I think Batts is involved but he is concentrating on beating us at EPL FF.

Stop Out's first goal was very very good. Stunning cross from Jordan Martens for Mickey Malivuk to head in. I do mean stunning.

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Was at NCR-Wests. Brilliant game played by 2 sides with contrasting styles. NCR scored in a goalmouth fumble; Billingsley for Wests in a direct attacking move. 1-1 fair result on the day.

Temp was 27 Celcius or thereabouts - both these teams look like strong contenders.

My game has been moved earlier so I can go watch the boys (marist 1sts) take on wellington united in marist first home game of the season. I'm really looking forward to it I must admit

An average Stop Out,mid table would be my guess 5

A very poor Petone, who would struggle in Cap Prem 1

If this was a top grade game its a poor reflection on the state of Wellington football.

What changed to turn the game around? How did you rate the teams?

If I recall correctly Stop Out thumped Petone 9-2 last season so you could say Petone has improved. This week will be a big test for Stop Out as they have Marist.

So tough to time waste there with the bowl around it.

Depends where you are. At the southern end you could clear the bike track and put it in someone's backyard reasonably easily IIRC

I played before so showed up late and missed the first two goals but from what I could see WU realised they could just pass the ball around a lot more before making moves rather than forcing it. The goals I saw all came from moving the ball around the back of play setting up the field how they wanted then pouncing.

Last year at Memorial the result was Petone 1 Stop Out 2.  So maybe Stop Out have...

The 9-2 game was at Hutt Park. I think Petone are trying to compete with Wellington United for youngest squad (Average age of Petone team is 17)

Here's another view (mine)

Why did so many Petone players move on?

p,s, liked your view. I am thinking back to a wet Saturday Chatham Cup tie at Te Whiti between the two sides now.

I heard rumours (from 3 different sauces) of $$ for a few that went to play Cap 1 for Upper Hutt.

Probably the same for a few others at other clubs

They're pretty serious about gaining access for the club in the NZFC.

I am quite surprised that there has not been any comment about the Phoenix move to try and get approval to play 3 x U20 professionals in the Central League in 2016.  The players would front up for Wellington United.

This could have huge ramifications for the league.

I personally am against the move - as many people here know I am a stickler for the rules - and I can't see any way that the FIFA statute regarding the status of players would allow this.

Don't piss off old people - the older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent

I agree, I can't see it happening either. If professionals are allowed to play for Wellington United, what is stopping other clubs picking up professionals and paying them to play. There is no way this can happen surely.........hopefully

I don't know whether to consider it laughable, disrespectful of the football community or just plain dumb. They give kids pro contracts when they're not ready, so they get no game time. They gain exemptions to play full professionals in the national summer league (officially not a pro league) and now they want to take that approach with a regional premier league. #cakeandeatit

See I don't get this. Other teams pay ayers as well where do you draw the line and keep it amateur.  I know of a team last year below cl where players were getting up to 1000 per game for performance based stuff.

Now retired Siggy is Central league eligible, imagine the confidence a young CL striker would feel with him bearing down on him as he charges for goal.  It may be less frightening than your average CL defender. lol
