I've said before they are a good team just a few dickheads spoil it really.
I have no clue what's going to happen in the next round. Instinct tells me Cap Prem is a higher standard but its hard to compare.

Does anyone know if any Capital premier sides are interested ? From memory last season wainui and Marist weren't interested in getting into CL2. And the only other CPL side that is not a reserve side is University who are bottom .

my experience as a ref when wainui are involved is that their followers are ferral!
Closest I've actually come to feeling threatened and concerned for my own safety was an away game for them against Wellington United, U17's.

As the current President of Whanganui Athletic FC, I would personally like to apologise to the Wainuiomata team and supporters for the lack of common decency shown by our travelling supporters. It was extremely disappointing and embarrassing as President that myself and my wife were the only visitors to attend your Clubrooms for the after match function to not only support your efforts to provide food and drink, but also support our team who were all understandably disappointed by the result. It was a pleasure to have the Wainui supporters in Whanganui the previous week and despite the result on that day and the crowd banter, you a ll showed agreat deal of support to your team and our new Clubrooms which was greatly appreciated by us all. In terms of achieving higher status on the field we still have a way to go, however in terms of our Club culture and general lack of respect to the wider footballing community, we have unfortunately, a long, long way to go. Jesus wept. Bad losers or what?
Wainui are no angels. A couple of years ago I heard them singing a most disgraceful song after beating an opposing team. I have not watched them play this year but normally they scream and yell for free kicks continually during games. I noticed from Facebook posts that many supporters are drinking alcohol on the sideline. Why does Capital Football not have a regulation that prohibits this?
If I lost a final playoff I wouldn’t fancy going to a clubrooms let alone Wainuis. Who cares? Chairman has had a shocker here. I assume the players and mgmt went back

Any word from anybody about any teams that weren't in the leagues that might be interested? I'm trying to figure out what they might look like next year but the only change out of both leagues I can see happening is Gisborne Boys High dropping out due to the fact they ended up defaulting the second half of the season.
Also finding it hard to think of any teams in Hawkes Bay or Gisborne that would even be interested in being promoted to the Eastern Premiership. The only other clubs in Hawkes Bay not involved are Eskview (who haven't been in the prem leagues for years), Hastings Hibernian (who also haven't competed above social levels in years), and Napier South who I'm not sure have ever played really competitively. Gisborne doesn't look super strong as well, the league below Prems was won by a social team named after a local pub.
Also finding it hard to think of any teams in Hawkes Bay or Gisborne that would even be interested in being promoted to the Eastern Premiership. Probably not. But I guess this being last game of season plus the special occasion of a promo play off it sounds like the invitation had been offered and agreed upon - by both clubs' management if not by fans. Sounds like the Wanga president was expecting his mob to show at any rate.

Not sure about the West
Eskview as you mentioned are probably the closest club to having a prems side that aren’t there. They won HB Division 2 and potentially will move up to the reserve league. But would be miles away from Prems.
The only other change I could see, would be that CF allowing Napier City to have a second team in the league. Mainly because their reserve team has won the reserve league back to back and without losing a league game in two years.
The league will likely still have two Gisborne sides. So looking like a 9 team league unless NCR are allowed in.
NCR without doubt should have 2 teams in it. Reserves and a proper youth team of 15 16 17 year olds, like they used to have.

With today's confirmation of the new National League there will be a shake up at this level. With CL losing 4 teams to the National League presumably 4 CL2 teams will go up and need replacing from the Prems?

I had heard that they were looking at reinstating the Fed League below CL2. However with this announcement they’ll likely throw that idea away.

They are bringing in Fed League for the women 6-8 team league. Also introducing Women's Masters leagues in Manawatu and Hawkes Bay.
East-West Prems are here to stay. I'd say likely Whanganui Athletic, Havelock North get promoted to CL2 alongside Wainuiomata and they don't relegate Te Kotahitanga - although looking at their results they might want to drop down.
Other changes are an Import rule for West/East Prems, 2 Masters divisions in Manawatu, proposing solutions to the higher number of defaults than usual last year.
Will that come into effect the season after maybe? If the new National League is coming in in 2027 surely they'd use 2026 as a way to sort out qualifying for the new league as well as for CL2, Cap Prem, and East/West leagues?

I was on such a high at the prospect of not having to visit Whanganui that I missed the part it starts in 2027. Wishful thinking I guess!

Jimmy Sommerton apparently moving to Gisborne United this year, sounds like Thistle are losing a few this year and might look at imports again.

Gisborne United were pretty solid last year. They were hampered with injuries most of the year as well. With a decent striker up top they’d challenge for the title.
Got to think that NCR and Havelock will be the teams to beat again. Early days in pre season to know the squads yet though.

My guess is that 4 teams will go up from CL, top four in CL2 will go up to CL, and then I'm hoping two from Cap Prem and then the winners of East and West Prems will go up to CL2

I would not be surprised at all to see Napier Marist not be able to field a team. They struggled towards the end of last season and I know of two players that have already committed elsewhere. They do not have a reserve team and their second team play in Division 3. I really hope they survive, but I just can’t see it.
Western Rangers will field a team, their club is well run and they always have lots of players. They are just hit and miss on quality. But their reserve side last year was young and did really well. So they may improve as the young ones get older.
There was talk about allowing NCR to have a second prems side, as one of their teams in the reserve league have won it the last 3 years or so without losing many (if any games). But I’m not sure how that would go with the other clubs. I’m not affiliated with NCR, but if allowing them two teams was the difference between a 9 and 10 team league. I’d be happy for it to happen.
