for best referee in Wellington last week.  Really top notch.

Overall a great game of football played in good competitive spirit.  Both teams are young (we had 3 15 year olds playing and most of our squad is under 21, and they are similar).  Both teams try and play.

What a massive difference in them since we played them in the opening round and they were pretty minging and fell apart in the traditional greek style.

Yeah we've been pretty lucky to get Newtown 1 a few times this season but it's not ideal having to adjust from playing there to playing at the likes of Melrose. Better off getting used to it though, it only gets worse from here.
I'm sure most of us know this but to improve these grounds it's going to cost mega $$ and the council aren't interested. I only see them getting worse each season. I think it won't be long before pitches like Newtown will drop in quality too.

Fuck this stupid game

Great to hear Smithy, I know when we played Olympic we were able to open them up and vice versa by actually playing footy. If only our strikers could actually finish a goal, they probably couldn't even finish a beer. And boy oh boy that left winger they got, fast or what!!!

Hmmm Kilbernie this week... should be glorious!

Newtown is like a lady of the night. It looks great from a distance, but flaws become apparent as you get closer in and the light improves, and below the surface a nasty suprise could be lurking. But you carry on regardless because that's the best your're gonna get.

I hear the council is looking to upgrade wakefield, composite artificial surfaces etc etc... So in 3 to 20 years things may start to improve.Redwards2009-06-12 16:40:43

What are the council thinking. What they should do is put another football ground on the old Churton Park tip. That way, not only do you get to pick up some sort of serious infection, you might also get the bonus of picking up an old chair that's come to the surface. Win, win alround I say.

karori humped wellington united 5-1. There was a contraversial red card in the first half but from what I saw Karori were pretty dominant through out the park there 3rd goal was a screamer. Wellington utd should have stayed around to be taught a footballing lesson by their thrids beating the greeks 6-0

Better put my comment in so my coach can yell at me on Tuesday

Great game by Marist, could have been 10. Would of made the goal difference even healthier. Not much to say really, just boggles the mind that BNU gets up for massive games, and gets pumped by Wainui.

Either way game on this weekend, with the top lot battling it out

Also IB - wat the hell, beat WU then lose to Stokes Valley!?

Marist 1 NW 1

Bugger

Can't really complain, wind kinda shagged game. They will be gutted, I pulled off a few good saves. But then we got a goal disallowed last kick of game for offside, and their keeper and defense said it was on. Oh well what ya gonna do.

We still have to score more, that's our issue. Game on last 6 rounds really, it will go to the wire!

For the record I played the last 20.

Probably the worst referee I've ever seen in my life.

MADNESS!!!

Premier Leauge looks tight, but we even top this. Great result for Marist all round, BNU the true dark horse of the league, beats the like of Marist and Karori, but lose to Stokes Vegas.

Either way, MASSIVE game at the bobbledrome next week between Marist and karori... will you grace us with your presence Greenie? Or does the red still keep you out

Also Smithy, any comment from the game, your lads didn't seem to happy after the final whistle. I'll give you this though the ref should of probly had one of our lads off, we were smashing your number 8

Comedy defending cost us but just like last time we never really threatened your goal.  Your back 4 very solid.

Ref didn't give us much protection and some of your guys pushed the limits but we can't complain.  First off it didn't change the result at all and second if you're going to play kids (which I am) then you have to expect them to get kicked (which they did).  Tough for them on the day but short term pain long term good for the club.

BNU didnt beat Karori.
Big game for Marist if they want to go up anyway. The Dreamers will be maintaining their low key approach. Um might make a cameo as not banned this weekend after all - but might not risk it given the game on Sunday - and to be fair for some reason i dislike playing on Kilbirnie

Cap 3 is the Cougars side who, no direspect to them, would hardly call themselves the Wharf 2nd team.  They are in fact the 4th team. I think you mean Cap 2 Smithy, which would then make your comment a fair call.

How is your goalie after I dribbled round him twice in a row? (I think your 'joke' refers to our Cap 2 side anyway)
