They also did the same thing with the Beijing Olympics, showing AFL instead while keeping the Olympics delayed or just not showing events at all (And yes you guessed it, olympic football was not broadcast on 7 during this time).

I remember their Olympics coverage - was basically just swimming 99% of the time.

Might be worth contacting Sky TV to ask if they will be screening the All- Stars game: - Contact form:

Great to see Wee Mac selected in the starting eleven for the All Stars v Manchester United just announced Thursday -  Rojas also selected but unlikely to be available. Macca chosen ahead of Japanese star Shinji Ono who only makes the bench:

Broich, Hyphen and Emerton names as the first three players. How the fuck did Emmo manage that?

And the kit reminds me of Gold Coast United...

Guess Emmo won't be with the Socceroos then.

He is not in any of the teams selected that I have seen from fans and experts, not even in the top 35 fan selected players. Someone remind what percentage is attributed to fans, experts, players and coach. Emmo must be really high on the player list and Ange's list combined with a lot of players unavailable to get anywhere near this squad.

Pretty 'guttered' that Grella has missed out so far

Shocked that Melbourne Heart's Harry 'Champions League winner' Kewell isn't there

I have a spare ticket to this game if anyone wants to go at short notice.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Emailed SKY about whether they'll be showing this match (and the MV vs Liverpool one) and received this response:

"Unfortunately, we do not have rights to air these games on Sky Sports. However, we have forwarded your request to our sports department. We once again thank you for taking the time to email us with your feedback."

Sorry for not reporting the spare ticket got snapped up in seconds.

In other news, Paul Ifill has been called into the team my sauces tell me.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I hope he picks up some skills and tactics from playing them.

Ridiculous...

Coliseum would do well to use this game as a trial for people to try their service through the lower cost of a one off game. Then have people get word of mouth out about it just before the EPL season starts.

Ono & ADP have pulled out.

Ono & ADP have pulled out.

Makes a mockery of the All Stars concept.

TBH I don't blame an ageing ADP for not wanting to put his reputation up against a top European team. I am a little worried about what's going to happen to what's left though. What sort of team are Man U likely to put out?

like these games aren't a mockery already?  Half strength and half assed Man Utd team playing against a cobbled together team in an attempt to make as much money as possible.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite

and I am not sure that ADP would be "putting his reputation on the line".....

Yeah, totally agree with you. It's a stupid concept, made even worse by the fact that shit players like Emerton play, and actual "stars" like ADP and Ono don't.

I fucking hate these pre-season tours as they are all about the money.  People who are travelling to see Manchester United play are being massively ripped off (not that I really give a fuck about Man Utd fans), paying big money to watch something that will have less intensity than an average training session for the team.  The travel does nothing for the players, and they really don't give a fuck about trying to put on a performance for anyone spectating.  You are better off going to a chairty match as at least they do not dress it up as anything remotely close to competitive.

What is even worse for me is that people are calling for a mid-winter break in England - if that happened you know every club in the league would be whoring themselves off to all corners of the globe to play friendlies, completely voiding any potential benefit that they would get from the time off.

And to be brutally honest, based on last years form, shit players like Ifill ....

And yes I know he went better at the end of the season, carrying knock at start of year etc etc etc, but point is his form last year leaves him a Country Mile short of an "All Star" category.

I actually typed in "And based on last years form, Ifill doesn't deserve a place either." into that post, but removed it before posting.

Grumpy old bastard alert

$15 to watch Man United train.

AUD$100 + AUD$25 shipping for an All Stars Jersey. Rather expensive.

I hope they don't get the chance, it will just mean more of an opportunity for them to steal the a-league from the general sporting public
