I think Miramar beat Lower Hutt once 13-0 back in the early 2000's

You will find that it was Lower Hutt that beat Miramar, sorry cant remember the league it was in but a hell of a game to play in!

And it might have even been Miramar's reserve team?

The game was at Dave Farrington park , and was both first teams at the time, I think from memory Tom Randles was the lower Hutt coach. Miriamar had a very good team that day as well.  The team card was framed and used to be on display at bell park.

It was Lower Hutt 13 Miramar 0 but it was in the Capital Federation League and not the Central League as the Central League didn't exist in 2000, so technically Smithy was correct and yes I am an anorak and do need to get out more :-)

Hmmm...seems it was a pretty brief "second honeymoon" as have heard Brendan has gone (again) from Lower Hutt...?

Yep rumours are that he threw a few demands at the LH board and they told him where to go.

Anyone got any results from today - nothing on CF website

I'll start off - Wairarapa Utd 1  NCR 4

Petone and Wests drew 2 all

Miramar bet Tawa 3-1

Stopout bet Palmy North 4-1

Word on Twitter is that if NCR beat Palmy North next weekend they will have officially won the league

Lower Hutt smoke Olympic 5-1,

Looks like the wheels have certainly fallen off Olympic.

Great result with Wests getting held to draw.  Will have to buy Gee a beer.

NCR now 10 points clear and a win next weekend against Palmy North Marist will mean NCR win the league with three games to go.   Trying not to get too confident, but a hell of a good position to be in.

Watched the Petone vs Wests game, Wests dominated possession but Petone were lethal on the counter attack. Number 20 for Wests big tall lad certainly caused problems every time he touched the ball. Both teams with plenty of chances to win it, Petone bottled about 4 1v1 chances.

Seems to be a few problems at Olympic, watched the game against Lower Hutt and they were comprehensively outplayed, had about 3 chances all game. think there could be some player/coach issues at olympic hearing a number of players not happy with the coaching this season and mass exodus could happen if coach re appointed, also noticed Mcintyre absent from LH so dugout was very quiet this week.

There's potentially a good game of Olympic-first-team-coach-bingo that someone could whip up.

I'd like to see a promotion/relegation play-off for the second-bottom team, against the (Central) Federation League winners OR Capital Premier second-place.

I think the top of Capital Premier is close enough to 'Central League standard' to justify automatic qualification, but Federation League not so much. And variable.

So this season you'd have Tawa straight down, Little Phoenix Diamond United straight up (because it appears to be obvious)...then a play-off between Lower Hutt and Wharfies, then the winner of that to play Team Taranaki.

Shall we agree on this and let Jamie Cross know? (if it's Jamie Cross that still does it...if not, tell someone else)

A penalty for the second bottom team i.e. auto relo or a play off match, would mean we might not see CL teams so keen to drop their better players to prop up their resie team.

so it's agreed confirmed and we're doing it? We've even written it down and have a record of the meeting! I even think we have a pseudo-Lower Hutt representative.  That's extra transparency points

Why don't we take it a step further and have a top four play-off with semis and a final.

Every team could put in a $2,000.00 entry fee to the comp and then the money is divied out according to where each team finishes.

That way, there is still something to play for during the remaining games of the season and clubs will again be less likely to drop players to the lower leagues.

Just throwing it out there.

League could be all wrapped up this weekend. I don't know the history of local leagues at all, so has there been a more dominating Central League winner before?

Napier currently 14 games, 13 wins. 67 goals for with positive goal difference of +54

I think Miramar had it wrapped up early a couple of years back. There was talk of them going undefeated that season, before they slumped in the last few games.

They went like this last year, but not sure when they had it wrapped up by.

Olympic Won the League in 2010 ending with the following final results, I would say Napier would be pretty close to beating this.

Stop Out 9 Petone 2 that is a massive result.

I recall at the end of last season there were a number of pundits predicting that Stop Out would not be competitive in Central league.

Permalink Permalink

Nope... with the exception of Jordan Pickering and Joe Harris it was a pretty standard side. Not to take away from a sharp Stop Out side but we were extremely poor today. Started with an oggie in the first 5 or so minutes and went down hill from that. 5-0 at the half and with the exception of about 25 decent minutes at the start of the second half it was basically one way traffic

I have only watched them play a couple of times this season. There were some new players as you would expect  but it seemed that many of their last year's team were there.

City Rovers up 4-1 in 2nd half. Would say that is the league title all wrapped up

well deserved beer ol'sole/NCR and congratulations on a good effort.

shame the challengers at the start of the season fell apart so badly as it looked to be a tight run thing maybe which would of made the beer taste a bit sweeter maybe.

and i cannot forget to praise Petone for there great effort to get up and win at the Island.

all the best.

good sportsmanship and fair playing field is all we ask for

but all we get is talk and goal posts moving

Where's Steve Stevens when you need someone to tell you whether this is a record-breaking season or not. Every indication so far is that NCR have done it better than anyone ever has.
