yeah that was my understanding - but when i queried it today when we were trying to fit a game on the turf for Saturday they said it was fine.  i guess i just didn't push hard enough the first time.

Support is always good but it's not the main reason we have made these descions.

Not sure 6pm on a Holiday Monday would of been great time to play a game but Saturdays all good.

Are you playing Hamilton Wanderers at night?

What do they do if it rains Weds-Sat/Sunday and pitches are unplayable again this weekend with the 4th round matches only 1 week away?

Latest news: Nelson College want to play on Sunday because
they want it on Trafalgar Park. Waimak United would like to play on Saturday, so
Nelson have to come up with another ground Saturday or possibly play at ASB
Park 4:30 kick off on Saturday.

Unless NZF come up with another plan.

So no further forward than
yesterday.

Just watched the highlights of NCR v Wairarapa. Rapa extremely lucky to come out with the win. From the video NCR had far more chances and played the better football. Feel sorry for the young keeper who gifted Rapa the opener.

Fuck this stupid game

Good set of Chatham Cup pics from Melville V Paptoetoe - http://www.flickr.com/photos/kiwicanary/sets/72157634132611189/

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Replayed ASB Chatham Cup fixtures confirmed for this weekend

June 19, 2013

AUCKLAND – The four abandoned ASB Chatham Cup third round fixtures have all been rescheduled for this weekend.

Contingency plans are being put in place to ensure there are alternate grounds available if bad weather persists and any ASB Chatham Cup games will take priority in the weekend’s local fixture lists.

Officials are still watching weather forecasts closely especially for the Tasman region where heavy snow predicted for Lewis Pass remains the main concern as Christchurch’s Waimak United are due to make the trip up to Nelson again.

New Zealand Football: Weather hits ASB Chatham Cup replay in Nelson

June 20, 2013

AUCKLAND – Weather has already played its part in one of this weekend's impending ASB Chatham Cup third round replays, forcing Nelson College's match against Waimak United to be postponed another week.

The match originally scheduled for last weekend but abandoned at halftime due to unplayable conditions will now be played on Saturday 29 June due to the travel involved for the Canterbury side and no guarantee the game could go ahead this weekend given rain and snow forecast for the Tasman region.

The latest postponement will have a flow-on effect to round four, due to be played on the weekend of June 29 and 30. Cashmere Technical will now play the winner of this clash a week later in a delayed fourth round fixture.

The three other third round replays are all still scheduled to go ahead as planned.

ASB Chatham Cup – Third Round ReplaysFixtures played weekend of June 22/23 unless specified otherwise.

Caversham scored early, but then Tech proceeded to be on top for the rest of the 1st half to no reward, no real chances though. Continued to dominate for the first 25 or so of the 2nd half, before Caversham stepped up and scored 3 in the last 15 and deserved the win. Did the job. Will be a cracker next week.

From only following on Twitter - what on earth was the Glenfield keeper doing? Up 2-1, then gives away a penalty for fighting? Idiotic

Brain explosion from the Glenfield keeper. Wasnt the only brain explosion in the match but it cost his team the match unfortunately. Fantastic game for the neutral today. Really great cup football, not the highest quality at times but the drama was captivating.

You must have read this excerpt from the Nelson Mail (16-06) as well Jeff -
"The sheer turgidity of the conditions was conveyed when players began wringing out their boots while still on their feet before taking free kicks."
How is that for farce, or am I overreacting and it's simply sheer bollocks? Surely in the running for excerpt of the year?

Question has to be asked...

No nails on Takapuna pitch at first Sunday morning inspection, so placed on pitch sometime after that.

Was this a totally random act of mindlessness or deliberate attempt to sabotage the tie from being played on that specific pitch ? Timing would seem to indicate deliberate sabotage.

If deliberate sabotage of fixture why ? Clearly if that pitch not playable fixture would still have to be played at alternate location - or was that the intention if it was sabotage ?

Which leads us to....

Who could possibly have something to gain by having the game moved from Takapuna ?

I heard a few whispers from a few relatively good sources yesterday at North Harbour stadium whilst I was watching the match as to who was resposible for this dispicable act.

Lets just say I know Birkenhead wanted to play on Takapuna's pitch because its nice and big and wide and suits there game and going to the small pitch at North Harbour played into Gelnfields direct set peice/long balls game so thats potentially the reason.
I think I read on stuff that the matter has been handed onto the police will be interesting to see if anything comes of that.

Without wanting to play the naïve card, would a team really go to that length to try to win a cup tie?

No disrespect to Glenfield and their club but when was the last time a team not in top regional league won the Chatham Cup? It might buy them a place into the Semis but was their master plan to get past Birko knowing that Waitakere, Wanderers and Bay Olympic (not excluding the Southern and Central sides that are quality, just can't recall them at the moment) were still awaiting them?

I am loathe to believe that a club would do this.

Glenfield hate Birkenhead.

Game was not about the Cup - grates on Glenfield that Birkenhead are top of Prems while they are Div 1...

The other option would be Takapuna not wanting the game played on their pitch in the interests of preserving their ground. I doubt this would be the case though. Also Taka were away at North Force on Sunday so that makes it even more unlikely as squad, coach, manager etc would have been in or on their way to Whangarei when the game was announced to be moving to Taharoto late morning.
